Yes, you read that right. I've been hard at work on something bizarre, and co-op multiplayer for CW4 is on its way to Creeper World. Stay tuned in the coming weeks.... / discord
This is incredible! A mode like this is exactly what CW4 needed to respark interest, admittedly I didn't play the game much past the main campaign because I didn't feel like the game offered many new things that CW3 didn't have already, until now. I'll try this out as soon as it come out.
@@Mukuta_Pavlov Yeah I think so too, but I hope I'll be able to update my already created maps for multiplayer without having to recreate them form scratch.
And I can already see how to turn it into competitive multiplayer. Every player starts in an isolated copy of an identical map, and the first one to conquer their area (whatever win condition is chosen) is the winner. Might even be possible to program that in 4RPL in some way, so the winner is officially-decided by the map, rather than everyone having to eyeball it and go double-checking replays and whatnot. I'm loving this concept, there are so many possibilities to explore! I'm sure people will come up with some insane ideas. They always do.
I don't think that would gain any traction as it's no different then speedrunning existing maps with a leaderboard apart from the fact you can see them live.
@@bugsybro3011 hrm, true...you'd have to add another aspect to it. Perhaps interference of some kind. Not to mention, spores and blobs and such would target random players unless specifically programmed. Which I suppose could be argued as a good thing? But I haven't the strength to manage it.
@@bugsybro3011 A race is actually quite a bit different from a speedrun, because you only get one shot. Your past world records don't matter, and you don't get to try again.
One Person has FPS, one person has PAC or sleeper units and 2 other people have cursor, one controlling creeper, the other controlling anti creeper. 2 vs 2
I assume this will be added when the multiplayer update is fully released, but just to be sure, It looks strange that you can't see the projectiles of the other player's units. I hope that things like projectiles, power lines, packets, and really everything will be visually shown even for other players. I want to be able to see if my teammates connections are powered. Things like Solent fields can be player colored so you know it's not your own.
Awesome! I think the multiplayer interactions are very well thought out, even down to what might be considered a minor detail like pausing the game. Are there going to be maps released with the mode that are curated to be multiplayer friendly or that even encourage partying up like a raid boss?
I can definitely see space for a competitive element of PVP in this game. Arbitrary pauses would have to be removed from the game, but scheduled staggered pausing for both players can fix the issues of out of phase gameplay, such as when Spore Launches are announced every 1-2 minutes or whenever Stashes are about to detonate. Pvp mechanically can take in the form of contracting the AI-controlled Creep to attack each player's base by calling down air-strikes by spores or other player-targeted Creep abilities, or just straight up Creep-warfare by using Anti-creep spray guns.
I played CW1 SO MUCH and wa surprised a few years ago to find 2 and 3 and immediately bought them. Last night I dreamt of a multiplayer Creeper World, and googled it . And now.i find there's a CW4 with it this is great!
I am hyped. Man you’re sick. I’m played and bought all the games you’ve made. Creeper world 4 was awesome. That 2d one you did where it was side on rather than top down was an interesting take I enjoyed as a kid
By the way here is a friendly advice: 1. Some griefers will surely arise such as materializing base near other and fill everywhere with collector. To prevent this you might make a Account and if anyone gets a variety of reports then try to get in a match with him one or two times. If he griefs then simply IP ban the account. Or make a kind of point system to purchase maps or unlock many cool settings on level editor. The points would be rewarded with simple stuff like: Energy collected, Creeper killed. But the most would be supporting other player. Just like: Carpet bombing creeper near his buildings or drop a energy pod on them. This would convince the players to Co-Operate more than griefing. Of course we all know that such toxic or griefer kiddos wouldn’t have time or patience to grief in a game that bases strategizing as core play.
This is super cool. I love the idea that you each control your own units, but share the resources (if you're linked). I'm super keen to get this game. Looking forward to the release :)
Fantastic! I'm looking forward to some traditional RTS skirmish matchups, with both players going toe to toe with each other, building up their own networks an assaulting the opponent's, with the help of creeper and AC respectively.
I just want to give props to knucklecracker for giving such amazing support for their games. Most companies would just do bug fixing and move on, But here we are getting awesome new content.
is an in-game pinging system planned? for example "i am focussing on this emitter" or "pay attention here" or "I need help"... it could help collaboration. Great great job btw!!
I’d make the soylent field connected to the other player a different color rather than not visible. That would make it easier to detect whether or not they’re actually fully disconnected or just not yours. And then when you connect, just change it to your main color.
Huh... so apparently I've just been beating multiplayer maps my self? And generally faster than Mvers teams? lol. So I guess I'm going to go try this out later.
People have made play as creeper custom maps: would it be easy to implement a pvp multiplayer? One playing as creeper one playing as Danu? Or perhaps a play as creeper campaign..?
About soylent. So, connecting to another player essentially doubles your energy production on the map? If both players get the whole production. Wouldn't it be more reasonable to either make the energy pool shared (probably a bad idea, though), or split it 50/50? Since in single player, if you connect the bases, you don't actually make every soylent tile work double. The way it is now makes me feel like you'll be reaching the stable/boring map clearing phase (which, afaik, you've trying to make more fun with creep eggs, blobs, red creeper etc.) even faster, no? Or, if the map is designed around the energy production being double the norm, the start will be extremely rough and probably has to be safeguarded with something. What I'm saying is, if the mechanic is that it makes both benefit from the whole territory, it practically makes it mandatory and number 1 priority on each map, and map will either be unbeatable without connected bases, too easy once you connect or will have terrain that makes it physically impossible to connect.
Wow! I would never would have thought to ask for a multiplayer feature! Is this going to work with Steam remote play together or will all the players need to own creeper world 4?
The best part is: This is the biggest announcement since that video all back in 2017, and the showcase map is simply called "hot dog"!
Hot dog

Play custom maps. PAC (play as creeper), Cursor, and FPS (first person shooter) modes are particularly interesting and are added very frequently.
I feel the exact same way. I can't wait to see what kind of really cool custom maps people make for multiplayer games.
Simply awesome...
OH MY GOD! you play this game too? you must like these sandbox games.
OH GOD, now I have valid reason to convince my multiplayer only friends to buy this game, thanks for making dreams come true.
also one question, will community maps work with multiplayer too?
@@Angelotrauma it seems like map has to be made for co-op, so not every map will be working with co-op.
@@Mukuta_Pavlov Yeah I think so too, but I hope I'll be able to update my already created maps for multiplayer without having to recreate them form scratch.
multiplayer only friends? what?
Damn this completely revitalises the game, will there be co-op lobby's? Thats gonna be gold!
Dont forget to change the Steam side from single to coop ;)

Probably would be lower on the priority list, understandably, but I'd love it if there were some customization options for your color :D
I would love to be green.
Your color only changes how others see you. Green probably won't be one, since the destinations of your own in-transit units is a green silhouette.

yes
OH yeah. I had to check it wasn't april 1st or something because my sould wouldn't be able to take that much disappointment. I LOVE COOP! HURRAH ♥
I’d imagine Anti-Creeper would also be shared as well in a map.
nah you'd kill your friend with your AC :P
AC is basically negative creeper, so I see no reason why it wouldn't be.
wow :D
I still haven't wrapped my head around the fact that Knuckle Cracker Studios is just ONE GUY!!!! This guy must never sleep...

that gonna be great way
Doom eternal multiplayer Co-Op
Epic. This came completely out of the blue and I absolutely love it.
Nice! Hopefully together with custom maps we can expect some crazy game modes 😁
I do wonder if there would be 1 person play as FPS mode and other person building, that would be great
@@CoryJ3nn I was thinking that too
Look at that everyone. A developer that enjoys playing his own game. We need more of that.
Such a cool idea and a very well implemented one. Can't imagine how hard it was to make it work properly but thank you for making this!
Hell yeah! Looking forward to it!
This is awesome! Except I don't have any friends to play with
Yeah same probably going to be a discord made for find people to play with
WHAT. YES. I WANT THIS SO BAD.
I... was not expecting this... I have been meaning to get back into making some maps but man Uni has been EATING my time x3

Love your games. Been an addict for a decade.
Sweet. Now that looks like it could turn out real fun. Challenging the creeper with friends!
Now this game will be immortal
Holy Shit!
Playing this mode is gonna be a real trick for me. I usually spend 2/3 of my game time paused and turtling, 1/6 attacking, and 1/6 studying the map.
So... If we already have PaC maps, then can it become PvP mode?)
i think not yet for that
since it need more developing terran and creeper unit was different but that gonna be good one
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time
I can't wait for variant, where one player will play as creeper and another one for lab, because I bet that ppl will love it.
This mans a legend
Any great game has coop! Perfect!
Did you speculate on colorcoding the units in the fashion of old RTS? Might make the coops a little more immersive
Now I cant wait for human creeper vs human humans
This is amazing :D Can't wait to play with friends.
That would be very nice to play with friends.
That moment when none of your friends are even into creeper world.
Awesome addition
Coop FPS with a builder and a gunner sounds promissing !! can't wait to see all the crazy stuff this will bring out to the game
