- Words can hardly describe the conditions in which UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Champions have been determined in 2020. From a raging snowstorm right out of the start gate to knee-deep mud on the lower parts of the track, merely finishing this race has been an achievement worth celebrating. At the end of the day it was Camille Balanche from Switzerland and Reece Wilson from Scotland who have become the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Champions of 2020.

Not recording like 70% of Reece's run is criminal. Why film the world champs with all those cameras out there and only show us 5 shots at the bottom?
yeah they show us the full boring run of women's where she barely stays on the bike and it's just about not crashing.... but only 1 min of an awesome race
I imagine they wernt expecting him to win, so they didnt bother having the crews out till the 'big names' were out.

On par with Danny hart's winning world champs run but unfortunately due to poor filming we won't get to experience it. Everyone knew Reece was going to be one to watch in the wet.

That's what my local trails look like in the summer after they have dried out
i live in Australia so we are the complete opposite
It was so sad to watch Bruni riding this track, he just kept crashing and crashing, you could see how frustrated he was, Wilson put in the best run and definitely deserved the win
But apparently didn't deserve to have the film crew out watching it

It wasn't filmed because his qualfiing run wasn't so good.
@@francismartini5704 no i think its because the camera crew didnt have time to switch camera views and it was the easiest to switch from 1st to last, because only 2-4 people got recorded through the whole run
In the start the riders were going down to slow so the speeded it up and let more riders ride down, at the same time. So when the first rider finished the next was already half way through.
What a race that was !!! Didn`t expect it to get so exciting after watching the women sliding down the mountain. Huge respect for every rider comming down the track alive

And maybe it's "brave" but the time spent watching Reece's run is way more enjoyable than watching all the Balancher's run
I don't understand. Balanche had time of 5:08, Wilson had 3:51, combined 8:59. Yet the video is only 5:04. Why did you cut the runs short? Nobody at Redbull has the video of the full run? Why even bother with all the camera equipment when you show only half of their performance?

Hey Red Bull - we understand the limitations of live TV and why it wasnt all show live on the day - but surely your camera guys were actually pointing the cameras to the track for the earlier runners? You must have recorded it - can't you piece it together into (most) of a full run? This is embarassing!

Why wouldn't they film all the mens run? I understand he's a relatively unknown rider but they literally say that he won practice, surely that's worth filming

Seeing him so pinned in the Vital Raw footage and even in the earlier 'Not a Race' vid with Cathro gave me some hope.

Glad you guys could watch it. Waited 10 months for some downhill racing and a week before red bull geoblock it. Right laugh
This is not Red Bull but the UCI. My guess is that the rights to the World Championships belong to the UCI and they sell it for each country to the TV station who pays the most. And if they want an exclusive right, then Red Bull cannot show them. Here in Austria Red Bull and the sports channel of our national TV broadcaster split the rights so it was visible on both. I'm not sure but I think last year Red Bull did not even provide the live feed at worlds and the Red Bull commentators where not even at the venue but commented from abroad. And I also think to remember that the feed was not as good as we where used to from the World Cups.
Was live on bbc sport app. I assume bbc has rights to UCI world champs in uk this year.

These runs are not cut out, because of the track being so slow and the schedule for a livestream being so tight, The riders where often on track at the same time and of course nobody knows who’s run is gonna be the best. So the camera crew definitely didn’t knew who to film and you can’t blame em

It's already been addressed a couple of times, however I'll say it again. Why did we see only 5%of riders going through the stumps? Possibly one of the most important bits of track, early in the runs you heard Rob wondering where the riders lost time, i'll tell you where...in the stumps you Muppets. Later heard him refer to it as the most important peices of track.......🤔😤

PS. Rob is not a Muppet, he's a legend. The media directors are the muppets
They did an awful job filming it simple as that.. they filmed everyone on the flat boring sections - that no one gives two shots about - and completely skipped the interesting parts like the stumps and the woods (for Reece's run).

simple answer would be to tell you that on tracks, usually, women are slower than men.
If you look at Balanche's run, you see how she starts, how she jumps.
Now compare it to Reece's run, he's clearing gap she does not even approach, that makes him gain load of time.
And in the end, it's the usual stuff. It's like looking at a BMX contest, look at the men doing double flips, triple tailwhips 720, or combo that are totally crazy, while women best tricks would be a T-bog or a flip...

Watched the men live. WAS going to watch women tomorrow. Having seen the way the race was won I might not bother. Chuffed for my countryman winning it though. PB is always sagging off the UK scene as "riding steep muddy ruts".

Can somebody explain to me why I had to use a VPN to view this video? The Worlds broadcast already wasn't available in my region without one, but to restrict uploaded videos like this feels extra silly. Can RB and whomever else is involved in these restrictive deals think a little harder about the fans and viewers of this sport?
