And you ain't lying these dudes online selling used bikes for brand new prices naww take you time and look and you will find what you want. GOD Bless safe riding brother. This is a great bike. It is really an all around performer, good for the canyon or twisty road, good for long trips and overall a great value. This bike is on the heavier side. This bike really shines on long sweepers and on the highway. It is a bit of heavier bike but that weight completely goes away when you're up to speed. This bike does not shine in low speed corners, and in the city. I don't think it's super flickable, especially in low speed corners. I rode a Honda CBR 500r before this and that bike was defintaley lighter and more flicker through tight corner but had nowhere near the power the FZ6 does. Overall these things are great bikes and really great value if you're looking for a 600 that is useful for more things than just aggressive track riding.

    @steadmanbowers6140 Před 5 lety +1

    Great review, answered alot of my questions. I find the online info confusing especially the hp @ rpm stats. I've read what you stated, 98hp @ 6500rpm but most other info online states 98 hp @ 12,000? A little confusing. I guess you would know..... What rpm's are you at doing 60mph (highway speed) on 6th gear. I am looking for something smooth and doesn't scream if I decide to cruise for a long time on the highway which I need to do to get to better riding areas where I live. I am not necessarily looking for tons of power for speed but comfortable riding. Hope you have some input to help me clear this up :) Thanks.

      @hernandocortez6351 Před 4 lety

      Hi Steadman, I've been seriously looking into this bike as well for touring. From all the articles I can find, it makes 84 to 87 hp at the back tire at 12,000 rpm. At 60 (from what I've read) it's turning over 5,000 rpm. Could be a little buzzy on the highway but I can live with that. Maybe add bar-end weights.

    • @AJoyrider
      @AJoyrider  Před 5 lety

      Hey! I sold this bike a while ago. But chain maintenance is just like any other bike with a chain, as long as its properly tightened, kept lubed, and not worn out you'll be golden. Takes alot to wear out the chains if you have a quality one. So if you don't know how to install it, pay someone to and then keep it lubed. Then adjust as chain gets broken in

    • @robthesamplist
      @robthesamplist Před 5 lety

      Its really easy to tighten and adjust the chain providing you have the right socket and torque wrench. I've just put a new chain and sprockets on myself - used a D.I.D chain and JT sprockets - about the best you can buy. Used a master rivet link with a tightening tool, it was my first motorbike chain and sprocket change and it went fairly well the only hard bit was getting the front sprocket off - had to lock a fibreglass axe handle in the rear wheel get a long breaker bar extension on the nut whilst my foot was on the back brake for it to budge. It was worth it though, i'm not that mechanically minded but if you have the want to do it, its easy. If you are using a master chain rivet type link be careful not to squash the o rings too tight, I had to buy another link for it as I just squashed them too tight and wasn't happy with it so did it again.

    Had my 06 fz6 for 5 years and 30,000kms now. Only problem I ever had was the cam chain tensioner started to go. 40$ for a manual one and about 1 hour to change in the drive way. That's about it. Its almost like the corolla or civic of the sport bike world. If that even makes sense?

    Do you still have this bike? If not: how did it die? If so: How was reliability?
    My daily-rider Suzuki '92 GS500E blew something deep in the engine, and the cost of an engine rebuild is equal to about a %30 down payment on your exact bike (same year, model, and frickin' color) at a dealership near me. I've been approved for financing and will be taking it for a test ride, I rely on motorcycle gas milage to save money because of my commute so I'm trying to get back in the saddle as soon as I'm able so odds are I'll get the bike either way, but any advice on issues to watch out for on these bikes is very appreciated.
    Thanks, hope to hear back from you soon.

      @JonPrevost Před 7 lety

      I'm 6'4" with a 35" inseam. It's perfect. I'm not going to lie, you will still look like a bear riding a tricycle but this is the best "sport" bike for tall riders. Notice I omitted the big part because this bike isn't made for weight. I'm ~190 lb and with any sized pillion the braking destroys the suspension. This is the down-side to riding more upright. Higher center of gravity just pushes that nose down too much to be safe. I've added 2 brothers exhaust, and a power commander with a DIY gutted intake box and would still only re-purchase this bike if it had adjustable front suspension. If I rarely had a pillion then this bike is perfect, as it was for many years. It sings and handles remarkably well for it's weight.
