@@billjohnsonseattle Hey there! The FAA has talked about remote ID modules being a necessary addition to your drone for some time now, and has continued to push it off, for whatever reason. Nonetheless, we will have individual modules available to install on drones when regulation is enforced. When it's enforced, all our new drones will have it as well. Any drone sold today that doesn't have it, we'll have a kit & instructions on how to install them. Enforcement of this won't be until at least late 2023, we think probably later, but we'll 100% be on top of it for new drones & drones sold without it. We'll email everyone with the new rules & how to comply once it takes affect. Let us know if you have any other questions, we are always here! 🦅

I just bought the Blackhawk Pro 2 and am a bit overwhelmed. I'm new to the world of drones, but want to use them for exploring. I am a rockhound and relic hunter and thought this would come in handy for pre-trip exploring before heading in on foot! I know I need to FAA register, what a pain! Right now recreational pilot and will move into supplying video for my rockhounding and exploring adventures. Advice is welcome and sought! Thanks in advance! Your drone review was excellent and I'm getting excited to fly the friendly skies.

I had an exo ranger 7. It was what I considered my first " good" drone. Unfortunately I flew it one time too many without GPS and.......

Nice review Steve. I think its a pretty good drone myself. It is feature rich, has a great camera, transmission is up to par (better than the Hubsan versions) and can stand up in really well in high winds... The price is significantly higher than expected for many but in today’s market prices have been increasing for everything. Yes, its a “Hubsan made” drone for EXO with some slight differences to it like the inner hardware, transmission frequency, firmware upgrades and software-even though you might not notice the differences, they’re there. I think it’s nice to see this collaboration between Hubsan + EXO in the USA. Good for them. 👏🏻
Oh, and by the way, the Santana song is called: “Oye Como Va” and I definitely agree that the start up chime sounds just like it. 😂
(edited) Also, they just release a new firmware upgrade where it now self-calibrates the Obstacle Avoidance sensors, so no need to calibrate them online.

Hey Steve, I am kicking myself, I bought the Hudson Mini SE Revision model to play with. I should have subscribed sooner to see your review on the EXO. To be honest, I am not a fan of the DJI, although everyone brags they are the best in the market. However, bang for your bucks, I think there are alternatives out there that can do the same for people with a budget like me. Really appreciate your reviews, they are the best, keep them coming Mate.

It's nice that they still advertise it as Omni directional obstacle avoidance and it's not. They tried to blame their marketing department for the false advertising but yet still won't change their adds. Not cool . Many people bought it for that reason and get a drone that isn't as advertised. Great Company

Omnidirectional refers to the notion of existing in every direction
When they clearly both state NO side to side avoidance. To the point that you sometimes have to disable to fly because the drone has zero clue what to do. But DJI has it (as I said you need to turn it off) Is no sideways flight with obstacle flying on.
@Travel Explorer Omni directional is obstacle avoidance in front,back, bottom,and sides. By the companies own admission. "It is tri directional obstacle avoidance front,rear and bottom. That was a mistake by marketing. I'm not the only one that got this response from them. So they are knowingly selling it with a wrong description and as of the email I received last week still advertising as Omni. So yes false advertising.

These guys are onto something but I’ve seen them personally try to make it there mission to go after Dji why would you use that as a marketing scheme when your new in the industry just keep it about you an your company! But i hope these guys succeed!
Steve I always enjoy your reviews. I looked on Amazon and it looks like $849 on Amazon. If it was $449 I might consider it, for about the same price I can buy the DJI mini 3 pro, which I think is a much better drone. Also, the mini 3 pro doesn't have to be registered, sub 249 g. The Exo is an american-made drone, that goes a long way for me, but I just can't justify that price, as the features, and the night video aren't that great. It appeared to fly well, it seemed to be stable, the video appeared very clear to me, but it's price point is just too high.

EXO does a great job on there marketing I just ordered the X7 Ranger plus they seems to always have good deals all the time

Truthful about flight distance and battery life?
Not so much, they need to work on that. I have the ranger and will upgrade to the Blackhawk once i see proof it will go even half the distance they claim it goes. :-)

Enjoyed this review. I do have doubts this drone can handle level 8 winds ( Gale Force) 39-42mph. This is very impressive if true as it is difficult to walk at those wind speed let alone fly a drone.Thanks for sharing and look forward to more content from your channel on EXO drones.
On Exo site it says Level 8 (36 mph) wind resistance, then says top speed 35mph, lol! The 1/1.3 camera is same as Mini 3 Pro, but outspec'ed since M3P does 4K60 with 10 bit D-Cinelike and Dual native ISO. That's the "pro" version @$949 with 2 batteries. The regular Blackhawk 2 only has a 1/2.6 sensor that won't shoot over 30fps at ANY resolution (even 1080p) - it's a joke, and not a very good one, paying a grand for a Hubsan. I guarantee that the "production" version WILL have numerous FW issues, but may be all fixed up, in about a year.
@@BlairAir I agree, Exo is starting to catch DJI but still has a long was to go. Customer service is more important and primarily the reason I have not decided to buy one at this point, I am searching for a company that has a good quality Drone with a decent camera and great customer service that has the parts and tech support. @@_mr_andersson This drone can fly at much greater speeds around +70 mph ( If you dropped it off a side of a cliff in 39-42 mph winds) However the landing at the bottom of the cliff may not be the desired effect for a +$800 Drone. I am not saying this is a bad drone by no means. Remove the +8 level wind resistance from the Ad which by the way not many would even attempt to fly in. I do believe it could hover at a 30Mph wind however it would be dicey if the wind was not a sustained wind. If EXO Drones would back up there claims with video proof showing a annomonitor reading out the 30mph wind with the drone flying in it it would make me feel better to spend the 1k+ for a 3 battery system. I would like to test this drone for myself and spend more than 26 minutes on video doing it. I have flown the DJI mini in a 25mph wind and it handled it so 30mph is not unbelievable given the 3600 mah 3s battery system and larger blades. Level 5 is the most common wind resistance for drones. It means that you can fly your drone at wind speeds up to 10.7 m/s (24 mph) safely. Flying in winds above this will result in unpredictable drone movements and a greater risk of accidents.
Don't forget the free part 107 course included with the EXO drone.
That being said night time the Air 2S beats it.
The EXO feels like a tank.
For some US service and support is a big deal. They also have insurance like DJI refresh.
In a lot of ways the EXO is a great drone.
In other ways the Air 2S is a fantastic drone.
I have also heard the ND filters are coming out for the EXO.
I guess it comes down to what drone is best for you.

I still wouldn't buy it anyway? It's nothing like a great reliable DJI drone? The price is great, but definitely not as reliable as it should be.
One thing I like that DJI drones don't have it's that landing spot target? I like that even though it doesn't really work as good, but I think it's awesome.

Great review of the Blackhawk Pro 2. I especially like how obstacle avoidance works. It seems to operate great in Sport Mode. I wish my FIMI X8 SE 2022 had all of it features but the Blackhawk Pro 2 costs way more the my FIMI X8 SE 2022 that I paid $368 USD for. The Blackhawk 2 Pro is quite expensive, Starting at $799 USD. For that I can buy 2 FIMI X8 SE 2022's and crash one and I am still money ahead.
Kinda like buying a Caddilac over a Mercedes. Both are nice, but one is the King. Dji is King of this category. Mavic 2S on sale now

Arte there any multi battery chargers available for this drone?
Unfortunately all Ready to Fly (everything in a box) drones can only use the battery charger supplied with them. A professional battery charger would require a special cable interface to work.
The video looks not sharp enough, is there any focus issue about the camera lens?
Sharpness can be adjusted like on most drones (camera settings).
Does obstacle avoidance work in all modes
All but SPORT mode. Not sure if it works in RETURN TO HOME mode.

I have to say Mikey Stu gave it a nod for US based support and service, but no it is not on the same level as the Air 2S.
Honestly despite a lot of the good things about the BlackHawk, unless geo fencing is a specific issue for you, then root your Air 2S, or get an EXO.
I can't say the EXO drone is bad. But camera to camera the Air 2S knocks it out of the sky pretty easily, especially if you use it for business.
DJI has been real quiet after this dropped 🔥

If you are certain your remote is connected to the drone, and you didn’t block the camera on power up, then it should work.

Welcome to the channel. EXO drones has the license to sell in North America. Their drones are simply modified Hubsan drones to American audience specifications.

Good review but the only features I like are the NFZ and it's level 8 wind resistance. But in all honesty, I'll stick with my Air 2. Good to see some competition and realize DJI isn't a monopoly of a company.

I like them both tbh it’s just all the battle of firmware not camera and drone. I still use them both except I use exo drone blackhawk2 pro all the time than the air 2s. And the camera quality is literally design for cinematic as I found it easier to edit as. The air 2s for my opinion they are good with colors as vivid bright. So again it’s all comes down to firmware and extra features to make film easy. As recreational user too you don’t need all those feature unless you want to make easy video. It’s all about controlling your drone and the firmware and also the wind resistance.

Great review, HOWEVER, I wish you followed thru with a distance test. I currently own a EXO ranger that claimed a 1/2 mile flight distance of which i barely get to 1/4 mile before it self activates its RTH feature, which does work well. I see many other people complaining of the exact same thing so I know its not just me or my environment. I went with EXO because they are on American soil and they offer great customer service, ZI am just not satisfied with false advertising. That being said, I'd be willing to purchase right now, the Black Hawk that you reviewed if zi knew it would go just 2-1/2 miles. (i believe they claim 5 miles)
Anyway, I just found your reviews and will be checking them all out till i find a 15,000 foot distance..... for lsess then $1000. Thanks.
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to do long range tests in Canada.

So i was wondering why you only get 5 miles of distance if you have GPS ????
Most drones have GPS, not sure why there would be an expectation of more range. I actually have the Autel 6K Pro and just ordered this Blackhawk 2 Pro. Primarily because I want US made. But my Autel, despite what it advertises in range, I'm lucky if I keep a solid connection out to 1.5 - 2K. So, for me, 5 miles is an incredible distance!

Capt. From your overall ratings on that EXO drone, you think it'll keep up with the DJI drones?
EXO Drones are rebranded HUBSAN Drones, with upgrades for the North American market. Hubsan has always been a low cost alternative to DJI. Never as good, but then again you pay much less so you do get a savings.

and once again you have made an important contribution by presenting unknown brands with high potential. The EXO Blackhawk appears to be a lot of fun to fly. I find, for example, that the Air 2S takes good pictures and videos, but cannot keep up with the flight fun of a Mini 2 or Nano.I think it's also a question of size, and not just technology. or what do you mean ?
Never compare a drone above 250 grams with a drone less than 250 grams. A 250 gram drone is built and made for the purpose of each countries drone regulations. So, the Air 2S is a drone purchased by people who do not have to meet the 250 gram regulation.

This thing looks SOO bulky in comparison to the air 2s...and lighter by 30(ish) grams. I am loving the simplicity of the app. Nothing too overly complicated. Only real thing holding me right back is that size. I'm also wondering on the shortness of those arms contributes in that. Then adds to the noise. Id like to see them both together for size/noise comparison.

The drone is actually a bit smaller than the Air 2s. I used to drive to Winnipeg often passing through Thunder Bay. Now that I’m older my back can’t handle the long drives as much, but If I ever do, I’ll be sure to send out word.
Cmon … This doesn’t compare to the Air2s… lol. It’s clear Captain Drone has a biased opinion about DJI.. when I watched his 3 part mini3pro review I was thinking it but now I’m pretty sure . Dont get me wrong they are honest reviews but there is alway some kind of negativity towards them . I can’t pin point it but I do see the dislike…

Great review Cap'n! I am pleasantly surprised by this new drone. I have been seeing the ads everywhere for awhile now and the original EXO drones looked cheap and average. This one appears in competition with DJI and Hubsan. I think the initial asking price is too much but just my opinion. I would buy the DJI Mini 3 before I would buy this. The camera looks good and stable. I do want to know a distance test to see if it's a good as the competition. Hopefully you will do that if not Dustin Dunnel usually does that in Maui. We shall see. If you tire of that one send it this way ;) 😉 I know, don't hold my breath... lol
