He's not in his own tier. He's got a great coach, great TE, great O line, and the green light to play off script. Many coaches don't allow off script throws. Mahomes is great, no doubt....but the hype train is a bit much. If Mahomes were on the Giants or Texans, he'd be a good QB with no rings.

Successfully using the available weapons is EXACTLY what the best quarterbacks do. Travis Kelce was part of it too. Let’s also remember there was a time out available, which is a combination of coaching and execution. Mahomes was down 24-0 in a playoff game and personally scrambled/ran 28 yards through five defenders to score the go-ahead touchdown just before HALFTIME against the Texans. That’s greatness. Burrow hasn’t shown the ability to do this.

You are partially right but Mahomes did get into the league 3 years before Joey and Joey went to a team that had finished dead last and had a 2-14 record the season before. When Mahomes got to KC they had just won their division and had gone 12-4. KC was picking at 10 cause they traded with Buffalo. So Mahomes has been in the league 3 years longer then Burrow and also went to a much better all around team. I don't think people understand what Burrow has done for the bengals because it all happened so quickly.

If the Chiefs didn't have Mahomes, none of this success the last several years would have even been possible. We had a great team around the QB then, meaning Smith, but we didn't have a truly great QB. And that's basically the most important big piece you can have.

Not only that but if the D-line could have tackled Joe Burrow just once on a third and long in the AFC Championship game loss, Mahomes and KC would have been in 5 straight Super Bowls. Think about, the KC defense kept Mahomes out of 2 Super Bowl appearances. Mahomes has never had even a top 10 defense. He's never had a 1000 yd rusher. He's never had 2 top WRs. Only after the loss to the Bucs did he get a solid O-line. He's had Andy Reid and Travis Kelce.

IN SAYING ALL OF THAT, Mahomes is probably the best QB we've *ever* seen. He is the best player in the league by some distance, never mind just QB. He will be the first guy to break $70m a year and even without pieces around him, if he is on the field you have a big chance to win, he's that good.

We are in the same situation. Burrow is #2 and there’s not a thing wrong with that. He has plenty of time to catch up stats wise and has the skills to do it, but no one can argue with Mahomes. He’s had the best start to a career ever.

This debate is a lot closer than it seems. Mahomes does have the hardware, but was put into a pretty good situation. Burrow doesn’t have the hardware (yet), but his situation wasn’t great. Burrow got drafted to the worst team in the league, got injured, then turned the team into Super Bowl contenders a year later. Mahomes has the hardware so he still edges out, but if Burrow ever catches up, then it’s going to be pretty hard to name Mahomes as the best QB.

Despite that, he’s beat Mahomes 3 out of 4 times head to head, including defeating Mahomes in Arrowhead in the AFC conference game, which no other QB besides Tom Brady had ever even beaten Mahomes in a home playoff game - let alone the AFC conference game. All the while Burrow had the 31st and 28th rated OL (when healthy), which they weren’t for the AFC conference game that the Bengals won, in fact they had two out of five starters on that OL - and only one of those is still on an NFL team and he is on the Jets practice squad.

Mahomes cheated
Mahomes was 14-15 in the second half of the super bowl. Wasn't a lot of yards but he didn't have enough offensive possessions in the first half and a few short fields in the second half, but he was dissecting the secondary that second half and scoring on every drive. We all know what skip is doing though, mahomes is his new LeBron.
