IMO, the strongest is to use an internal sleeve to join and hold the two pipes, then weld each pipe to the sleeve with a wire welder. The advantage is that it is super strong and cheap. The disadvantage is that the welded area has to be painted, so isn't as quick. It is a great way to join pipes that are to be bent in a hoop bender for hoop roofs, which is what I use it for.

I need to do that for my garden shade, maybe next year, I've spent a lot on it this year already. Maybe get them when you guys have the Black Friday sale.
