One thing more about Yorgh spear: it reduces by 70 points magic/dark/lightning/fire defense while increasing petrify/bleed/curse by 70 and poison resist by 200. But yeah it is a beast of weapon fitting that you get it from a dragon soul.
spears are very stronk in this game you can poke and do quick damage roll quickly after attacking oh and powerstancing with leo ring is just epic Achilles approves
I like Pate's Spear and the winged spear about equally for a spear character. Both can be acquired very early and as you mentioned, a +7 winged spear is in one DLC. Either will take you through the whole game with upgrades.
Should have tested the Pilgrims Spontoon with both magic and dark infusion, as well as crystal magic weapon or resonant weapon and leo ring to actually use its advantages compared to a staff. Though as far as I know the damage of spells/hexes is still not so good, even when better than in the video.
You lose about 9 damage by Lightning infusing a Heide Spear and gain 44 Lightning damage so it is definitely worth it to infuse it. I don't know what on earth you were talking about man.

Dark souls 2 spears are amazing, especially the Partizan. The sweeps have so much range and the thrusts hit ridiculously high counters.
Sweeps are also strike dmg so great for pve

The good thing about the standard spear is that it's also doing blunt damage with its strong attack, making it just an overall anti armor weapon.

I've always been very partial to the gargoyle bident, it feels so much faster than it is and pumps out serious damage.

the spotoon is not bad really, try buffing it with dark weapon and it does pretty good dmg on a dark magic build
Fromsoft should add more spears with unique move sets like santier's and yohrgs in elden ring
