Seeing Obi-Wan enraged at Maul mentioning Qui-Gon... oh my God. It just shows that despite his serene mask, he still struggles and is far from the perfect Jedi, yet he still tries to be perfect. It's on of the main reasons I love him and why he is my favourite character in all of Star Wars.
+Dork Jedi What also makes that whole scene so awesome is that his attacks remind people of Luke's onslaught when Vader mentions Leia. Showing how Luke's first mentor also gave into rage when he was pushed to far just like Luke.

+Dork Jedi I never really saw Obi-Wan as being too in control of his emotions. I think I've seen several little outbursts here and there. In fact I often wondered if he used jokes to deflect the anger he feels. In the scene where he sees Maul for the first time in Clone Wars, I think he was making jokes all over the place.
Celia De La Poher Yeah, I noticed that he made plenty of jokes in that show too. Whilst it seems to have always been a part of his personality, perhaps it was also a way for him to deflect any anger that rose up within him. Nice interpretation. :)

Really says a lot about Palpatine's skill, when both Obi-Wan, a jedi master and Asajj, a sith assassin, can't beat them and yet Sidious could be both.
AntDan to be fair neither obiwan or ventress were at 100 percent
Obi Wan did beat the both of them later at Florrum. He chopped of Savage's arm, and they ran away from him.
Obi would of lost that fight had Maul continued the duel (he easily over powered him with his sheer will of the force) but he stopped to save his apprentice. Literally only Sidious was capable of taking down Maul the way he did. For he was the only one that knew all of his weaknesses. He was the one that trained and raised him. Maul at this point in the series was stronger than Obi, not only because his power over the force but for the mere fact that Maul is one of the few who can cause Obi to lose his temper hence like in this fight, irregardless of how good of state he's in. Fights between force wielders is just as much mental battle as it is a battle between strength in force power.

when he mentioned Qui Gon you could tell Obi Wan was genuinely pissed.
It was just like when Vader mentions Leia to Luke, it's nice to see that even Obi-wan was like at one point.

He’s a defensive duelist so when maul angered him into being offensive it completely threw him off.

after this damned awesome fight, my respect for Ventress went up ten fold, cuz she evolved so much as a character. She's not just a rage filled killer with a one dimensional personality, she's a realist. She's no friend of Kenobi....but she's pragmatic enough to know, better side with him than two psychotic dark jedi.
Though not a full redemption story, I loved what they did with her, and in her later appearances. She does what she has to, to survive, and you have to respect that.

@Schwanzus Longus He's the master of the defensive form, which would be the all around best tactict to use against any fighting style. Mace Windu, who's considered to be the best deulist of the Jedi, said that he would not be able to beat Kenobi, and Obi-Wan beat a Dark Side Anakin, who at that time very well could have the single best deulist (yes, even better than Yoda and Palpatine).
@Schwanzus Longus I understand that Obi Wan beat Dark Anakin with strategy and not pure skill, but he lasted in that fight much much longer than many Jedi would have. Also, Mace was considered the best deulist of the Jedi Order. He didn't say Obi-Wan was better than him, just that he would not be able to win against Obi-Wan.
Also, what have you seen that makes you think Plo Koon and Kit Fisto are superior Jedi? If you think about it, Obi-Wan is the only Jedi to have beaten two Sith lords besides Anakin/Darth Vader. Three if you count Ventress. Not to mention, he killed Grevious who was feared for being a Jedi killer.

Later on when Maul and Savage fight Sidious, if you look at that scene more closely, you'll notice that it almost mirrors Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's battle against Maul in Episode I. In that, Maul finds himself watching helplessly as his brother fights Sidious alone which ends in his death, putting Maul in the very same position as Obi-Wan over a decade before when Qui-Gon was killed. Seeing the devastated look upon Maul's face, it's almost as if he finally understands the pain he put Obi-Wan through when he killed Qui-Gon.
He got him back when he said later on "you know, i shouldn't have cut you in half, i should have aimed for your neck instead." {not fully sure if he said before/after this, but still.}

Savage is just a big fuckin guy in general which makes him harder to beat. How he stood up to Anakin and Obi-Wan makes no sense to me given that he was trained for about 5 minutes by Count Dooku

This fight is better than any in the movies, and certainly better than the crap they have in Rebels. I just love the way they use their fists and feet almost as much as their lightsabres.

I like how Ventress used the force often to simply deflect Savage's attacks. You barely see that in fights. The most you see is them using to force to fully immobilize their opponents.
That’s because Savage was almost never focused on the force while fighting, but on his physical skills. That made him vournable to that kind of tricks

+Alec Byres Ehhh, I personally wouldn't say one's better than the other, they're aimed at different crowds. And in my opinion, Gene Roddenberry has a much better track record as a scriptwriter than George Lucas (although I have no idea if Lucas himself wrote for this episode specifically, or even how much he contributed to the scripts for TCW in general). That being said, TCW is pretty top-notch overall.
It always amused me how characters usually have no trouble parrying lightsaber attacks during a dual but literally always take a hit when their opponent decides to just kick them instead!
This show was absolutely AMAZING! Sad that it's over.

The camera work in this scene is outstanding. Fight was well done as well. But if I had vote on best fight scene in Clone Wars series it would be Darth Maul vs Pre Vizsla.
