You know it’s simple when the video begins during the day, transitions into night and ends in the day again.
haha its not too bad. Started the project at dusk on a hot night then stopped for dinner & finished up the next morning
yeah.l caught that really quick YAHOO!
I started mine tonight but have to drill into brick and need to get a mason army but/screws, so I’ll be finishing tomorrow (hopefully)
What about the other 8 pieces that came in that box. This guys seem awesome to have a beer with..... I’ll pass on the DIY😉
2 years later and this video is STILL helping people. I'm about to install one of these for my window AC and the instructions made no sense. Thank you for making it clear and easy to do!
No problem Emily. Thank you for the kind words.
That Girl is a Can Do Kid! Lol. Just picking and good luck. I'm heading to fix my Daughter's A.C. now. God Bless All!
They say that if you can't explain your craft to a 2 year old, you don't actually understand it. In this scenario, I'm the 2 year old, and this guy explained it perfectly in one shot, which was not what I was expecting when I started searching CZcams, so I'm forced to conclude he really knows his stuff.
Thank you for the kind words 👍
So I installed my first AC today, and the bracket to support it, thanks to your video. The written instructions seemed incomplete and somewhat confusing, but seeing you do an install made everything so clear. I am not super handy, but managed to install the bracket and the AC unit in a very non-standard window. I truly appreciate your having taken the time to make and post this video. It is supposed to be 90 tomorrow (very rare here), and I will be cool and comfy thanks to my new AC and you. (The bracket I installed was an A/C-SAFE brand, Model AC-080, but it appears to be pretty much identical to the unit you installed).
Hey Jonny, I finally got both brackets in. I had it set up correctly all along. A friend came by and he was confused as hell by the instructions....but after the the problems i had with it. ...all he did was hammer the outter part down till the part with the rubber end fit over the concrete sill.
Thanks again for all you help man!!
You gained a subscriber!
Awesome! So glad you guys got it figured out! Enjoy the Cool AC. Been bloody hot here too!
Great video! And thank you for mentioning the offset to the side depending on the weight and balance of the AC Unit. I would not have thought to do this ! Excellent!
You're welcome John! 😀👍🏻
I wish u had a ledge outside my fourth floor apt ..lol. It's so easy when you could work from the outside in 😆. You def did make those confusing instructions easier to understand tho
Glad I could help. 4th floor thatll be a bit more challenging. Better tie your tools and pieces so they dont fall all way down while working 😁👍
I can honestly say this video has helped us out tremendously for the second floor of my family’s house.
I just now I have to get my plexiglass re-cut specifically for the dimensions of our new window above the AC
Glad I was able to help you guys all out 👍
WAY better than the instructions. I got moody from the heat and threw it in the towel. Lol
Lol glad I could help! 👍
Me too...me too
Getting one of these TO DAY. It is 🔥 in my apartment. Thank you!
Youre welcome, hope you get it sorted. Heat waves goin round are crazy hott!
*Really works well and Easy to instal **Fastly.Cool*

the instructions that come with this product are terrible. i watched this video and had it installed in 20 minutes. thanks dude!!
You're welcome! 😀👍🏻
Haha I agree was pretty difficult to read those stupid instructions this video was straight to the point
Instructions a mess, this video great! Thank you!!
Thank you for this. I bought one yesterday, and your video is extremely helpful!
You're welcome 😀👍🏻
Thank you for This. Me and my mom placed ours. We mexican it out - I moved into a Slide Window duplex for the time being and was left with these slide windows..it sucked but we did it. She also enjoyed your Intro and ending. Lol 👍 Thanks
Youre very welcome. Glad you two got it figured out and done. Haha thanks, I try and have a lil fun making these videos
Thank you for the video! I couldn't find another video that shows this product being installed. I'm not one for instructions. Thanks again!
You're welcome 👍🏻
Jonny, you nailed it bud!!!! Thank you for clearing up the questions I had!!!!!! from DV in Dallas!
You're welcome, glad it helped you out👍🏻 Hello from California! 🤙
Thank you so much. I brought a similar bracket and the instructions were VERY confusing. I had to make some modifications but it's on there very securely.
Yes you're totally right! The instructions were wayyyyy too complicated and confusing for this type product. I read over them at least a few times and figured a Video would help better explain the instructions. Glad you got it done! thanks for watching!
Jonny DIY lol, most of the instructions are in other languages.
Agreed! Bought the same product and gave up reading.
So thankful for your video. We just bought a bracket yesterday. We have the instructions lol but I didn’t want to do it wrong. Thank you so much for your helpful video I’m so glad I found it.
You're very welcome, happy I could help you out 👍
Thank you. That was very helpful. I just finished installing it with ease.
youre welcome! Glad you got it done. Stay cool! :)
Units was easy to unpack and slide out from the case. I installed this in the wall to cool my garage. I live in NV and it’s been cooling my garage pretty easily while being 105 degrees outside.
Nice! Yeah it's been a hot Summer 👍
Very good mate I just bought this kinda bracket and looked at the instructions and was going to return it Thankfully I came upon your video It was quick but to the point 👍🏽
You're welcome, glad I could help you out 👍
Thanks, Jonny! Very helpful!

❤ Thanks Brother. I realized I needed a board. I just put the A/C in anyway. Fix it later. Same exact item. 😊
You're very welcome. Happy I could help you out 👍
You made it super easy to understand. Kudos!!!! 😁👌👍
Bro, thanks for the video... truly helpful.
No problem! Glad it helped. Stay cool :)
I just used a piece of left over decking from when I rebuilt my porch and seems to be working fine. I didnt have to make holes and that's was my goal
Nice, yes just build a lil stand for it. Thats what Ive seen people make before they even had these things. These are good if you're on 2nd or higher floors
You Da Real MVP for this video!!!
Thanks for watching! Glad it helped you
Just what I needed thanks. Video is so much better than the manual and diagrams
You're welcome. Glad I could help 👍
Thank you! I just bought one and was kinda confused on the instructions. Some superheroes don’t wear capes. 😉
You're very welcome, glad I was able to help you out some. And thank you for your kind words 👍

Thank you for the help!
You're welcome, glad to help 👍
Thanks for info it'll be quick & easy.
You're welcome 👍🏻 glad I could help
Thanks brother for the tips
You're welcome Walt 👍🏻
Thanks for the simple and clear video! I have a question, is it possible to use this type of ac support when my walls are brick?
Yes you can. If the window sills are brick or cement youll have a harder time drilling the holes but still possible. To be honest though if you have cement or brick sills you could probably get away without a support as long as the AC isnt super heavy. Thanks for watching
Thank you very much for your sharing!!!!!
You're welcome, glad I could help 👍
thanks man big help !
Glad it helped Miles! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the help.
You're welcome, happy I could help you out 👍
Thx Mon! Clean up that room and do your laundry. Lol.
You're welcome, haha I'll tell my Uncle, it was his messy room and laundry that needed folding hahah 🤦♂️
Thank you for the video
You're welcome, glad I could help 👍
Great video. Informative and to the point. I do have one question. What happens when you take the A/C out of the window. Are you left with holes on the outside of your window or does that first block that mount outside the window stay there permanently.?
Thank you. Yes you can just leave it there after you remove the AC at end of Summer 👍🏻
Thanks man!!
No problem, glad it helped. Thanks for watching & commenting :)
i just did it ! your video helped a lot, thanks man !
Awesome, youre welcome. Glad you got it done! :)
Thanks so much, so much better than the directions that came with it
youre welcome, glad it helped you out :)
Finally, a short, concise, easy to follow and well filmed "how to" I've been searching for. Thank you. PS: dude, make your bed!
Thanks for watching & commenting Stephen. Cool Im glad it helped you out. Haha wasnt my bed, I'll tell my Uncle to make his bed, he's so messy! Lol!
OK Jonny, your off the hook on the bed. Keep up the good work. You have a knack for it.
Thanks Stephen! I will!
I want to try one of these, but i'm wondering if it'll work with vinyl siding since the siding has a bit of a give to it.
Could always put a thin board under the arm to distribute the pressure
Easy! Thanks
You're welcome 😁👍🏻
awesome - you're top 3 out of 4 videos shot @ Burnside LOL good vibes
Good times, except for ur shin scrape 😳😧😬
@@JonnyDIY hahahaha
I
Live in the 24
Floor will I be able to do
All the things you just did or does this work for ground floor ac installation?
You can do from inside, just maybe tie the bracket to something so you dont accidentally drop it out window
Thank you
Youre Welcome. Glad it helped! :)
Thanks man
You're welcome! Glad I could help 🙌👍
What can I use with on an older home with that brick ledge right at the bottom of the Windows outside?
honestly you dont always even need a bracket if you have a large enough and strong window sill. You want to make sure its slanted outward for drainage though. If you had to have a bracket you could still install this but with concrete screws
Thanks so much for this. I have the bracket you linked to on Amazon. The box says, "mostly indoor installation" and the image of an installed unit on their company website suggests that the concave block is somehow indoors, which it is not at all. Very confusing. Why doesn't the company make a video to clarify. They suck. You rock. Thanks again.
You're welcome. Yes video instructions should be the norm by now 👍🏻
they really should just pay Jonny for the rights to this video hahah
Why is it not flush up on the a/c unit where does the weight lean on?? At the end there's still a gap? Is that right I don't want the weight of the ac on my windows...please clarify I'm putting 2 in on my 2nd story home tomorrow- thanks
The point of the brackets is to transfer and displace the weight of the ac units from the sill to the outer wall 👍
Thank you! Unbeknownst to me, my Grandmother bought one of these and lost half the parts. What was left was *really* confusing, and now I know nothing made sense because of the missing components!
You're welcome, glad it helped you out 👍🏻
Thanks, helped but we still have a problem because the outside window sill sticks out really far from the wall and the bracket can’t reach the outside wall. Any ideas?
Hmm well if the bracket part that the AC sits atop is long enough and just the arm part isnt long enough you may have to buy a piece of wood that you could cut to fit. Maybe a piece you could cut to fit in between the original part and the AC bracket. Sort of like an extension piece. Then just screw the two together
Bro my window and sill are at the same level . Do i still need to add the blocks mentioned in at 1:34 . Can i mount the bracket directly on my window sill?
You can mount directly to sill if even heights 👍
I want to install one of these but I don't have a sill on my window to drill the bracket into. The window is flush with the vinyl siding. Any suggestions? Thanks for the video.
Hmm maybe screw a block of wood to the wall. You may need to build s custom support
How would I do this if I have a sliding window do I need to modify the directions any sort of tips or help would be greatly appreciated really good video btw! :)
Thanks. No modifications I can think of other than needing a piece of plywood or ridgid foam to seal up window above AC unit 👍🏻
Is it 3 inches for all ac units? What if mine seems smaller than yours? Is it still 3 inches from the middle? Mine seems to tilt more easily towards the right ride when i put it that far left. But an inch less and it seems pretty balanced. But maybe it shouldn’t be perfectly balanced on both sides? Maybe this is to compensate for the heavier side? I don’t know. Can anyone help?
The balancing point will be different for every unit, so wherever it feels balanced you can place arm 👍
3 of your top videos are @ Burnside
Thanks bro
youre welcome!
Thank you. Your video was so helpful. Lowes wants $150 plus another $55 if it's not on the 1st level. That's just being plain greedy.
You're welcome, glad to help. Good luck with project 👍
i have this same bracket but i dont have a drill is installing this with a screw driver possible ?
Id try and borrow one if possible. If not you could use a hammer & nails or use nails to pilot the holes (dull nail tip to avoid wood splitting) & hand screw in
So I got the Frost King bracket that does not require tools and the directions are even more confusing! Have ya got a video for those?
Hey L Lewis. Sorry I dont currently have a video on that one, but I just checked out a picture of it. Looks like its designed that you put the wide part of the bracket inside your house and extend that part slightly wider than your window opening. So it uses gravity/weight of the A/C unit to hold it in place. That seems to be the only difference than the one I installed in this video. Follow all my other instructions about the levelness etc. Then just install ac unit as usual. Good Luck!
I installed my new window AC and bracket today. My support was a different brand, but looks just like what you used. Have to say watching your video was a big help over trying to figure out what the hell they were talking about in the instructions. Instructions should be just watch your video. LOL Only problem I had was I had the bracket installed and I put the unit on it and it was tilting back toward me. WTF. Damn unit wasn't flat on the bottom. There was a bulge on the outer end. So I had to lower the bracket down about an inch to compensate for that bulge. Problem solved and my bedroom is now a cool 66F and it's around 95F outside.
Awesome, glad my video helped you out and you got it installed. Nice to beat the heat with the cool AC 🥶👍
Hi sorry to bother you... Does the leg of the bracket get tighter against the wall when the AC sits on it?
No bother. Yes it should tighten up as the weight of the AC pushes it tight against wall.
I rent in an apartment building, and CANNOT drill on the window sill outside of my apartment. Could this be mounted by just putting the blocks on the inside of the window, and drilling there instead, on the window "stool" part?
You could I believe, but you will need to put something to close the gap underneath the AC unit 👍
thx ! the freaking manual is in like 9 pt font or something . This video made it super easy to understand how to install it.
You're welcome, glad I could help you out 👍
Any suggestion on how to do it on a 2nd floor window?
Could install from inside and or use an extension ladder. Either way be careful especially when setting the ac unit up on sill
can you mount this on the inner window sill..inside the home..cant screw into my outer window sill due to it being hollow, newer windows...i dont want to drill holes and it dont work..now i would have water coming in down the walls..i could tape it,but dont want to take the chance.
Don't think it's long enough to reach inside, plus then youd have a big gap in window. You may want to look at the "no drill" brackets or build somethkng custom from wood
@@JonnyDIY thank you.
You suggest a 12 V drill to complete this install? Or does it need 20V? Thanks!
Either will work just fine 👍 I use 18v or 20v but the new 12v is so powerful and light
Quick question what do you do if you lost the plastic pieces to the bracket??
U could use a small block of wood to level it
It looks great but. The mobile home I am renting has vinyl siding. I had to place blocks of wood to firm the bracket against the siding. Also mobile home windows and not the same as a 2x4 constructed home. There is no well built frame. There is no sash from the bottom window to come down and help secure the AC unit in place.
Nice fix with the wood on the siding. Yeah you may need to use some plywood to block the sides and give it sturdier mounting
If your sill is vinyl, will this still work and be sturdy?
Yes as long as you screw through the vinyl into wood or concrete underneath it
Thank you for posting this. The instructions that came with my bracket were garbage.
You're welcome, glad I could help you out 👍
Is there a way to install if you don't have a sill wide enough ?
If youre talking about the opening of the window. It needs to be wide enough for the A/C Unit but if the sill depth is smaller that's ok. This bracket only uses 3 screws that mount sideways so your sill could be small only a couple inches and this bracket will still work. You could always screw a piece of wood down to the sill to make it bigger as well...
Under my window frame is red brick. Do I need anchors for the screws?
If screwing into brick you can get anchors or some tapcon screws
What material are the blocks made out of?
some sort of hard plastic
Thanks that was great I live in Mobile home and the windows are not the same size as house windows.
Youre welcome Joseph! Glad the video was of some help to you
Same!
Can you screw support on inside of window sill
Yes I suppose if thats the only option. You will just need to put some foam to fill the gap on each side of bracket when window closed 👍🏻
kool
I don't have an exterior window sill can I install the plastic blocks on the inside window sill
I believe so, only thing I can think of that will be different is you will have a larger gap to fill/cover around the bottom of window
Got it thanks
I live in the hood, how do you keep the window locked into place so no one breaks in with ease?
Cut a piece of wood (broomstick, pipe, etc.) That fits above the window in the side channel. Make it that exact size so no one could lift window up. Or drive a couple screws partially in to the side right above window, but thats dangerous in case of emergency.
So my window sill juts out so much that I can't have the support hit the siding and still be remotely stable. Would you recommend a different product that I might be able to use?
You could try putting a block of wood onto the arm to shim the wall out further. There are some "no drill" ac mounts. I think I put one in description. If the ac unit isn't super heavy and the sill is strong you can install without a bracket as well. Just be sure to slightly tilt outward for condensation run off
Thank so much!@@JonnyDIY
@@darrell1469 you're welcome 👍
I have gotten as far as pre-drilling the hole for the concave bracket (2" deep per the instructions and the length of my drill bit) but the screws are 3" long! My cordless screwdriver/drill is chugging to get it down the 2". Do I need to get 2" screws? Wut?
Hmm sounds like you need to charge drill up some. Try and drill as far down closest to 3inch you can. Maybe use bigger diameter drill bit. You want it the size of the smaller smooth part of the screw shaft. Ohh and rub the screw on a bar of soap or wax and itll drive in a lot easier
Ha! This is day 4 of trying to do this because the battery and then the charger died, then I had to go to ebay because the charger is discontinued (that will tell you how old my Makita is--about 25 years)! I did end up getting a longer drill bit and using soap. I don't know what the magic was, but I thank you for your response and for putting up this video in the first place! Keep up the good work!
Youre welcome. Haha I had a similar problem with some power tools last year. Had to get new batteries from the manufacturer, because they wouldn't hold a charge anymore. Glad you got it done!
What if I do not have that outside ledge can it be installed inside the window frame?
Yes can be installed on inner sill as well 👍
Thanks man
@@loganricharidson2308 you're welcome, glad to help 👍
Won't the water from the air conditioner eventually erode the house wall?
the AC is sloped away from house and drainage on bottom of AC Unit will drain water condensation out without it getting on wall
how do you do this if your on the second floor?
From the inside. You only need to screw 3 screws into the Sill. Im sure youll have to make a couple trips downstairs when you inevitably drop things out the window though lol
HEEEELPP your vid skipped the exact part I'm having trouble with. How do you tighten the screws or whatever so that the diagonal support legs are sturdy against the house? They just kind of dangle there and offer no support...
you just unbolt the diagonal arm and adjust it inward or outward (moving it to a new set of holes) til its at a position where when the weight of the ac is atop of it it, presses the arm against the wall and gives support
Bro same I need help with this exact part they don’t show how they tighten the screws for the part that rest on the wall and not all of us have power drills and a whole tool kit to do it that part is confusing
Is the ac unit attached to the bracket with any kind of screws or does it just rest on the bracket?
it just rests on top of it 👍
Thank you! 😊
@@erichsteyaert5409 you're welcome, glad I could help 👍
did it take you 2 days to install that AC?
Lol well I started on it late one nite then had to go to dinner, & finished it the next afternoon :)
Joe from H&J extermination, you may wanna check that bed for bedbugs. The way the bedroom looks, they sure love that type of environment.
Lol I'll let my Uncle know. Those were clean clothes he was in middle of folding when we got wrapped in this project 😆👍
