- I am a second-year apprentice out of Colorado and these are the tools I carry with me to the job site every day. I just want this video to be too long so I didn’t go into a lot of detail on each tool, but I plan on making more videos highlighting a group of tools or individual ones in the future
Boulder bags - belt
Bother bags - suspenders
Boulder bags - ultimate electrician material pouch
Boulder bags - stainless steel tape measure holder
Veto pro pac - tp4
Klein tools - tradesman backpack
Husky - 18 inch rolling tool tote
Husky - 16 inch tool tote
Ive been doing this for almost a year and I've never seen anyone walk around with that many tools on
Yes you have. They are called carpenters.
Man have you met a journeyman😂
@Dans Tool Room fuck, ur so fucking funny
Commercial journeyman electrician here. One electrician i work with carries this msny tools around and we refer to him as the company mascot.
Better to have too much than not enough. Good load out..youve done pretty good for yourself in a short time. Lol some of the guys giving you shit for having too many tools are the very type on a job site wanting to borrow them constantly lol.
Dude told me one day - "I'd rather be lookin at it than lookin for it".
@@notsure7874 exactly right! I'd rather spend a few bucks on a new tool then spend lots of time hunting the one I have..somewhere. Time is money.
I don't think I've ever seen a 2nd year apprentice anywhere near this equipped. I know journeymen that aren't near this well kitted out. The only thing I don't see is a meter, which is pretty shocking! Its an old video, I'm sure you're no longer an apprentice, and probably have more than one meter, and judging by the rest of the kit they're probably top notch. Good show my man!
Those Klein J2000 - most people don't spend the extra few bucks and get the regular Kleins / dykes. I'm sure you know, but for other peoples benefit - J is the Journeyman style handle - 2000 is the better grade induction hardened steel for cutting tools. I have that exact pair of Kleins. Not particularly fond of the J handles, but they don't make the 2000's with the crimper and that kind of tape puller with the D handle. 2000 series is worth every bit extra IMHO. Whenever I wear these thick handles out, I'm gonna replace with the D style glow in the dark ones.
Bosch has an awesome set of multi-material (concrete, steel & wood) drill bits: it's basically just a sharpened carbide tip. That's a great little weight-saver as a fall-back.
The ones with the white paint yeah? Has held up better in concrete for me than standard masonry bits
Great load out my friend and well organised 👍
1. Electrical Hammer (Klein linesman pliers)
2. Screw chisel (Klein large standard screwdriver)
3. Romex staple remover (Klien diagonal pliers)
+1 for the extendable Klein: it takes standard 1/4" hex shaft bits, and I have a load of 6" and 8" long bits & nut drivers.
Put everything in that backpack and only take out the tools you need. Get a stick of 3/4 pvc coated rigid conduit and cut 2 48” pieces. Use those for the benders instead of those short Klein handles. Easier for bending upright.
Wow. That's a really good idea that I haven't seen yet. :)
The max pro’s are made by witte and are quite awesome but I always save my insulated drivers as best I can sweet setup man
I personally don't like belts, even though I do have them, a DeWalt smallish one for screws and rawlplugs. I'm really into Atlas46 gear especially the Journey MESH chest rig with cargo pockets.
That specific Wera rapidaptor bit holder isn’t actually impact rated. Not saying it’s going to explode if you put it in an impact, I’ve seen plenty other guys on YT use one in an impact, I just don’t know how long it’d last.
Great video, Subscribed, I hope you share an update video of your current setup
Holy crap, I’m starting an apprenticeship soon and was planning on buying like 10 tools at most...
@@RKrockin well I’ve probably got about 1.5k in tools right now and I’m about 5 months into the apprenticeship. Tools are expensive but well worth it
A LOT of the companies here in the southwest DO NOT provide benders, fish tapes, fish stick/rods, lockout/tagout kits, large box wrench sets ...
neither any consumables (drive bits, drill bits, etc), nor do they provide any of the bigger ticket tools (demo hammers, rotary hammers, etc) ...
you're pretty much left to having a COMPLETE rough-in/service setup in your possession or beg/borrow from your fellow electricians ...
I've also had to provide my own electrical tape on some commercial jobs ...
all for shitty ass wages ...
One acronym (five words): IBEW
Love you videos by the way
I use the awp suspenders from Lowe’s in mine there like 10 dollars vs 100 for the Boulder bag ones they work great
The only complaint I have about Boulder bag is the Velcro doesent stick very good
But I like em it’s a good belt compared to others
damn bro.... you got a full store of toys👍🏻⚡
If you work union you won’t have to buy powertools, hole saws, any speciality tool. Contractor will buy them for you. You just provide yourself a set of hand tools
And a bunch of splinters in your ass from sitting on the bench waiting for work.
thanks for sharing.......great....bob
Great tools reviews
You have to buy & bring your own benders!? They heavy and expensive!
What’s the point in having a few different multi screwdrivers?
Shortcircuit 1 i can’t really answer for him but I did this myself the first couple years, you don’t have your own truck to keep stuff in and you’re still trying to figure out what you really like and really don’t like and so you just keep stuff in your bag that you’re not quite sure if you want to leave at home or not yet
brandon garner facts
So you can spend hundreds for a torque driver.
Great vídeo thanks, try wiha electric tools the best quality 😍😍😍
Def. Wiha the only brand better than Wera for screwdrivers, impact bits etc
@Dans Tool Room hey Dan. I'm always open to advice. What do you recommend?
@Dans Tool Room v good choice lol. Since I sent the original text ive jumped ship to Weras myself. Their chisel drivers are unbelievable and their VDE range as good as wiha but cheaper
Why do you need to take the tape off of the T hook you can just grab a piece of when it is still on the T hook
Americans
TheAaron2442 thanks for reminding me! I don’t carry my backpack into the job site every day, because it’s just not needed. Instead I load up my belt with whatever I might need, and once inside I put the tools I’m not currently using into my drill bag until I do need to carry them with me
Matt Salerno hey men since you start working you ever got laid off? Im about to get in the trade but thats what make me think about it.
As soon as your contractor has no work....your gone!
Great video Matt. Is Klein the most popular manufacturer for electrical tools in the US?
Richard Newton Yes they are. One of the few made in the USA tool companies left.
@@TheJoc94 even not all Klein stuff is made in the USA anymore, a few tools like my MAG 11 in 1 is outsourced.
More and more Americans are shifting toward Knipex, Wiha and Wera.
@@wigit2216 if it helps, I tried the ideal USA made 12-in-1 and it's garbage. Came rusty, weak bits, loose pad on the handle, and the nut drivers don't fit well on screws. Went Klein after that
lol i started with a large bag and now i have a single pouch and still have too many tools. give me a 11 in 1, strippers, level and a set of knipex channels and Im good to go.
Steve Nunya yea no need for this many tools to have in your work belt while you’re working. Just too much
Lol sometimes all you need is your Klein’s , channellocks, and flathead screwdriver
Dang dude , you hit the field just like me , we have all of the same tools , like literally, very awesome video !
I just carry a knife, a flat head driver, and side cutters. 😅 I still get the job done. 😅
I’m in Colorado too! Where in Colorado?
For 18 months in I believe your covered for pretty much every job lol and honestly those tools have great quality and are backed by warranty so your set for life. I need an SDS hammer drill as well that’s next on the list as far as power tools. You could never have enough hand tools. I get a new tool(s) every month #addict
proper hammer drill will change your life. makes anchors go in with a breeze. to cheap to replace my different saws with cordless. sucks to bust out 100 ft of cord for one cut on a site though.
Those are combination pliers big linesmans
2:54 you know youre a carpenter if you carry around a hammer lol
Huh what about staples ?
@@ronnyeisenhower7793 Some guys use their Kleins. I use them in a pinch, if I've got to crawl up in an attic and there's not a lot to staple, no reason to drag a hammer up there. Don't hit them on the rivet though, unless you're ready to buy a new pair.
excellent tour bro. that belt looks too heavy long term. many get back or hip problems from it. quality tools, quality vid.
!wow! Amazing tools!
That's a ton of tools! Have you used them yet?
Lol
No Fluke multimeter?
Nice video👍👍...audio quality very low though.
Nice set up bro!
You should never carry your personal bits, drill, hole saws....wow, you are ready to go.
A sawzall too??
You can come work for me, I won’t have to supply any tools....do you have a ridgid 300...!???
Very impressive...your foreman must love you.
I keep seeing videos of electrician tool loadouts where they don't carry a meter around in their daily tools. This confuses me deeply as I always thought that a meter was one of the most essential tools you could have, aside from maybe a few screwdrivers and a pair of linemans. Can someone help me understand why carrying a meter around day to day isn't as necessary as I thought it was?
They are installers, no live circuits.
Even though they are installers someone screws a label up a meter makes tracing that circuit back easier
Good video
18months.... So your knipex snips are frozen and your "surprised" the pilers is still going????. Have you not heard of wd 40 no...????
Damn that's a lot of tools! Where's your triple nickel?
Hello matt im a journeman commercial / industrial electrician in maryland outta curriosity how much do commercial electricians make where u live .. I like seeing the price difference of difference states
Commercial is around 22-27 $/hr on avg.
Industrial is around 27-33 $/hr on avg.
And scale pay is 54 $/hr
If u could write back that would b awsome. It just peaks my curiosity
The lowest ive found was n Carolina where the commercial avg. Was only 18-20 a hr for a journeyman
Thanks!!!
Paul Mccardell resi and commercial journeymen are getting around 28-30 an hour and foremen are at about 30-33, but unfortunately my company doesn’t do any industrial so I can’t comment on that.
@@matts5086 nice higher end of the scale 4 u
I'm a data tech in Cali that works for a Electricial company c10 we have some guys at around 28 - 35 we do industrial manufacturing commercial and some residential the problem is it's expensive living in socal. I'd say that's main guys pay journeyman for sure. I run the low votage side of the company nice having 2 trades c7 and c10 under one company.
IBEW LOCAL 3 NYC $98 with benifits...commercial, industrial, residential, security, data, fire alarm, street lighting, high voltage (4160)
Fuck. I'm a journeyman in Canada and it's 38 an hour for commercial
None of your tools even look used bro. Also you seriously walk around with all them tools on your tool belt? That’s crazy. You don’t need all that on your hip at one time bro.
Support you Local UNION 520
why is that?
Jimmy ATX ALL DAY you know damn well everyone can’t just get into the union I no guys the spent yrs before they were given a chance if the halls were ran right residential would be more unionized
If you was able to afford all of this just in 18 months well you must get paid really well.. all of my tools are Greenlee
That's kinda what I was thinking lol, I was thinking about starting with a cheap general electric set :s.
GOOD video
You will start to impress me when you actually buy a gangbox and have it full of tools
I havent seen anyone else use the Connext1
Nice tool set up......but way too many! Your contractor should supply most of the tools
No Fluke 87V?.... nice tool store! 🤣
Instead of the ratcheting screwdriver use the skill one that is electric
