I bought a Batura jacket about 20 years ago and it’s still my go to coat when the weather is extreme. It’s amazing! You put it on and you are in your own little microclimate. Never felt the cold when I’ve worn it and there’s also a lot of coat envy going on when your mates see it 😁😉 Ultimate cold weather coat 💪🏻

That's amazing to hear, we're so glad it's serving you well all these years later! If it ever needs a wash, repair, or some TLC, you can always send it back to us for some care!

Batura !!!!!

It would be nice seeing someone wearing the jacket and showing how it fits etc and maybe wearing it outdoors to get a good look at it in nature and being fully tested in bad weather especially rain.

Beaver Sports (Alaska) did a good CZcams review video of the Batura (previous model).
I own the earlier model Rab Summit Batura which I prefer to these two new updated Rab models.

@@Legionnaire7777 The Batura is not only for serious expeditions, but also very good in UK during winter for when you're fairly stationary for long periods, or in really strong winds, or cold weather at night around the tent, or on the side of a mountain.

I too own the previous Batura II iteration. Saving around 30% after taking advantage of an end of line/end of season sale.
For it’s designed function in extreme conditions(tried it out in frigid -25°c/-14°f) the Batura is supremely efficient at keeping the elements at bay, in trapping as much of your body heat & minimising heat loss as practically possible.
Were it not for it’s relative bulk & weight I would have used it much more. But I’m reluctant to pack it unless I’m certain that i’ll experience long periods of relative inactivity exposed to temperatures of -20°c/-4°f or lower.
I’m surprised though that Rab didn’t see fit to utilise higher 850 or 900 fill power Nikwax hydrophobic down nor their TILT heat retention tech. in this latest version of the Batura. In order to shave off a bit more weight, further reduce it’s packed size & increase it’s warmth to weight ratio. As Rab have done with their Mythic Ultra & Zero G down jackets for example(?)

Debating between this Rab Batura & the Mythic Ultra.
Batura is more durable & warmer on specs. But it is also a lot bigger when "compact".
When hiking up a mountain summit in winter, or camping, or even mountaineering, would you say this jacket is too big and bulky? Especially since it would be in your pack when on the move, it would take up a heck of a lot space.
Meanwhile, the Mythic Ultra is very small because it doesn't have the durable outer layer.

Hey you, working at an outdoor gear store in Germany atm and also debating between the Batura and Mythic Ultra. From my personal - and professional - perspective: If you want a lighter weight but extremely good weight to warmth ratio jacket, go for the Mythic Ultra! The Mythic Ultra is designed to keep you warm during your breaks or at camp when mountaineering. Also, you can wear your hardshell on top! I am probably going for the Batura personally but only because I am planning a ski/pulka trip in Northern Sweden: Weight is not much of an issue since I won't carry the jacket on my back!
