    I absolutely love your photos. I can honestly say I’ve learned a lot since I began watching your videos. I’ve been told my photos are getting better. Before I’d just shot without considering finding the right composition and end up with like 20 shots all looking similar and without subjects. Now I think about the light, subject, etc.

    Hi Nigel! I’m new to photography and am inspired not only by your beautiful videos and photos, but also by your story and the health crisis which led you to pursue your dream. Your down to earth style and the joy which you communicate are contagious. Thank you from Cuba!

    I have to admire your perseverance, and I think you were rewarded with some lovely images. Honestly, the world doesn't need any more photographs of Skye with the sun breaking through the clouds, but I've never seen it captured like this in the mist and rain. Thanks for sharing.

    Really understand your predicament Nigel. Was there myself during the first week of November for 6 days. It rained for 5 days and photography was so challenging. When the light emerged on the 6th day it was magnificent and that’s when the true magic of Skye became apparent.

    One thing I always think with landscape photography, is that the 'popular' locations aren't well known to absolutely everybody! Yes, we're in the UK, so a lot of us already know about this location - but imagine looking at that last image having never seen a picture of this place before, you would be blown away by it. Great VLOG as always mate.

    • @NigelDanson
      @NigelDanson  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks Henry - you are quite right. Popular doesn’t make them less amazing. So what if 1000s of people have been there. 👍

    I love your optimism, and the fact that you place a camera somewhere, then walk past it to get footage of you going somewhere, then run back to get the camera, and then actually head somewhere. :D

      Part Time Monkey This is one the funniest comment I’ve ever read as well related to photography. And the thing is not only in this video but in others I kept wondering the same thing which makes it seem funnier. At first, I know he’s there alone and yet I was wondering who exactly is taking those video footage of him walking away, across the landscape and such.

The first image cropped at 4x5 is really amazing - I'd never have thought of using that ratio with huge vistas but it really works. Food for thought for me there. That picture st 6:22 is awesome and if I had it I’d surely love to put it on my wall. That picture at 6:40 I guess It’s a drone taken picture thats just stunning for the cliff and landscape. You inspire much. I’m in the U.S. and never been to the UK (yet) but the UK does have some stunning landscape worth seeing. However just thinking about this video and the weather in that even stunning photography can be had when the weather goes seemingly south as that to me is a temporary change in the landscape conditions and that should be captured if possible to reflect on. As long as it’s not raining on your camera.

    Love your videos. I do have one question not related to photogrphy though; Who is performing your background music? Love it!

    Often the suffering will lead to a better than expected image, you have to be out there in place rather than on the sofa! Great images Nigel worth the effort. I use Weather Pro HD on the iPad which has both rain radar and satellite animations, you can easily enter a location for a more accurate representation of what to expect and is often accurate too.

      Yeah I have weather pro. And clear outside. I suppose they don’t stop the rain... now there is a great idea for an app!

    Great video. Your images in bad weather are way batter than mine in good weather

      Ha ha - bad weather often yield good images (didn’t somebody famous once say that 😉)

    Hi Nigel
    Stunning photos, especially third one in which u were standing on d cliff.
    By the way, which weather app do you use in the video?

    You haven’t disappointed Nigel, another thoroughly enjoyable video and lovely images. This is probably the only time of year now that you can avoid the crowds as Skye is definitely a victim of its own success. I sympathise with the Islanders who pay the price for the selfish few who dump their rubbish all over this beautiful isle.

      Yep - not wrong. It was very peaceful though. And probably one of the most beautiful times to visit

      @NigelDanson  Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah Loch fada was stunning when I saw it through the mist. I didn’t see the rowan tree as hadn’t read much about the location. I wanted to see it my way first. Thanks for the kind words

    I went out last month on a mushroom hunt, could I find any photogenic ones... nope. After many hours I headed home disappointed and I was just around the corner cuttin though a park when I seen a real beauty! Literally a stones throw from my house. Gotta love the adventures and stories photography gives us to share! Love the vlog, keep em comin! :)

    Liking the processing and muted colours Nigel, we were in Skye in June and the weather was pretty damp then.
    Envious of the conditions you encountered on Storr.

    Some very nice moody shots you got! Nice to someone other than us Scottish photographers having to deal with our temperamental weather! LOL! Not sure if you've been asked and answered already however where was that hikers pod you were staying in?
