  • Did you know that there are 1,500 homeless people living in tunnels below Las Vegas? Directly under the billion-dollar casinos, fancy night clubs and Michelin-star restaurants is a world that you wouldn’t believe is real. Until you go down there and see it for yourself.
I teamed up with Rob from Shine a Light Foundation, who guided me down into this underground world to meet with local residents and hear their stories.
If you’d like to donate to 'Shine a Light' to help rescue people from the tunnels and into a better life, you can do so by clicking this link: shinealightlv.networkforgood....

Would love to get your thoughts on the homeless situation of Las Vegas (and America in general) -- as this is a growing issue nationwide. My goal in making this video was to humanize the tunnel residents of Las Vegas, and let them use my platform as a place to share their own personal stories and struggles. I appreciate you watching this story and I look forward to reading your comments, suggestions and opinions!

As someone who has lived in a number of cities across America and currently lives in Las Vegas, the homelessness issue in Vegas is the worst I have ever seen. A ton of homeless people on the strip at night, and downtown all day long. As for America this has become a major issue and something needs to be done to fix it. Either we need to arrest these people and put them in jail or build places for them to go to. These people are flooding the streets with trash, drugs, crime etc.

Stop claiming nobody knows about these people. Las Vegas knows exactly what it has been doing to its poor and homeless. They have all the money in the world to fix the problem but corporate greed has left them forgotten or worse they’ve been criminalized just for being poor.

I actually Met Jay (the guy in the thumbnail) 2 months ago. I shared his story on my CZcams channel. I actually got his birth certificate from the vital checks. I have also tried contacting his family but no one got back to me.
Jay is from a very good family. My goal is to get him out of the tunnel as soon as possible. I actually went again to Vegas to meet Jay on Jun 28th. I also hung out with him and talked about how he is doing and told him the good news that I got his birth certificate. He was very happy about it. Hopefully we will get his ID and get him out in no time.
I'm looking for a place for him so he can stay there in the mean time. It was actually so hot outside as well as inside the tunnel i could not survive for 20 minutes.
I love Jay hopefully he stays safe out there until we get his ID back to him. ❤

The government can only do so much, there is a street called A street, it's on the cross street with Washington avenue. They provide daily jobs there but a lot of homeless would prefer to just panhandle because it's easier money.
My brother used to work for the post office on Las Vegas boulevard and lake Mead, there is a little door on the side of the post office called general delivery. Every 10 minutes homeless people would ask if their check came in the mail, most times it would be the same people. They just keep checking if their check have arrived so that they can buy drugs.
Lots of provisions here for the homeless but unfortunately you can't help those who won't help themselves

You can't help someone who doesn't want it. I live in Portland, one of the worst cities in the US for homelessness due to the law that decimalized hard drug use. It destroyed the city, people don't want a home, a job, anything, they just want their next fix. They are addicted to drugs and until they are willing to change then the problem will never be fixed.

Because it's not a great country. Our "greatness" is one of the greatest illusions ever pulled off. This country is the anthropomorphization of "greatness" while being a serfdom in disguise. The poor get poorer while the rich get richer. Thats why we're all being replaced by immigrants, so they can extract as much labor as possible for the least amount as possible. The servants are being rode harder and harder every day.

What this group is doing for the homeless is admirable, why don't you buy and sponsor a large piece of land (50 or 100 acres) and start a community for the people who want to get out of this terrible situation and turn their lives around, building tiny houses, get gardens going, training in crafts and skills and lift them up. Don't give them fish, teach them to fish so they can supply their own needs and not rely on the government. Relying on the government stifles creativity and productivity. PS. This is a really great and eye opening video! Massive Kudus to the folks trying so hard to help! My biggest question though is how any of these people are really going to get help if they DON"T WANT IT? They are suffering down in those tunnels with addictions and mental health problems and clearly do not want a way out. How on earth does that get addressed in any meaningful, permanent way?

    • @kdfooaijfea3asdf

Most of these folks probably have tried to get out but either kept failing or the so-called "help" just don't go far enough. Eventually they become hopeless and give up. They don't think "help" will really help them, and they're actually right. Also, one of the symptoms of mental illnesses and drug addiction is poor insight. They cannot think rationally the way you and I can.

Guys like him deserve a spot as a guest on late night or Joe Rogan for what's he's been through. Dude is probably a huge celebrity in heaven for the work he's doing. The real heroes we don't deserve are fighting in the trenches every day. I hope the Vegas community can do something about homelessness. If you're an American citizen... an ID card shouldn't cost you a penny with all the money we send over to Ukraine. Also, cops are first responders to difficult situations... they ought to be bringing these issues to public discourse rather than towing the bureaucratic line and mitigating property damage for people that care more for profits than prosperity. Protecting and serving the people means protecting and serving all the people... not just the people that can afford rent and property taxes. We're a joke of a nation with train derailing, bridges collapsing, and the homeless crisis that's going on right now. One could argue that we're well on our way to becoming a third world country with how stupid the hierarchy structure is here.

It is not capitalism, to blame. It is far deeper. This has been going on for millenia, even in early biblical times. People with mental health struggles, transients, criminals on the run, drug addicts, ppl with trauma, etc.
In general, as a nation, we have turned from principles of 'help thy neighbor'. Biblical principles. We all could individually be more astute to work towards helping with time, group focus on the issue as a populace, strive for strong family units, and get back to raising our children to believe in the Church and believe in lifes sanctity. There are many grass roots organizations working to change lives. Go find one and donate!

It’s because they chose drugs and homelessness. They don’t want help.

@@JessicaRodriguez-zy5gz that’s an interesting perspective of two serious social issue. As an ex heroin addict and homeless mother of 4 I can genuinely say I never chose drugs or homelessness. Before healing the damage emotional , psychological , physical and sexual abuse ( PTSD ) dictated every decision I made since I was 5 years old. Any one operating on fight , flight or freeze makes decisions based on fear. Living in fear ? Well that can kill you. I hope you educate yourself a little more I am sure you have much to offer anyone in need. Have a nice day.

they're not ostracized enough, that's the problem, shame used to hold our society together, without shame, you have people "living" in the sewer with a smile, but somehow it's everyone else's responsibility

@@gutwallst6645 that is also an interesting perspective. Shame & guilt only create misery and anger. Never have they held a society together if it were true ? Then we wouldn’t see it now. We have a mental health pandemic. But we forget humans are fuelled by emotions and feelings. Emotional trauma , emotional pain & emotional immaturity create these communities. It’s our duty as healthy , happy humans to ensure that those less fortunate also feel those things. When a society begins to crumble it’s not the lower classes that are to blame either. Have a nice day and thank you.

Ty for shining a light on this. No pun intended. Had no idea. Makes me want to look into homelessness in my own area and see what I can do to help. God bless.

Richest country in the world and there's people living in tunnels. Tunnels underneath buildings where people literally throw away hundreds and thousands of dollars. Truly horrible.
