Ice Blast is STAYING at Blackpool Pleasure Beach?!

- Ice Blast is currently closed at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, but is there the possibility of it reopening for 2025? Recently, work on Ice Blast started after a full season of inactivity around the ride, so could we be seeing removal preparation starting, or prep work for a big refurbishment? I worked as an engineer at pleasure island cleethorpes and we had a double shot tower. We never took the gondola off to access the cylinders, we put it on stilts.
I think with the amount of time ice blast has been closed it could well be getting a full refurbishment including the gondola. Fingers crossed

Knowing the PBs past track record of late, I wouldn't be surprised if the spare parts for the Ice blast came in a box labeled ACME 😂😂

Since Ice Blast has been closed, one thing that has intrigued me is the potential for S&S's new 'Spin Shot Tower' technology to allow seats to flip. The page on their website states how it can be retrofitted to existing shot towers so if Pleasure Beach wanted to go all out refurbishing Ice Blast, new seats like that would provide another new experience without having to build an entire new ride.
Maybe its the same parts that Hex is waiting for.....

Great vlog Scott, I would like a drop tower, because it is part of the skyline, but the bowladrome isn't doing anything now, it's taking up space, and the old dark waltzer, makes thst area look a bit shabby
Gotta agree with you there. If they keep Ice Blast and get the Gyro swing over the other side it really is the best of both worlds!

I’m still not sure. Two rides is undoubtedly better than one however. I did think that a gyro swing at the entrance would be cooler, but I can admit that the bowlodrome area is good as well. Ideally ice blast would be relocated but I highly doubt that despite speculation. Great video Scott

I’m in two minds about this, on one hand like you say it means an existing right stays while a new one comes in, plus it doesn’t have to have the Viking theme which means hopefully a more vibrant colour palette🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏
On the other hand it would mean one less site for a new coaster further down the line if it goes there.
To be fair they could retheme it to blend in? Brown Blast 😂
I think if Ice Blast can be improved would be great. I'm not a big fan of Gyro Swing. I just find it a bit equally Meh to be honest. Although it would be a great queue eater. Having both would be the ultimate outcome.
I want it to be relocated to Wild Mouse's spot, it's current location is just too perfect for a gyro swing (even though there's a good chance it'll go in Grand Prix's spot).

it is not going to go where the grand prix is and i doubt very much there is a good chance at all of it happening. Most likely will be a coaster in the grand prix space

I’m willing to predict the Gyro goes where the arcade building currently is
I seem to recall Enterprise at Towers getting some work done to it and being partially reassembled after it had sat SBNO leading to some people thinking it might come back only for it to be confirmed as scrapped. I did wonder if Ice Blast going through something similar, having a litle work done to it before the park sell it on to somewhere else perhaps? But if it gets fully refurbed and stays then that is great.

I think you might be spot on. The arcades used to be big revenue generators when the park was free to enter. But there are umpteen other places in Blackpool where you can play whack a mole and exchange tickets for a mini bag of Haribo.
There is a lot of dead space at BPB (as I will continue to call it): the waltzer in the dark (name long since forgotten), the Astro Swirl building, the Grand Prix site, the Steeplechase site (wishful thinking), the Infusion site (wishfuller thinking) … all contenders for the Intamin swing.
I’ll miss PlayStation the Ride. I did a photoshoot on it in 1998. Rode it continuously for an hour before the park opened to the public. An absolute privilege and joy.
There’s far too much dead space in what used to be a ride intensive park.

Yes, I’d be happy for Ice Blast to get new parts which result in reinstating its former blast, with a gyro swing in FY4 area. I agree, it would do wonders for the skyline too.

If Ice Blast is staying, I would retrofit it with the spin shot ride vehicle's from S&S. It will never happen, but if it did, it would be insane.

Me and my two girls ain't renewing passes this next season so I don't care what they do ...but that said for me ice blast will go river caves will be sbno and gyro not put in next year think they will skimp out on spending unfortunately
Capacity is key for all the parks keeping ice blast would be better for everyone but ive got a sneaky feeling it's time is numbered 😮

thay cud do ice blast a bit like volcano at fantasy island skegness but with a big ice or snow rock built around it
Never seen the park so quiet, I went on the 8th aug and the longest queue time was like 15 mins, even rides like Valhalla were pretty much walk on
It’s been a very mixed bag lately
we call it ICE BLAST Amanda as that is the name YOU put on it
Glasses look good Scott look like mine, i hope we get both rides as it makes sense for through put at the park and if we get River caves back as well it will make a very good season in 2025 😁😁😁 and hopefully a new coaster in 2026 will be very interesting ain't been this season to Blackpool as with all the rides down its a bit disappointing at Pleasure beach but i do love the park its one of my favourites and a local park to me 😅😅

Anybody know anything about the river caves? Has been closed for ages for maintenance but never seen anyone inside of the ride !

This country is lacking in good shot and drop towers, imagine if they gave ice blast an upgrade so it could do both, just speculation but definitely wish it to be around

As the work was being done during park open hours didn't anyone think about asking the engineers what was happening?
They're working in an area that can't be publicly accessed right now, and wouldn't tell people anyway.
I really hope it stays. Purely because that area of the park is fine as it is. The new swing ride (imo) would by FAR too big for that area. The Bowlodrome area imo is the obvious choice as it needs some serious work to bring the area up to scratch.

Not sure, Ice Blast was there first, and the Big One is hardly quiet by the Big Blue

If Ice Blast does reopen then I hope they change the name. The Gyro Swing would fit perfectly where the old Bowl-A-Drome arcades were. They need to start using the available dead space around the park to liven the place up, even get rid of the pointless water fountains.
Perhaps it'll go back to Play Station, as Amanda likes to call it. 😂
Am I being cynical, new season passes are due and pleasure beach start work on ice blast and new ride being talked about in social media, yet PB haven’t said a word (I don’t think). Are they hoping people renew passes without any confirmation about their ride lineup for 2025!

I hope it stays, even though a gyro swing would look amazing at the front of the park. I really can't see them putting a gyro swing where Grand Prix is, it wouldnt take up that much space. Near the fountains would be also a perfect spot.

If ice blast stays its bad news. Means it’s the replacement attraction for Grand Prix. Gyro swing > rubbish old cars, sure. However, means we aren’t getting a coaster which Blackpool needs to get people back (Along with no rider pass) .
Nah, Grand Prix replacement isn't going to be a flat ride. 100% confident of that.

When they took out that bank loan it most likely had a bit extra to cover a refurb of ice blast and the river caves

I changed a little bit although the thing about the gyro swing is still on there, hope it is still happening though as pleasure beach could do with having at least one really good flat ride, an indoor flat ride would be my preferred choice though, as there’s nothing for thrill seekers to do when the weather is shite.

@@yourexperienceguide mostly but not always, and even if they do, it’s not very pleasant riding in the rain and getting drenched, or less at least in the past we had space invader, the black hole, trauma towers, the whip et cetera, families have plenty of indoor rides but thrill seekers have none at all which does bother me.

Amanda Thompson spoke about Ice Blast saying it was awaiting parts and she was right , yet everyone slagged her and criticized her, some CZcamsrs cough cough 🤔 said they heard it from the horses mouth that it was to be taken away , its all conjecture, its the same with the River Caves , all conjecture 🙄
In future listen to Amanda and take CZcams rumours with a pinch of salt.
The rumours came directly from BPB staff, including Grand Prix’s removal, Ice Blast being closed all year, Big One retracks, and other things that were correct 🤔

@@davidGPS95 In November I released a video saying the rumours were that Grand Prix would be closed (it is), Ice Blast would be closed for 2024 (it is), and possibly removed for 2025 (that's still a possibility but not looking likely now), Skyforce may be relocated or removed (unknown), and Avalanche was/is approaching end of service life (still a rumour).
