I have to say I've never seen too many sikhs in the trades good for you brother.... would you recommend getting into the trades as an electrician for a guy who's 19 and can't decide to go to uni or the trades
When I finished highschool I thought I would go to University. Little to no knowledge of what an Electrician was. I applied for a program called "Electrical Foundations", thinking it was for electrical engineering. 😂 The program had a 2 year waitlist. One day I got a call from the school to start the course the following week (about 8 months after applying). I jumped on it right away, got all my books and was ready for a career in engineering. I was 18 years old, first day of school, instructor walks into class, he says, "who is ready to be an electrician?". 😂 I wasnt sure what to do, but I was told by my instructors, "no matter what you want to do in life, FINISH YOUR TRAINING!". Nice tool pouch mate, could you tell me how much do you make yearly? I’m planning to get into a trade school but I just want to be informed from everything before I shoot my shot! Thank you.
Arthur Kayabalian you make how much you want to make but average electrician salary depends on where you’re from. In Massachusetts where I’m from average is around $60K a year . But over time and side jobs can easily bring that up to $80K it’s a good trade to get into and one of the harder/smarter trades
You’re carrying way too much tools when you could have tools that serve multiple purposes. It’s bad for all that extra weight. Your hips and knees are gonna thank you later down the road
Is not your master / boss who pays your tool. The only thing there is my own when I go out the front door. Are my underpants. Everything else delivers my company. (car, workwear, tool, safety gear shoes / glasses. laptop, iPad, mobile phone.) If I have to do something must have got alive.
Hey Cole, this trade is by far the best! Your jobs are always changing, you meet new people, you're constantly learning in the process. Being an Electrician is a great career with many auxiliaries leading to field work, office work, specialized technician work. Very diverse and beats being a plumber or tin basher! 😂 I would give it a shot! You'll need to either find a company willing to hire you, or take a pre-apprentice training course. Any questions feel free to ask me! Tools cost you about $300 to $800. Try joining your local electrical union.
Cole Skaggs as of last March I didn’t know much either , but I was a really good performance mechanic and got in the trade by family , now I have a shit load of tools and knowledge of conveyor systems and can bend pipe as good as journeyman and lots of people who’ve got years in . All depends on you .
Dr. OHMz Nice! I had a Sikh friend in school. Him and his family were some of the nicest people I've ever met. I'm an athiest but I have a lot of respect for your religion and what it preaches.

Only reason they havent apprenticed me is because theres only allowed one gas apprentice at a time and there 3 of us working for this company. The apprentice is in his mid 40s and is in no rush finishing his apprenticeship and is all about working which is leaving me in limbo. Hes been an apprentice for years.
Damn, with that kind of tool pouch, you will be disabled at your early 50'. It's like carrying 10 to 15 pounds of weight, 8 to 10 hr a day, six days a week.
Very True! It would definitely throw out a hip or two! I'm only showing what tools I keep in my pouch. I sling the suspenders over my shoulder and take it from job to job.
I usually carry a tool bag with petty much everything you have in there and a bit more where i can fit my drill hacksaw ect and load out my bags depending on the task at hand, is a bit of a hassle to carry a bag around and depending who you work with you need to keep a third eye on your tools but I can see the difference once i have been climbing ladders for a few hours sometimes i just have 2 screwdrivers and some cutters while doing lamps

@@TGTA90 if you're saying no thanks to looking at other products then ok...
Are you working in the lower mainland ?
Currently in West Van.
Hey, I am an apprentice from Surrey. Just wondering is learning experience better if you are in the union?
Check out the Irwin demo drivers they’re better then Klein and $10 for 2 of them
the Southwire one is also better than the Klein thing.
Gator back makes a good pouch
What’s the best way to steal some mongo from my worksite without getting caught?
No homo lmao
What is the brand of tool belt?
Kuny's! Are you located in Canada?
You’re carrying way too much tools when you could have tools that serve multiple purposes. It’s bad for all that extra weight. Your hips and knees are gonna thank you later down the road
You carry your home with you!?...! Too many tools in that pouch Man ..,how much it weigh ,like ten kilos average i think🤔...!?👍
No instrument to test if live or dead at hand? It's amazing how many of these, see my tools USA electricians, don't seem to have such. Why?
These are just my hand tools! I keep a meter in my bag with all the non essential tools. I always have a NCVT with me at all times.
@@DrOHMz pleased to hear it. Keep safe by both ensuring you have your voltage checking instrument with you and by dodging the virus.
😷⚡
Electricians are Immortalz lol... Will do brother! Be safe yourself also!
Is not your master / boss who pays your tool. The only thing there is my own when I go out the front door. Are my underpants. Everything else delivers my company. (car, workwear, tool, safety gear shoes / glasses. laptop, iPad, mobile phone.) If I have to do something must have got alive.
Haha you're living the dream big guy! That's awesome! I'm sure those jobs exist, but have to find it!
I prefer to buy all my own tools. If I need to do something different or on my own I have my own tools to do it.
Having your own tools is way better. You have options. Plus who the hell don't want tools!
KinGIIRomE exactly!
@@KinGIIRomE Well, nobody stops you from buying or bringing your own stuff.
I'm interested in this trade but I don't know anything about it
Hey Cole, this trade is by far the best!
You need a tool cart not a tool belt
Might Buy The Milwaukee Rolling Packout Unit!
dont come across many singh electricians on youtube, bare ratings brother
Where you from??
@@DrOHMz good ol' brampton
No Knipex?
Haha no! They are definitely more popular in the UK and other European countries. Is it worth the upgrade? They are at a premium price point.
Is that a kara on your wrist?
Yes!
Dr. OHMz Nice! I had a Sikh friend in school. Him and his family were some of the nicest people I've ever met. I'm an athiest but I have a lot of respect for your religion and what it preaches.
Nice! You still in school (electrical)? If any thing I should not be wearing it as it is risky for our line of work. Both conductive and loose jewelry. I should find a safer solution!
@@DrOHMz I'm in third year for school but only have been working on the field as a commercial electrician for two years. And i'm pretty bad about it too, I wear a silver necklace and gold ring that I never remember to remove.
Where are you from? How long does it take to become a Journeyman or Master?
sikh?? noticed the kara. Apprentice from local 353. bramptonn!
YEE! Master Electrician... Vancouver, BC!
@@DrOHMz Nice, make some more vids. Im a 2nd year apprentice. got lots to learn
What you want to see? I have videos made up but guy, no time to edit. Always busy working. I'll get something out within the week. Thanks for the motivation.
@@DrOHMz anything is helpful. i enjoy conduit work alot
No digital meter, no voltage tester, no circuit tester, no head light/flashlight, I can do without gloves but I do have a pair in my bag incase. Hmm must be in your other bag.
Where abouts in canada? Winnipeg Manitoba for me
Vancouver, British Columbia!
Are you a Journeyman?
@@DrOHMz No, I wish. I'm looking to get into the trade but it's a struggle.
It's one of the best trades to be in bro. What's stopping you?
@@DrOHMz the struggle that I am having is finding a company that is willing to apprentice me. I have been working in the hvac field for 3 years and the company wont apprentice me. Electrician was my first choice, I took it in high school and loved it. This city is tough to find apprenticeships.
@@DrOHMz Good. longevity is the name of the game, Take care of yourself always in the job. Be safe.
TAPE YOUR SHAFT FAM
I've seen screwdrivers pop from voltage, if your tool is not VDE safe, you risk electrocution
Round file
like the intro music :)
No meters
I can make a video about my testing equipment!
@@DrOHMz that'd be worth a watch
Too many tools!
Are you union
Both lol
Lots of “uhmm” LOL
A bit too zoomed-in there.
Are you Sikh brother?
YEE
Nice haha I noticed the kara 😁
That's it! Where you from?
Good video but your carrying to much weight.
Too much weight in one side brother
You use a tote bag or pouch?
I usually carry a tool bag with petty much everything you have in there and a bit more where i can fit my drill hacksaw ect and load out my bags depending on the task at hand, is a bit of a hassle to carry a bag around and depending who you work with you need to keep a third eye on your tools but I can see the difference once i have been climbing ladders for a few hours sometimes i just have 2 screwdrivers and some cutters while doing lamps
