Those gatorback bags are nice i like how you can set your tools in the slots and pouches. I had own a pair, the only problem i had with them was the 2 outside pouches are too small i hard a hard time pulling wire nuts and screws out of them. They are nice but haven't gotten a pair cuz my hands are too big for the 2 oustside pouches
Like your tool collection .I do commercial electrical and have a lot of the same .one thing I would recommend ,I bought some racheting wrenchs at auto zone a few months back and they are awesome .have 4 sizes on each wrench
Cody Chapman I’ve seen those I have a husky set somewhere I typically use gearwrench as I find lots of the machines we work on have space issues where open ends come in handy but during new construction the quads can save lots of space in a took bag

I will say this I been doing electrical for 46 years and have done it all residential, commercial, industrial and currently have my own company and have been a master for about 16 years and have never out of work unless I wanted to be good luck to you this a great profession

here also most don't use belts but i love it especialy on the ladder. I love the pouches from tough build as it easy to clip them of an stand them beside you. Tools I use from Wera ore Knipex. The smal sets Wera are great
17:23 Sometimes we hang lights up with chains and a lot of factories don't allow sparks inside their buildings. Or it's too complicated to get the paperwork. So rather than walking outside each time we measure we use these small bolt cutters and makes the day easier.
@@Snowball636 Klein Tools Journey Mans Belt is really nice I started with that its Ballistic Nylon. But it comes in two sizes so you may have an issue with that, Gator belt comes in all different sizes and I like it a lot actually.

LOW VOLTAGE DUDE i definitely like the high side but we do a few things low voltage typical drops and things and its a nice change of pace and klein just feels right been trying a few different things though actually replaced most of my screwdrivers with snap on’s I got at a flea market but if I need any tool I know kleins always my safe bet and plan to put something up soon an update on my mc if nothing else march is madness for us our biggest client has had us changing out machines constantly swapped it up a bit more specialized for that if nothing else think I’ll do a video on my screwdriver addiction

Your going to do good I can already tell most guys don't know this much at your age.your potential is super high and you keep your tools organized most young guys just loose tools super impressed . I didn't see that you had a non contact tester, nor a small drill to do fast the work, good tools, but you have the same tools over and over you should just use the mulltitools so you don't to have carry to heavy tools bags.. great tools, Im impressed, blessings from mc allen tx.
I bought quite a few new tools for school, because I had "tool money" with tuition mostly, and many of my tools were "home owner quality" if you know what I mean. So I got some knipex stuff. I got about half of them with comfort grips and I regret that. I don't have small hands but still, I find them more difficult to wield/maneuver than the same tool with regular dipped style handles - lesson learned. I like the extra long knipex linesman pliars, they're slightly newer version than yours by the looks of it. I love the cobra pliars and I have the "pliars wrench" in three sizes - one of my favorite tools, hands down. For any trade or application. Check those out man, they are the absolute shit. They can straighten pieces of metal (sheet metal, wrangled solid copper wire), they don't mar surfaces/fasteners, they have incredible clamping force/pressure due to the design, they can be used one handed (not adjusted, but to turn a fastener for eg.), or you can just bend pennies in half if you want ;) Knipex dykes are awesome too, wish I'd got the longer ones.

MBarca_ getting in with IBEW should be a great way to start I’ve always worked independent and had really great experiences but know lots of guys who have done great in the union its still construction and definitely physically demanding but personally I love the diversity we’re one of the first trades on a new job and almost always working till a buildings handed over

PARKER Mize its hard to say man depends on what you’re looking for I got really lucky with the company I signed onto its a small family business and just had a need I’ve heard lots of good about the apprenticeship through Metro Power they are a huge company always hiring and have lots of big contracts that’d be the first I’d look into if nothing else getting on there will help you get commercial/industrial experience most of the good contractors are weary of hiring guys out of residential since the environment and scale of work is so different

I have the same tool belt. The pocket for tools are miniature, and the only way they fit now is after I forcibly tore the rivets off by trying to shove my lineman’s into them. The outside 3 pockets on the right side are a void for any screws, I can’t even get them out with my needle nose pliers.
Hey Tyler, Great video, I enjoyed it and hearing some of your input and recommendations. I'm gonna be starting at my first electrical job and it's with a place that does a little bit of everything - maybe not that industrial though. Anyway I was wondering if I could pick your brain a little bit? I've been dead set on getting a tool-backpack for the longest time up until now, I kinda still am. I currently use a cheap plastic (polyer) tool box from Canadian Tire for my electrical gear (and another for automotive) and I hate having 30+Lbs (?) of tools weighing down one side of my body, I find it so annoying. I've been looking at the (new) Klein one, the "tradesman pro tool master", though it is 13.2lbs empty and $240 CAD. The Milwaukee Jobsite Ultimate looks good too. Greenlee and Fluke also both make one now (as well as just about everyone else is jumpin on the wagon). But now I'm not sure what to use, haha. I find belts *can* be annoying but I've never used a quality one, and honestly I've never used one for very long (like on a job) either. I like the idea of a tool-vest as well, have you ever seen or tried any? It's nice to have pockets at chest height for pens/pencils, volt-tick, etc. What kind of tool belt is that? The padding looks substantial. Where do you keep your impact/drill and battery or do you not have carry one? It's been months since I graduated and I've forgotten 75% of what I learned, lol. everyone has there own opinion on tool back packs, i personally like them a lot especially if your hopping in and out of a truck everyday it keeps most of your specialty tools and other tools organized. i do use a tool belt for the convenience try investing some cash in a nice one i use the milwaukee electrician tool belt its very nice, light weight and sturdy. as for keeping your drills i keep my hammer drill in my back pack and impact on my belt. Im currently a industrial/commercial electrician but of course it can be for residential aswell.

Complex Hi sorry for the late reply never saw a notification. Tool Backpacks are great for some people its just preference in my work habits tool belts are more efficient. If you want a backpack I recommend ponying up the bucks for a Veto its a better built longer lasting bag with the best layout in my opinion. I usually carry power tools in a separate case and just bring what I need clipped to my belt all our power tools are provided though so take that with a grain of salt. Glad to hear your going into the field man hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The Klein K36 is not to tighten screws. It is for gripping and holding slotted screws and put them into a hole which is hard to reach, inside of an appliance for example. If you try to tighten screws with such screwdrivers you'll damage them. I've got the whole set with different sizes.
Netfitter I just set a zip tie where I could slide it on and off but I just found it annoying it’s a design flaw I usually use midwest and don’t have a problem but its a minor problem and easy fix for sure thanks for watching

I agree with u about the Klein' vrs knipex issue. 20 yr journeyman and I own both. Knipex are good but there are not forged by Jesus. They perform better with some tools and not with others. The margin of quality doesn't offset the cost in most cases however. If u notice in many comparison videos of knipex vrs the world, the narrator gets extremely vague when describing why they beat the compared tool in most cases especially Klein, saying thing like "They just feel better,I don't know:"😂. And ya i understand the "feel" of tools in the hand but that is an area were klein actually excells so if thats the excuse,well,,,,, Cobras are nice but don't leave those $50 pliers in the drop ceiling 🤣🤣🤣. Most complaints about Klein lineman are the break in issue. That's why they are way better? Diagonal cutters nope. Now admittedly some Klein tools are also comparable in price but they are also usually usa made so if the quality is the same then y not the usa made one? Yes i support usa made tools if there good. And channel lock is just being thrown under the bus by fad chasers. I admit the slip joint/Tongue and groove pliers design has become a bit obsolete compared to the new locking design but the strength, durability, and warranty of all channel lock products are unbeatable, and seems to get a bad wrap simply because they don't beat u up in price. Backwards thinking. In fact, aside from there tongue and groove pliers, all there other products are comparable to knipex and Klein. Again, I don't like cheap tools(cheap as in quality, not price),.. When u buy tools there is an element of practicality involved. Especially with hand tools. I want a good durable tool that does the job well and makes my job easier but one that won't make me cry if it disapears. Something that happens often with hand tools wether lost or stolen. So a middle ground needs to be met in MOST cases. Sometimes there are no options. I do refuse to fight with a low quality tool. To end my rant, knipex makes good tools. But so does Klein and channel lock, among many others. Don't get caught In a trend. Spend your money wisely (or not, after all it is your money, well until u give it to knipex🤣🤣🤣🤣)
Big O I like all three companies but usually I support usa manufacturing mostly just because I like the idea of using the same basic tools as my dad and my grandfather in the profession they helped guide me into one note though if you need 1000v protection knipex is often cheaper than the klein counterparts but tools are all personal preference as long as it works for you
Tyler English yes I saw that. Wiha has very reasonably priced insulated tools as well. A bit cheaper than knipex i believe, at the time i bought mine.I have a few of their insulated pliers and an entire set of insulated drivers from them. In fact, almost all my insulated tools are wiha. Excellent quality at an excellent price. I was shocked at how much cheaper they were than Klein insulated tools, being the quality was the same if not better in some cases, with a larger variety and there specialty seems to be in drivers (tips very strong) as knipex seems to be pliers I Highly recommend them
Big O definetly I love wiha drivers I’ve tried their pliers their very well made I tend to stay away from them as their not carried anywhere locally for me and plier production was moved to vietnam but they’re some of my favorite insulated drivers alongside klein and felo

Taylor Brink it depends what I’m working on I think its just personal preference coming from residential and commercial but they’re efficient depending on what you’re doing plus it helps distribute weight for going across the facility but there are definitely sometimes you cant wear one and lots of times I cant imagine not using one

Taylor Brink I usually am working on larger equipment in open spaces so I can wear one but there are some confined areas for sure we do a lot of work for a zipper manufacturer so everything from brass melting pots to large dye and platting machines dryers schlitters we do work for air force bases lots of variety Wearing a belts definitely uncommon though only 1 other guy brings one and I’m the only one who actually wears one when I can I did schools and hospitals a ton before I moved to this company and cant imagine doing new construction without a belt but a majority of people I’ve worked with are pocket guys
Nice tools bro! That’s a really good start. Actually most journeyman I work with don’t have that nice of a set up. I agree with you on the Southwire tools being junk!!! Stick to Klein and Milwaukee. Stay away from the overpriced Knipex crap though. Klein stuff is just as nice and dependable!
Brad Buchanan I tried to get everything I’d borrow 3 times plus I got started before I had too many bills so it was easier go ahead and get as much together as I could. Some southwires okay in a pinch but I’m not a fan not too big on milwaukee hand tools either though. I’m a Klein fan first and foremost but I like some german and industrial companies like snap-on and proto. Knipex is a bit over rated to me but the pliers wrench is definitely an improvement over any other adjustable I’ve used.
Tyler English I’ve used Channel Lock brand pliers for over 20 years and have borrowed other tool buddies Knipex before and they just don’t feel right in my hand. As far as Southwire I wouldn’t waste my money again. As far as Milwaukee goes I’ve only switched on screwdrivers but not a huge fan. I’m like you though I love the grips on Klein but as far as the tips go it’s getting hard to justify paying paying 4 times as much.

Cory Tucker the small zippered bag is a veto pro pack but I think you’re asking about the gatorback bags and belt rack-a-tiers sells the same setup its a great layout and a really comfortable belt I highly recommend it if you choose to go nylon over leather

I've seen that Klein makes some screwdrivers. I think they make them especially for the european market because instead of Phillips they have two Pozidriv screwdrivers (PZ 1 and PZ 2) in the set. The except the smallest slotted one all are slim line. My english is a bit rusty since I haven't used it for a long period of time. English is the first foreign language you're supposed to learn in school here from class 5 on till the end. And this is fixed to english. The second language can be chosen at class 7, and you can chose between french, spanish, latin or russian. I've chosen french, but it's all gone now. Ok, I'm out of school for almost 20 years now and I've never spoken french until then. My screwdrivers are Wera, mostly "used look", especially the large slotted is a bit beaten up. Other ones like the Pozidriv and Phillips are looking like they're brand new. Ok, Phillips is pretty uncommon here. We use Pozidriv in most cases. Pliers are mostly Knipex, which are quite cheap here. One of the insulated pliers had an "accident" with 400VAC, but it only ruined a part of the chrome finish and left a copper mark. The 63A NH-fuse was blown. I almost fell off the ladder, but the room was so small that nothing happened, I was caught by the wall. And that's the reason why we're using insulated tools everytime, even if the circuit is proved as dead. There could always be an idiot switching it back on because he want to make some coffee or such crap. I'm using a lock, but the locks here don't fit on any circuit breaker. This is depending on the manufacturer and the age of the breaker. So you need different types of locks. And sometimes you'll find electric installations without breakers, they still use fuses so you need a plug instead to prevent someone putting the fuse back in. A video would be too long. I've got a lot of tools. Tool addict would be a fitting statement. In addition I've got some screwdrivers made by PB Swiss (insulated), Wiss, Klein, Channellock and a screwdriver labeled as "Vaco" (Vaco is now part of Klein). Klein, Vaco and Channellock were hard to get...but I've seen they're now available here and remembered your video and your problem with the terminals.
A co-worker spilled a chemical on my hands that weakened my nails and they got basically scraped off by a piece of sheetmetal according to the on site first aid person but not exactly sure it was not pleasant sorry you had to see that they said it’ll take a long time to grow back and might have to have them professionally removed to restart growth better

Large Pizza something did a while back when something got in an enclose that shouldnt have been the problem now is when they grow back they are very brittle and break off I wear gloves in any of the areas where corrosives are used

The autozone ones are best for strut straps.

I didn't see that you had a non contact tester, nor a small drill to do fast the work, good tools, but you have the same tools over and over you should just use the mulltitools so you don't to have carry to heavy tools bags.. great tools, Im impressed, blessings from mc allen tx.

I bought quite a few new tools for school, because I had "tool money" with tuition mostly, and many of my tools were "home owner quality" if you know what I mean. So I got some knipex stuff. I got about half of them with comfort grips and I regret that. I don't have small hands but still, I find them more difficult to wield/maneuver than the same tool with regular dipped style handles - lesson learned.
I like the extra long knipex linesman pliars, they're slightly newer version than yours by the looks of it. I love the cobra pliars and I have the "pliars wrench" in three sizes - one of my favorite tools, hands down. For any trade or application. Check those out man, they are the absolute shit. They can straighten pieces of metal (sheet metal, wrangled solid copper wire), they don't mar surfaces/fasteners, they have incredible clamping force/pressure due to the design, they can be used one handed (not adjusted, but to turn a fastener for eg.), or you can just bend pennies in half if you want ;)
Knipex dykes are awesome too, wish I'd got the longer ones.

I’ve heard lots of good about the apprenticeship through Metro Power they are a huge company always hiring and have lots of big contracts that’d be the first I’d look into if nothing else getting on there will help you get commercial/industrial experience most of the good contractors are weary of hiring guys out of residential since the environment and scale of work is so different

I have the same tool belt. The pocket for tools are miniature, and the only way they fit now is after I forcibly tore the rivets off by trying to shove my lineman’s into them. The outside 3 pockets on the right side are a void for any screws, I can’t even get them out with my needle nose pliers.

Great video, I enjoyed it and hearing some of your input and recommendations. I'm gonna be starting at my first electrical job and it's with a place that does a little bit of everything - maybe not that industrial though. Anyway I was wondering if I could pick your brain a little bit?
I've been dead set on getting a tool-backpack for the longest time up until now, I kinda still am. I currently use a cheap plastic (polyer) tool box from Canadian Tire for my electrical gear (and another for automotive) and I hate having 30+Lbs (?) of tools weighing down one side of my body, I find it so annoying.
I've been looking at the (new) Klein one, the "tradesman pro tool master", though it is 13.2lbs empty and $240 CAD. The Milwaukee Jobsite Ultimate looks good too. Greenlee and Fluke also both make one now (as well as just about everyone else is jumpin on the wagon). But now I'm not sure what to use, haha.
I find belts *can* be annoying but I've never used a quality one, and honestly I've never used one for very long (like on a job) either. I like the idea of a tool-vest as well, have you ever seen or tried any? It's nice to have pockets at chest height for pens/pencils, volt-tick, etc. What kind of tool belt is that? The padding looks substantial.
Where do you keep your impact/drill and battery or do you not have carry one?
It's been months since I graduated and I've forgotten 75% of what I learned, lol. This should be fun :)

everyone has there own opinion on tool back packs, i personally like them a lot especially if your hopping in and out of a truck everyday it keeps most of your specialty tools and other tools organized. i do use a tool belt for the convenience try investing some cash in a nice one i use the milwaukee electrician tool belt its very nice, light weight and sturdy. as for keeping your drills i keep my hammer drill in my back pack and impact on my belt.
Im currently a industrial/commercial electrician but of course it can be for residential aswell.

Complex Hi sorry for the late reply never saw a notification. Tool Backpacks are great for some people its just preference in my work habits tool belts are more efficient. If you want a backpack I recommend ponying up the bucks for a Veto its a better built longer lasting bag with the best layout in my opinion. I usually carry power tools in a separate case and just bring what I need clipped to my belt all our power tools are provided though so take that with a grain of salt. Glad to hear your going into the field man hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Complex oh and the belt I used in the video is a gatorback however I switched to an occidental leather as it suits me better.
The vde screwdrivers also have slim fit, so the insulation is the same size (csa) as a regular screwdriver, weha do a good offer at s.f, oyeah big clive is a British guy aka brit,

The Klein K36 is not to tighten screws. It is for gripping and holding slotted screws and put them into a hole which is hard to reach, inside of an appliance for example. If you try to tighten screws with such screwdrivers you'll damage them. I've got the whole set with different sizes.

Netfitter I just set a zip tie where I could slide it on and off but I just found it annoying it’s a design flaw I usually use midwest and don’t have a problem but its a minor problem and easy fix for sure thanks for watching

I agree with u about the Klein' vrs knipex issue. 20 yr journeyman and I own both. Knipex are good but there are not forged by Jesus. They perform better with some tools and not with others. The margin of quality doesn't offset the cost in most cases however. If u notice in many comparison videos of knipex vrs the world, the narrator gets extremely vague when describing why they beat the compared tool in most cases especially Klein, saying thing like "They just feel better,I don't know:"😂. And ya i understand the "feel" of tools in the hand but that is an area were klein actually excells so if thats the excuse,well,,,,, Cobras are nice but don't leave those $50 pliers in the drop ceiling 🤣🤣🤣. Most complaints about Klein lineman are the break in issue. That's why they are way better? Diagonal cutters nope. Now admittedly some Klein tools are also comparable in price but they are also usually usa made so if the quality is the same then y not the usa made one? Yes i support usa made tools if there good. And channel lock is just being thrown under the bus by fad chasers. I admit the slip joint/Tongue and groove pliers design has become a bit obsolete compared to the new locking design but the strength, durability, and warranty of all channel lock products are unbeatable, and seems to get a bad wrap simply because they don't beat u up in price. Backwards thinking. In fact, aside from there tongue and groove pliers, all there other products are comparable to knipex and Klein. Again, I don't like cheap tools(cheap as in quality, not price),.. When u buy tools there is an element of practicality involved. Especially with hand tools. I want a good durable tool that does the job well and makes my job easier but one that won't make me cry if it disapears. Something that happens often with hand tools wether lost or stolen. So a middle ground needs to be met in MOST cases. Sometimes there are no options. I do refuse to fight with a low quality tool. To end my rant, knipex makes good tools. But so does Klein and channel lock, among many others. Don't get caught In a trend. Spend your money wisely (or not, after all it is your money, well until u give it to knipex🤣🤣🤣🤣)
Big O I like all three companies but usually I support usa manufacturing mostly just because I like the idea of using the same basic tools as my dad and my grandfather in the profession they helped guide me into one note though if you need 1000v protection knipex is often cheaper than the klein counterparts but tools are all personal preference as long as it works for you
Tyler English yes I saw that. Wiha has very reasonably priced insulated tools as well. A bit cheaper than knipex i believe, at the time i bought mine.I have a few of their insulated pliers and an entire set of insulated drivers from them. In fact, almost all my insulated tools are wiha. Excellent quality at an excellent price. I was shocked at how much cheaper they were than Klein insulated tools, being the quality was the same if not better in some cases, with a larger variety and there specialty seems to be in drivers (tips very strong) as knipex seems to be pliers I Highly recommend them

Taylor Brink I usually am working on larger equipment in open spaces so I can wear one but there are some confined areas for sure we do a lot of work for a zipper manufacturer so everything from brass melting pots to large dye and platting machines dryers schlitters we do work for air force bases lots of variety

Nice tools bro! That’s a really good start. Actually most journeyman I work with don’t have that nice of a set up. I agree with you on the Southwire tools being junk!!! Stick to Klein and Milwaukee. Stay away from the overpriced Knipex crap though. Klein stuff is just as nice and dependable!
Brad Buchanan I tried to get everything I’d borrow 3 times plus I got started before I had too many bills so it was easier go ahead and get as much together as I could. Some southwires okay in a pinch but I’m not a fan not too big on milwaukee hand tools either though. I’m a Klein fan first and foremost but I like some german and industrial companies like snap-on and proto. Knipex is a bit over rated to me but the pliers wrench is definitely an improvement over any other adjustable I’ve used.
Tyler English I’ve used Channel Lock brand pliers for over 20 years and have borrowed other tool buddies Knipex before and they just don’t feel right in my hand. As far as Southwire I wouldn’t waste my money again. As far as Milwaukee goes I’ve only switched on screwdrivers but not a huge fan. I’m like you though I love the grips on Klein but as far as the tips go it’s getting hard to justify paying paying 4 times as much.

I've seen that Klein makes some screwdrivers. I think they make them especially for the european market because instead of Phillips they have two Pozidriv screwdrivers (PZ 1 and PZ 2) in the set. The except the smallest slotted one all are slim line. I've switched the language over to english:

For slim VDE screwdrivers the price is reasonable. The standard VDE screwdrivers cost much less. For a set made by Wiha or Wera you'll pay round about 25€.

My english is a bit rusty since I haven't used it for a long period of time. English is the first foreign language you're supposed to learn in school here from class 5 on till the end. And this is fixed to english. The second language can be chosen at class 7, and you can chose between french, spanish, latin or russian. I've chosen french, but it's all gone now. Ok, I'm out of school for almost 20 years now and I've never spoken french until then.
My screwdrivers are Wera, mostly "used look", especially the large slotted is a bit beaten up. Other ones like the Pozidriv and Phillips are looking like they're brand new. Ok, Phillips is pretty uncommon here. We use Pozidriv in most cases.
Pliers are mostly Knipex, which are quite cheap here. One of the insulated pliers had an "accident" with 400VAC, but it only ruined a part of the chrome finish and left a copper mark. The 63A NH-fuse was blown. I almost fell off the ladder, but the room was so small that nothing happened, I was caught by the wall.
And that's the reason why we're using insulated tools everytime, even if the circuit is proved as dead. There could always be an idiot switching it back on because he want to make some coffee or such crap. I'm using a lock, but the locks here don't fit on any circuit breaker. This is depending on the manufacturer and the age of the breaker. So you need different types of locks. And sometimes you'll find electric installations without breakers, they still use fuses so you need a plug instead to prevent someone putting the fuse back in.
A video would be too long. I've got a lot of tools. Tool addict would be a fitting statement. In addition I've got some screwdrivers made by PB Swiss (insulated), Wiss, Klein, Channellock and a screwdriver labeled as "Vaco" (Vaco is now part of Klein). Klein, Vaco and Channellock were hard to get...but I've seen they're now available here and remembered your video and your problem with the terminals.

A co-worker spilled a chemical on my hands that weakened my nails and they got basically scraped off by a piece of sheetmetal according to the on site first aid person but not exactly sure it was not pleasant sorry you had to see that they said it’ll take a long time to grow back and might have to have them professionally removed to restart growth better
