It’s astonishing to think that ‘Seo Taiji and Boys’ began at a time when there were no large-scale record labels like today. Seo Taiji, all by himself, created music in his small room at home using only a computer MIDI program, instruments, and synthesizers. He then formed a group with two breakdancers. In a way, it was like an indie rock band, but what was even more surprising was that he mixed rock, hip-hop, electronic music, and even traditional Korean music into his compositions. These were the differences that set him apart from other Korean musicians in the 1990s. This is how I remember it as a 12-year-old back then.
I was in 6th grade in Korea when this song came out. Back then wearing everything with the tag was a thing to do. Like the hat, shirt, even pants.
