    Beautiful, thanks for the virtual ride!
    09:13 that building on the left is, according to Google, Gåvans Pizzeria. Over two decades ago, during the first of my only two trips to Sweden, it used to be a petrol station, and we stopped there on our drive from Stockholm to Mora (all on roads parallel to the route of this video). While at the petrol station, I was lucky and could photograph an Rc loco with a long express train in the curve entering Morgongåva station.
    If I get there again (which might happen in 2025), it will be on train.

      We don't really have this much snow during winter anymore... its most of the time darkness, and rain/snow slush for 6 months... if you don't live in Lappland of course but who wants to live there?😂

    Jag älskar snön i Sverige. Det var mycket snö när jag var i Sverige i Januari och jag kommer från ett land med bara lite snö, så jag älskade det.

    Does ice form om the overhead wires and, if so, is it a problem?
    Greetings from Australia

    • @Daneelro
      @Daneelro Před 6 měsíci +2

      Under certain conditions, yes it does form, and if its heavy enough, yes it can be a problem, it can result in damage to pantographs or overhead wire ruptures.
      Here I have a crazy story to tell, not from Sweden but a former East Bloc country. It was told to me by a man with a long career in diverse engineering fields at the railway. At the time he was just starting his career and was responsible for the high-voltage system of the station of a mid-size city, one early morning, they found the wires extremely full of ice. The common methods of de-icing didn't work or were too slow and cumbersome. So he had an idea: what if they just short the wires? They talked with the neighbouring sections, then told all employees and passengers to get away from the tracks, and short the wires they did. There was a great buzzing sound, and all the icicles fell off at once.
      This happened about three decades ago. With all the safety and monitoring features added since (on the railway's own overhead wire and high-voltage supply networks, as well as the connected national grid), it wouldn't be possible to do something this crazy today, or would lead to legal consequences (that shorting surely had to be a minor but noticeable disturbance for the power grid).

      @vladimirfortakov9042 Před 6 měsíci +2

      It was in 1992 last time that I visited Sweden and I can answer your question by stating that even then main railroads were double track.!

    • @AnaIvanovic4ever
      @AnaIvanovic4ever Před 6 měsíci +1

      This is a line between small cities in a rural area. The main tracks between larger cities are double track of course.

    One of the most unreliable railways in the world with cancelled and delayed trains more or less everyday. And they have all kind of excuses why it’s happening. If you want to be sure to arrive at the destination in time, take the car instead. Swedish railway is a joke 👎
