Unfortunately it has no winning chances because the ESC audience doesnt appreciate songs and voices like this enough. But it is perfect. Her voice, the lyrics and all of that in the beautiful portuguese language. That's the kind of entry I wish from everybody but most of the entries are boring english pop songs (including my country Germany).
Plus, some of them are ok in the studio version, but terrible live.
as a portuguese, i prefer the portuguese culture to be appreciated by a small minority that really appreciates it, than by the masses who consume it as popcorn and then go the next thing.

There's something so eerie in this song. It sounds very unusual. The instrumentation is simple, the singer's voice is gorgeous with that roughness in the timber. Also it's in the national language which is always a plus for me. It's like there's pain or despair in her voice. It's beautiful.
This song has its roots in fado, traditional Portuguese music.

Pain and Despair is part of Fado, a Portuguese style of singing. That is why this song has that painful feeling although it's not a Fado song, it's Fado inspired for sure.
I already know she is gonna like it. Iolanda might not be a winner at Eurovision but she is an unbelievable artist!
Also the lyrics are pure poetry, the translation don't do any justice, just believe me when I say this.

She’s my absolute favourite this year. Her voice is unbelievable. But in my opinion she’s really underrated. Portugal is always underrated 😅

I think this song is truly underrated. It doesn't have any Eurovision vibes, but neither Amar Pelos Dois, and Portugal won in 2017 with a beautiful ballad!

Thank you Georgina for your lovely comment. I have been anxiously wating for it because I appreciate your honesty even when you do not like what I do like !!! The song is about mental struggles and fighting to overcome them on you own - Self empowerment. I get that is not for everyone and it might be thought to get the attention on the televote. She is on the 2nd half of the 1st semi final what is a difficult one. But if she gets to the Final I believe that she will get the love and attention of the juries. Explaining the choreography, the dancers are/represent the struggles and her demons and at the end she makes them disappear with her scream overcoming the struggle . Grito = scream . The white is to represent the flames, the pure white light the that emanates from the soft candle flames. Love from a Portuguese in the Midlands

Another impressive riff is France Slimane’s vocal from his Croatian performance. He sings acapella near the end of the song and holds the most impressive note standing ten feet back from the mic….WoW!!

We Portuguese have a sadness in our DNA; we even have a word, that doesn't exist in english, that conveys the sadness of missing someone: 'saudade'.
Her name is Iolanda; not Lolanda! It's like Yolanda, but we write the name with "i". There's no "y" in Portuguese (nor "k" and "w").
This song is a masterpiece. How is it possible that they are not giving it its due value?
They who? The bettors? Because the bulk of the votes come from almost children and musical immatures. Therefore, there is no musical beauty that can overcome this degradation of Eurovision

It’s sad but also very inspiring, it’s about overcoming depression and the feeling of being alone and defeated, and coming back to life. She says “sou chama que ainda arde” which means the inner flame is still burning.

Tad Spain last year but totally individual. Refreshing to see fully clad costumes and in white. This works so well visually, vocally and as a song to listen to. If this isn't top 10 I'll be so surprised. A stunning entry from Portugal, thank you.
Like you said. It's a package of high quality performance and a fantastic interpretation from Iolanda.
I think the lyrics' translation might not make what it really is the background of it. In a nutshell, it relates with her your demons in life and her mental struggles which is represented by the dancers - in some parts of the music they follow her movements or she follow theirs like a unison until she releases the "grito" (scream) that make them go away in the end.
Tbh I think that we (I'm Portuguese) will struggle to be in the final which, I think, it's a pity because as a music and performance, this is great in my opinion.

Favorite big notes- My heart beats like a Drummmmmmm ooo in The Code, Mon Amour basically the whole entire part he steps away from the mic, and La Noia basically the runs at the end in the final chorus.
