Don Bluth is honestly superior to Disney, he wasn’t afraid to show the darkest side in a movie, in a era where parents would go berserk and accuse animations of being responsibles if their kids misbehaved, instead of raising them..
The animations here are really amazing.
Edit: there were some censorships like the body of Charlie not being here during the car scene, and the tommy-gun being renamed "ray-gun" with sci-fi effects..
Outside of those... interesting choices done by others, his movies showed that just because it’s animated, didn’t meant it’s for kids.
And movies like this actually teach important moral life lessons unlike what you have today where people only release movies to kids for the cash grab, not to teach them anything important

Yeah and apparently they had to cut and censor some stuff just to keep it G rated. The first was the awkward jump cut to Charlie getting hit by the car in this video, the other was turning the Tommy gun carface uses later in the movie into a “ray” gun, and I believe some parts of the dream sequence where Charlie was in hell was cut out to.

Annabelle is right, dogs are naturally good and loyal creatures. Some are police dogs, service dogs, guard dogs, family dogs. And I’ve always wondered why they changed the voice actor for Annabelle back then for the sequel, the series and the Christmas one, she was very good but wherever she is now I pray that she’s okay. Trivia of the Day:
Originally, in pre-production storyboards (where an animated film is carefully planned out scene-to-scene, shot-to-shot, character line-to-line in order to minimize the expenses of animating lines, shots, or scenes that might get cut later on) Charlie's death was going to be a lot more direct and graphic, with him visibly getting hit by the car as it goes off the pier.
You notice in the finished film that you don't even see Charlie anywhere when the car goes in the drink. Don Bluth and his team realized that it would likely push the film firmly into the PG rating to show a dog getting run over and tossed lifeless into a river.
That's why there is a sudden cut between the close up of the car slowly beginning to accelerate down the hill to the pier and it crashing through the railing at the end.
I had the VHS where his body does go through the air I'm watching it now with the wife and I had said this to her now I'm investigating
@@aaronfrischkorn2997
I kinda prefer the aftermath I think actually seeing his body getting hit is too extreme.

You know every time i watch this scene it always makes me wonder if this is what crossing over is really like. I mean how exactly does our soul leave the body and go on?
Unfortunately there's no evidence to show anything will happen, it probably is just lights out forever BUT we've come into existence once so maybe it's possible again 🌌
@@MOONCAT666 well of course there's no evidence. There is no way to study the supernatural. There may be no evidence to make public knowledge, but some people have experienced evidence privately. But those experiences won't convince the non believers because they will just think they are crazy or that its just coincedence.
@@jduttskywalker I think there are many people who've had genuine NDEs but whether it's an actual supernatural event or something amazing going on in the brain who knows. Anything is possible but I have a feeling we just end up wormfood so it's important to make the best of this life as there may be no respawn at the end of the game. 😺
From my religion, I’m a Christian. Us Christians believe in God and a lot of other religions do too- in a sense- When you die there is a Heaven and a Hell. Kinda like in this movie. Hell is a horrid place to stay in and you can’t come back out of it, then you’ll eventually die once more, after that I’m not 💯 percent sure what happens because I need to study the Bible more, but with school it’s hard. Since they "know everything" she probably knew all along he would pull this trick, played along a little, tried to stop him..
Even freely told him he'd be sent back if he did that.. Maybe, in order to avoid spoilers for the audience, some pages were left out.
As was his whole past (that's "everything that was") except parents.. she probably saw his future (all that "will be") and thus basically
guided him into doing this stunt.
Just a theory.
Maybe it´s like they know all about the past but can also see into the future but considering that each action you take or not take creates countless possible ways she knew that there is a possibilty for him to pull that trick but didn´t believe that he would be "stupid" enough to try it.
This whole scene hits different as an adult. Needing excitement and adventure vs contentment and peace (also idk if you can bone in heaven but Annabelle seemed down to clown)
