70 Yr old lady from Texas here. I needed to see how to put the ac in-especially those side pieces. I especially loved the part where you had it in the window and you showed us underneath to have that bar up against the window--I watched that part 4 times-made sure I saw what I saw--after that went right to the window and pulled it in tight-put the window down on it. I can't thank you enough.
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching! 😃
Frigidaire should honestly be paying you for giving a much better instructional walkthrough than either their paper manual or their online video walkthrough. This was excellent, especially covering both types of windows- THANK YOU
pool noodles are perfect for filling gaps and protecting the window casing. Easy to cut to any size
Just bought an AC for my window for the first time a few days ago and didn't realize I could drill into the plastic window frame to secure it. Felt like I might have done something wrong so I looked up videos and stumbled across this video. Thankfully I had done everything else pretty much right but I hadn't drilled the screws in...until now. Thanks
Thank you so much for showing the bottom of the unit. I kind of had a feeling that I didn't have my air conditioner out of the window enough. I'm on the second story so it's a little scary.
You have a good cameraman lolol every time you say something about a small detail he zooms in with his feet lolol I love it
I have installed many window AC units. A few things I do differently are 1) no screws, 1.5" dowels between top of sash and window frame, 2) foam between AC base and window frame to keep bugs out, 3) painters tape on all seams to keep bugs and heat out, 4) make sure AC units tilts downward to allow water condensation to drain. #1 is also a big deterrent to potential burglars.
Whats the foam called? I bought an AC that was missing the foam piece and Im not sure what to get
Do YOU have a video? Want installation without screws. Are screws necessary?
Never tried this before. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the easy-to-follow instructions!
Thanks for this man. I have to replace my AC unit in my bedroom and have never done this before. Kinda a "absentee dad" kinda thing lol. But you explained it simply and made it very easy for me to understand.
Thank you for this video! We had to replace our AC and have a new model that we've been wrestling with. Your video was so much better than any instruction manual!
Even though I've put air conditioners in before, I learned a few things, so thanks. First video in a while for me, I've been so busy. I have to go back and watch a bunch.
Hey, Sharon! Welcome back. Happy to hear you learned something. No worries, catch up when you can. Hope you are doing well!
Awesome! The top of my house gets soooo hot although I have central AC /heat...especially my den🤦🏽♀️...I'm finally gonna break down and buy an AC unit. Thanks for such an informative video. I feel like I can handle this installation now🤗
Of course u can..... it's super easy.
Thank you so much all my past 18 years I was putting wrong my AC due to your video I did perfect. Thank you so much ☺️
Good, I learned from your video that I have to slant my conditioner more down outside as I was getting moisture inside, THANK YOU!!!!
You are doing video’s on what I need to be doing. Thank you and please keep them coming. Again... that room turn out soooo good!
Yrs it did!!
Wow! I wish I knew you personally! I need a new unit, but don't know who to trust! You seem genuine and knowledgeable👍👍👍👍👍!!
Check out Facebook Market I brought mines there a week ago
Had to create a custom casement window mount. This video helped a lot in getting that done.
Sweet! We got a huge a/c in a second story window. With your close up video and directions, especially the foam and wood placement instructions along with the closeup up the underside resting on the ledge, it was actually easy.
Looking forward to the a/c cleaning video too.
Love your furry helper! 🐶
Thats my best bud! 😁😁 Thanks for checking out the video!
You make it look easy, I'm weak and have no friends though. Thanks!
Cleaned mine two days ago. Went to install. Slipped, and unit fell about 20 feet .RIP
Damn rip dude

Oh no! Happy no one got hurt!

Thank you SO much for showing every step! You're the only I could find that did that.
Love the sound of the cars going by LOL
Thank you for your excellent video! Feeling a little more comfortable in installing one!
Good morning! Thanks for the tutorial!
Good morning! Hope it helps out! Thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks for sharing your expertise!
You are awesome !Thanks for the help 😊
Don't ever use the accordion baffles, by some sheet foam and cut it to size and paint to match. It will do much better as a barrier to the outside air
Thanks, Brian.
They work ok if you use foil tape to cover them after installation
very informative Thanx for the great instructions
Very helpful thank you!
Like the one you removed so much neater.
Yeah that 2nd ac unit when you talked about the space where insects could come in and make a nest. Learned that the hard way my dad and I installed one in my room and I started getting wasps in my room occasionally. Turns out I had a wasp nest in between the window space. Took some big foam and placed it in there ain’t had nothing nest in it since
Thanks for the helpful tips
Good job Sir!
Thank you for sharing 👌🏼🖤🖤
Thank you for this video. You were a lifesaver for this Not! DIY mom.
Very happy to help! Thanks for watching!
We get a lot of spiders in our area so I follow this up with a LOT of clear packaging tape around all of the open spaces, and across both of the baffles, since they can get through there. Last year we had a very large wolf spider try to get through and it got stuck to the tape for a day before getting free ( and hopefully going back to where it came from!)
I have a wood window and the insulation isn't great.. that's always been a big fear of mine so I do the same thing but I use heavy duty duck tape. I dont care about the paint chipping off my wood window which is why I use such a strong tape. Also before I put my AC in every summer, the day before I make sure to spray around my window with heavy pesticides (I spray around my house a few times a year with a commercial grade pesiticide called Bifen on amazon - check out the reviews and you will be sold and spider free from now on). But obviously spraying the pesticide the day before I put the AC in gives it a chance to dry and detour any nasty crawley things from trying to make their way inside. The stuff I use is so heavy duty that if they did try it they would die before they make it in :)
Scary 😨.... 🕷 🕸
@@AwesomeMan2696 gotta love that duck tape.... quack ,quack
I always use painter’s tape 😂
Thanks bruh! Subscribed.
Thanks for sharing 💜🤗
Thanks for watching, Rachel!
My dad and I got the new air conditioner today is so fancy looking
Good job. Very useful.
Awesome to hear it helped out! Thanks for watching! 😁👍
Awesome show thank u😊😊
Good job!!
Thank you
Your video is exactly what I was looking for! Is it ok to leave the unit in the window? Love all the tips you gave also!
Thank you for the infor
Nice video........thanks
Thanks 👍
Thanks for watching! Hope it helps!
I have double pane (insulated glass unit - "IGU") windows. It looks like you do too, but I'm concerned about drilling into the sash and possibly cracking the glass of the sealed unit. So I'm hoping to come up with an alternative to driving screws into the sash before purchasing.
Thanks.🍀
Can I install a through the wall ac unit in my living room with the garage on the otherside?
Well Done
Dude this was epic. I live in an old house though. I feel no matter what I do something goes wrong ,Can we have a zoom meeting? I need help.
I'm putting my a/c up today cus my poor dog is lying on the floor,so I know he's hot and bothered. I got to this video looking up if the window sash goes on top of the piece that's on top of the a/c or behind it. thanks great video. 👍
What happens if those folding screens don't fit a food the whole window and it's the on AC and window you can use
find one someone put out in the alley, esp an older whirlpool heavy dog from the 80s and earlier,,disassemble the dog, removing the guts from the housing, tuner cleaner for the inside electronics,,wipe as much dirt as you can reach with a screwdriver and rag pieces, when clean plug it in test all controls,,,,I used the garden hose on mine,,, water caused a large capacitor to short, which I dried out with sun and a fan, resoldered the cap wire into the capacitor,,bingo runs fine,I did also straighten out all the aluminum foil fins on the outside of the unit,,fine saniwipes I taped onto the inside air puller as a filter,as it dries it deodorizes the room air as it cools, the AC is 50 years old and still runs quiet and works well
Is this a good brand I was thinking about purchasing one
My ac doesn't cool. I bought a new one And my 2 sons with install it tomorrow.. 90F the entire week uff is for my kitchen. Nice info
After installing many window AC units over the years. Idk why people don’t know the AC unit slides out of the outside metal casing & you can install that piece separate, mount it so it’s secure & then just slide the main AC unit in & ur done! That way it’s not as heavy & if u drop it, you don’t damage the entire AC unit!🤷🏻♀️
How would people who haven't "installed many ac units" would know that
Exactly. I don't understand how people don't know that either
It’s not that hard to hold it for a second and close the window.
What about the vent on the outside of the ac? Bugs or rain can get on it over the summer?
When it rains, water seeps under the plastic accordion baffles and fills the metal channel that the baffles slide into. Any suggestions on how to seal that area? Thanks.
See, these new widows fit the unit and baffles so air tight. Im in a very old house with original windows, and storm windows behind them. And the window jam is so large and sets so high, that to not have the AC tipping inside, I have to prop it up on boards and stuff a bunch of foam and fake insulation under the unit, in the window jam.
Amen not honest people wanna get into the house. So informative thank you. Sorry typo.
What
My windows are plastic/vinyl. Wont the screws make the plastic splinter?
Thought i did not install my window unit right because water from ac is leaking inside my window. I hooked up like you did. Why is it leaking inside & not outside?
You forgot the part where you seal around the unit with spray foam! A lot of useful tips here, much appreciated my man.
Took apart your whole AC and cleaned it? Man. We had so much time in 2020.
I did not know the things in the back of the air conditioning can cut u. Thank goodness mine wasn't heavy when I was installing it cuz I was grabbing it from the back.
What kind of screws to use ??
A tip for you. Remove the AC’s core first next time. Put the core in only AFTER you install the casing and bracket.
ive got a 21 inch window and this ac just barely fits in with the side panels, wasnt hard to figure out installing just need a screwdriver and it kicked in pretty fast
What do you that thing in 10:52?
Do i need to let the gas sit before i use???
We keep the ac in the window . In fall with cover it all.
My windows slide left and right to open...not up and down. Is there a way to install or am I shit out of luck?
great video. I just find it hard to lift
Thank you. Yes they can be. I definitely recommend a helper if you can get one. Thanks for watching!
You weak af no cap
@@joseoscal8582 yOu wEaK aF nO cAp
ah yes this is more easy than having hole on the wall of my room and having bars to support outside part of ac
👍
Those baffles do leak a lot if they are more spread out than in this video.
I did not see when you placed the flat base on the window sill.
Can you use caulk versus foam to fill in any places where light is shining through?
Hey, Lauren! I wouldn't recommend it, only because AC's are a seasonal thing. If you intend to take the AC out in the winter, you would have a mess on your hands.
@@TheFixerHomeRepair Do we have to take the a/c out in the winter? It’s very hot where I live but cools down to the 50’s only for a couple months. Is it bad to leave the a/c unit in the window if you don’t use it for 2 months? Thank you in advance if you see this and reply. 😊
@@kellyrichmond887 it’s perfectly fine to leave it in all year if you don’t live where it snows. I live in South Carolina and we leave ours in year round. We just unplug it in the winter.
@@SCSweettea68 I appreciate your reply, thank you. I’m in Arizona, and I’ve never once seen snow where I live. I bet it’s beautiful where you live. 😊
what if you have old plugs the ones that are two holes? is it dangerous?
Of course
No grounding
Sorry for late replay tho
Hey can you show install on a mobile home?
Heres a helpful video
czcams.com/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/video.html
It’s a pain because I get bugs slipping through the ends what do I do
Use packing tape or if duck tape to seal around the ends and edges. Tape it up good so you don't have to worry!
What if you don’t want to put screws in
What if you have a screen that you don’t know how to remove
What about side hung Windows?
Hey, Henry. I am sorry I have actually never installed an AC in a side hung window. Maybe some of the viewers will see this comment and can help you.
YOUNG MAN ,
I HAVE BRAND NEW " ARCTIC KING >WWK05CMO1N " JUST cannot find the serial number on this unit ?
Can you mention the materials used to install the AC please? It wasn't mentioned in the video aside from the screws and tge bracket.
“Not honest people.” Well said. Try living in Bakersfield
What if the window slides from side to side
Im asking the same thing rn aha
i didn't see any foam seals or bug gaps filled
I am 10 and I did this by myself
So much extra road noise with the AC in. I wouldn't mind seeing a video with that addressed.
🤙🏽🤗
Yeah my goddamn unit weighs 130Lbs. I have to get it just right in one quick motion.
