  • Islands have always played critical roles for great powers jostling for influence on the world stage. Small island nations in the Indo-Pacific are no different. Today, China, the United States, and other regional powers have jockeyed for favor from these island states in the Indian Ocean region. Yet often lost in the shuffle of great power politics are the interests of the island nations themselves.

    While the animation is top notch, the voice talent is where this video really shines. I presume the CEfIP chose to invest in a professional actress for this piece, and clearly that investment was worthwhile. I hope this continues in the future!

    I think it important to remember that the origins of Polynesians have identified as originally Taiwan First People. It would be surprising if among Polynesians this genealogy did not give a sense of solidarity with their long lost cousins.
