    Greatsword - a weapon that has no alternatives in pve, it demolishes everything in its path. But you have to add variety to your arsenal so as not to get bored.

      yeah, im currently using a greatsword, dragon chime, sunset staff, sanctuary crossbow and bow of want build. i just one shot everything with the greatsword and the dark orbs but its fun to run around one shoting everything with the crossbow and casting spears with the bow

      Aren't greathammers a good alternative in pve? Since a large amount of enemies are armoured knights the strike damage is very effective.

    On the smelter demon swords, you can use either soul to get either weapon, but for it to be unlocked you would have to have defeated that smelter demon in that new game cycle. So if you want the aged smelter demon swords, make sure you get it before you go to new game plus

    It’s definitely worth mentioning that the King’s UGS does Strike type damage. My favorite type, and probably the best overall. It has a ridiculously high durability, so you can always count on it get you to, and through, a boss. It does 3x the normal durability damage, so in longer PvP fights, you’ll break rings with it. It’s moveset is decent enough. It’s only real drawback, aside from being among the heaviest weapons, it’s that the 2-hand rolling attack consumes double the stamina you would expect. For some reason, it uses up around 2/3 of the bar. It’s model is one of the best looking UGS, if not if any weapon. On my list, it’s top 3, due in no small part to being the only Sword that does strike damage.

    I’ve been using the regular Ultra great sword since early on. I love it. S scaling, great move set, can buff it. If you’re a strength build you can’t go wrong. Your scaling will probably be higher than the base damage 😆 love it!

    As someone who has only beaten the game with the greatsword, it is the actual best weapon in the game. There are two things I want to add that carried me through the game though since no one seems to mention them;
    1. Jump attack. This attack sends the player flying when locked on, and since it has one of the highest ranges, it's hard to miss even from far distance.
    2. One handed rolling attack. It is actually unfair how hard the rolling attack tracks. You can roll AWAY from the enemy, tap r1 and your character will end up closer to the enemy then they were before they rolled and manage to still get a hit

  • @christophercollins3632

    The Lost Sinners Sword is one of my favorites. For how little it weighs, it hits like a truck. For being an UGS, it consumes less stamina than most greatswords. The stats reqs are easy to manage. Good counter strength. The bad scaling is more than made up for having very high base damage, and is one of the few weapons where Raw infusion really shines. Once infused, it’s a powerhouse, even for mages who get the bare minimum to 2-hand it. And the sword has a hidden bonus against sinners, so crush hosts as a Blue Sentinel with it. But what price, all this power, unburdened by high weight or stamina costs? A little bit of your hp with every hit. Chip damage. Oh, and if you are a sinner too, you lose scaling. But since it’s scaling was garbage, and you were smart and Raw infused, you’ll lose only 1-2% damage. Also not great is the 1-hand moveset is hard to use, except for it having one of the best rolling attacks. The 2-hand heavy knocks enemies on their backs, which rocks. It blocks as well as most shields. And when you look at what weapon can do the most amount of damage in the least amount of time, called burst damage, it is in the top 3. The 2-hand rolling into a light combo is exactly alike the other top 3 burst damage weapons, but the Lost Sinners Sword does it at about half the weight, half the stamina cost, and half the requirements. The perfect weapon for the new player, since the chip damage will teach them to be very careful during combat, and aware of their surroundings. One swing through a big pile of boxes, and there goes 10% of their hp. But you won’t mind, because it’s the best looking sword in the game.

    • @WOMFT
      @WOMFT Před 2 lety +2

      Wasnt the sword actually bugged; the ar only reduces in the stat menu but doesnt actually reduce when damaging an enemy when being a sinner? Seeing as how red invasion will inc sin count i think its still a pretty good weapon with the special feature of it not working

    • @christophercollins3632
      @christophercollins3632 Před 2 lety +2

      If you have no sin, scaling is in blue, and is additive. Gain enough sin, and it goes red, with a negative scaling equal to the base damage. Which looks like it should do zero damage. But at most it only goes down to doing the weapon’s base damage. I have no idea why.

    1:10 Here when the heide knight was staggered, you can actually initiate a riposte. This is most reliably done with a weapon that has 50+ poise damage, which the ivory ugs does not since its just 45. Many enemies can be 1 shot like this. This trick is incredibly useful in PVE if you don't parry and use a UGS. Seems almost exclusive to UGS.
    1:10 And old knight sword has 60+ poise damage. And that is actually good to have in shulva where enemies have a lotta poise and to deal with the havel in the gank squad boss.
    3:30 Around here you mention the fume ugs has block capability. You forgot to mention that the stability is 62, meaning it has greatshield stability, meaning even some boss attacks can recoil, like pusuer, ruin sentinals, etc. So this fume ugs is like having a damaging UGS + decent greatshield combined into 1, which is actually very useful for pve. The 60 poise damage is also useful for dealing with gank squad and shulva. And due to the block ability, the fume is the best for dealing with NPC invaders.
    9:33 The king's UGS is actually top tier in damage since it deals strike damage. It has the highest poise damage at 65, which means you WILL stagger the opponent. No need for the stone ring with this one. Also has very high stability, though not greatshield levels.
    13:46 The blade still does UGS levels of stagger, so even if you don't hit the enemy for much you will stagger them. You should mention it has just 45 poise damage, lowest in the UGS. So it will not stagger as much sometimes and crucially not stagger then lead into riposte on certain enemies.
    Good video mate and mostly fair points on all UGS. I agree, ds2 ugs are ultra competitive. I'd add that you should mention that UGS with 1H vertical attack can nicely go into running + 1H heavy attack. You can also mention UGS swing faster after running/rolling/guard break. For zewihander moveset ugs, that means the 2h poke can come out extremely fast. For pursuer ugs moveset that means the 2h vertical chops can come out insanely fast. Useful in pve. And trust me, I've managed to hit a ruin sentinal 4 times in a row with the ivory ugs just due to this property.

    Ole reliable as I put it. Try and use other weapons and I just find myself going back to this slab of rock. Only downside to it is the tracking. Enemies that do a simple walk to the side will trivialize the 2 handed R1 attack, but other than that it is near perfect.

    Greatsword is terrible for newer players, because it is so dominating. The habits and tendencies it teaches them don’t translate to other weapons. It’s easy to use, because it is longer than anything a mob has. So they learn to swing first. And that aggression is rewarded, because the damage is so high, they’ll kill whatever it was with the first attacks. So the new player never learns the good habits it takes to survive using anything else. Like baiting out attacks, then punishing. Counters with Rolling or Backstep attacks. Patience and positioning. I’ve seen it on Twitch happen many times. A struggling player has the Greatsword recommended, uses it, and they almost immediately turn things around. The game becomes less difficult. And when they try new weapons they find, they return to being a struggling player having a hard time. Greatsword is basically easymode. That being said, having fun is most important, so if it helps someone enjoy themselves, that’s all that matters. By all means, use it. But if someone wants to get good at the game, throw it into the sea. While you’re at it, chuck the rapiers in, along with it, for pretty much the same reasons.

    • @tinchoide
      @tinchoide Před 2 lety +3

      a good weapon for new players is the mace, it has good dmg so they dont struggle that much and has short range so they will learn how to dodge properly and also know when to attack since it isnt that fast of a weapon

    • @christophercollins3632
      @christophercollins3632 Před 2 lety +1

      @@tinchoide Agreed. Mace is very strong. A newer player must figure out that sometimes the first light attack hits them hard enough to push them out of range for the second swing. In which case the heavy should be used second. But that takes experience to have a feel for that, so they can swing right away, and not whiff.
