Every time I watch this scene I'm reminded of the fact that Alexis did infact get kidnapped. Also in this episode where he said he couldn't possibly imagine what the kid parents were going through. He did after Alexis went missing!! Castle is possibly the best Father Figure on TV I know, apart from Danno in Hawaii Five-o With Grace! They're the 2 the remind me most of my father, with him now gone it's nice to see such great father figures on TV that can remind me of him :)
Two things I love about Castle's personality.One is how no matter how silly or childish he acts being a dad is serious to him.He is not a dead beat dad nor does he put his writting first.The second is how when the show first started he was always telling 'very serious/mature' Alexis she needs to have more fun and be less serious....but when she does he suddenly becomes the worried dad thinking 'ohh crap what did I just do?!' LOL
It's things like this that make me love Castle. So many fictional fathers are either stiff and formal or not very involved with their kids. When Castle is in 'Dad Mode' he is just like my own father. (He takes me Christmas shopping every year and ALWAYS reminds me why I should never wander off without telling him again. It's sweet really.)
I love seeing Castle in his 'Dad' moments. He's great at being an idiot, but his relationship is Alexis is so sweet.
