Jake your description and demonstration of assembly of the monitor mount, is much better than the description and demonstration of the Flex Pipe assembly. You guys rock keep up the great how to videos and Maker Pipe assembly parts 👍
I live near a fence co. that put out the old fence material they take down for public to take. I goy a lot of 20' top rail a few pieces were bent but all good. I also get the old cedar privacy fences .Uusally they just need a good pressure washing .So check out your local fence guys.
It's not even a degree off. Wtf
Now you tell me 😂 Did you make this because of my generator project?
Lol It definitely had some influence but honestly this is a foundational video that we've needed for a while
The Maker Pipe product and creative user base is hamstrung by the poor availability of EMT conduit in anything but 10 foot lengths of metal tubing. EMT tubing with Maker Pipe connectors can serve a much broader base of users and in a wider range of applications by addressing these constraints. My projects depend on 20 foot sections of aluminum EMT in addition to shorter lengths and common metal EMT. Fiberglass is another EMT material. Retailers sell a single section aluminum ladder that is advertised but not inventoried at the retail price and without shipping fees for an in store pickup on request. A 20 foot section of EMT in common metal or aluminum will require a very high shipping fee from retailers or trade stores. Maker Pipe should offer a user forum and more thoroughly researched guidance on how to obtain EMT in various materials and in longer (20 foot) lengths-both new and used. Help in organizing bulk purchases delivered to various regions by a user forum process and advertising.
Thanks for your comment. You have some interesting ideas and feedback and I appreciate you sharing them! Sourcing and guiding people to longer than 10-foot spans hasn't been something that we've considered very much. Mostly because hardly anyone ever asks for more than 10 foot spans, and also because we recommend that you have vertical supports or bracing every 4 to 5 feet which usually requires a connector that could simultaneously extend the span anyway. I'm more intrigued about the other types of EMT that you mentioned. I've heard about aluminum EMT in some regions but didn't know that fiberglass was an offering. I'm going to look into those some more. Thanks again for your comment and ideas!
I purchase my conduit from a local electrical supply store because they are usually about $1 less per stick than Lowe’s.
That's great! I went to our local electrical supply store one day to see if they had it cheaper and they straight up told me to go buy it at Lowes or Home Depot. It's definitely worth checking with them though! Thanks for your comment
Great video Jake and you spoke slow enough that I could understand you due to the fact that I wear Hearing Aids. I just found out about Maker Pipe and I have several projects that these would be excellent for. Thanks for the excellent video!! 😀
Thanks for your comment Dave! Let us know if you have any questions as you work through your ideas!
Hi Jake; nice explanation. Don't forget to check resale and surplus stores because many times EMT conduit shows up. I usually check the local resale places for all kinds of materials. I go in with the mindset...don't look at things for what they are but think about what they could be. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Aksel! I always forgot to mention that tip. Thanks for the reminder! If you ever see a bunch of conduit that you aren't taking let me know! I might have to sneak over into your territory to grab it. Thanks again!
@@MakerPipe Sounds good!
Is the id the same between emt and rigid within the same trade/nominal size?
I was unsure so I did some research. Surprisingly it is pretty close for 3/4" and 1". 3/4" RMC has an ID of .836" and it's EMT counterpart has an ID of .824". The ID of 1" RMC is 1.063" and 1" EMT is 1.049".
Great timing, I was just in Menards to see what the conduit selection was, and noticed that the rigid was not only much more expensive, but it's weight was much greater, making it unsuitable for my project. The EMT was quite light and will work well.
Thanks for the comment! Rigid is great for certain things but is usually pretty overkill for most builds. I'm glad that EMT is suitable for your project. Let us know if you have any questions as you work through your ideas!
WOOOHOOOO
WOW great video, I did however slow the video down to a slower speed as the guy spoke to fast for me. Mind you I wear Hearinf Aids, so a slower video speech speed was better for me. I am Super happy that I recently found Maker Pipe fittings. 👍
For simple closet pole solution, you cut two 2x4's, or 2x3's, and put holes in both sides, and then secure the 2x lumber to the wall. etc. You really need to use the 2x lumber, because you need to secure a closet pole to the studs. You can use 3/4, or even fence poles (1 5/8), etc.
Great one 👍
older video but if anyone knows, i was curious about how well this emt could use to build buildings. like maybe a garage with metal siding or a bigger shop. i figure i could use a small frame to build a carport for bad weather perhaps but i also would like to build a workout room and i dont really need a proper building if i can still lift inside i just dont need it blowing away or people able to break inside and steal weights otherwise i would just lift outside.
What's the connector list for this build? Maybe you could just overlay it at like 3:18
Hi there, thanks for the comment. That desk uses (6) 90 Degree Connectors (3) T Connectors (1) 4-Way Connector (1) 180 Degree Connector Let me know if you need some help knowing where each of them is used in the build.
I have many ideas but im most interested in a canopy for my mobility wheelchair. For those darn rainy days.
IMO, the strongest is to use an internal sleeve to join and hold the two pipes, then weld each pipe to the sleeve with a wire welder. The advantage is that it is super strong and cheap. The disadvantage is that the welded area has to be painted, so isn't as quick. It is a great way to join pipes that are to be bent in a hoop bender for hoop roofs, which is what I use it for.
Bring the black connectors back
I'm with you there. Hopefully one day we will be able to!
Great product line! I'm a retired Marine who took up gardening as a hobby. Until now, I've been building my indoor/outdoor garden structures using PVC. Effective but costly and difficult to modify once built. Your connectors along with EMT pipe will make things so much easier going forward. Already imagineering ways to mount/display my firearms collection. Thank you and Semper Fi
Is it strong enough to build a 4 wheeled trailer for my recumbent, the trailer must big enough to sleep in and carry a 8 foot kayak and gear 50kg [3 solar panels and battery] plus ,mounting frame for the panels.
So Rad!!
Great tips gang!
Great tip!
I'd love to see a bridge building competition with this hardware system used
That's a fun idea! Thanks for the comment
Excellent idea! Reusable and low tech. :)
David, I'm having a bit of trouble attaching wheels to the conduit. I bought a couple orders here from ya for a kayak cart/trailer, but do you have any wheel solutions or ideas? I got the threaded inserts but its only 3/8 🤔 Cheers, pics to follow
Hi there, thanks for the orders and question. Did you see Aksel’s video and solution for wheels? It’s my go to recommendation for these types of builds. czcams.com/video/sb4w-ve3LeU/video.htmlsi=G3B0l11fMYwbn0CF
I was juat about to come back to this comment and say i didnt click around enough to find the answer! Thanks so much for the quick response brotha! Cheers 😅@@MakerPipe
Very nice!
I need to do that for my garden shade, maybe next year, I've spent a lot on it this year already. Maybe get them when you guys have the Black Friday sale.
Awesome
I've just found out about Maker Pipe. This is exactly what I'm looking for to make a canopy/awning for my shed. There are a lot of different options I can go with, so I just have to whittle it down. This video in particular opens up dome ides with regards to the 'hook bolts.' If I can find the right ones featured here, that might be the route I take. I'll be placing an order soon, once I get my parts list dialed in. Thanks for a great product...I've a bunch of ideas for projects already queueing up!
That rock formation frame is a great idea! Could wrap it with chicken wire and layer cement or fiberglass. 👍🏻
For sure! That would be cool! Thanks for the comment and ideas!
Thank you for your time and effort to make this video and share your knowledge with us. Greetings from Croatia.
Question: what is the 'pull out strength' of the No Lip Threaded Inserts ? You neglect to mention that most (if not all) of your stuff is 'designed' for 3/4 inch EMT (shims do not count). No love for 1/2 inch EMT ?
This product is the answer to all my garden ideas! I live in the UK though. Do you have a UK outlet?
Awesome Video! Thank you!
How are the bottoms of the posts secured?
Thank you, this was extremely helpful!
Good stuff! 👍
Very good job presenting this. Having a script works well.
I came here to say this too. Great presentation, content, and brevity! Nice job!
Thank you both! Glad you enjoyed it!
This would be useful if you wanted to build some sort of water cutover manifold that you need to bury and need to space the vertical pipe risers and keep them spaced nicely. Of course, most pipe is 3/4 or 1", so you would have to make a smaller version.
Really Cool. Arbor Press might make things faster, next best would be electric hydraulic RAM with up down, no spring release crapola.
Also can use 1/2” or 3/4” cane tips on the ends of the tubes to keep from scratching things that the legs rest on. Floor, table, etc. Cane tips from Walmart 4/ $3.97 in the pharmacy section.
