Cool knife, not quite my style.
I'd recommend it if you find yourself willing to die to get a bunch of good picks in a small window of time, but not if you find yourself wanting to always be alive to stay a constant threat.

Since you can't recharge feign from ammo boxes both of these would be good with the DR
Kunai would be better than the dead ringer in this set, stealing your opponent's life seems much more vampirish.

I think the real strength of the big earner is something you didn't talk about: It is the best spawn camping knife.
If you spawn camp and players spawn at a rate of about one every two seconds (A spawn after a big mow down at a choke for example) you want to be behind or near their spawn with the big earner.
The enemies will file out and run straight for the point on predictable paths and if you just correctly pick the last guy in line you can pick the whole line in a high speed chain stab in a way no other knife can accomplish. The opposing team is not usually thinking 'spy at spawn.'
To be effective you have to watch for spawn wall hacks(*Spits indignantly*), so either perching undisguised, in a place that isn't checked or using the cloak and dagger is recommended for this strategy. You also can't fully run the strategy for the entire game because eventually they will start checking their backs so your strategy will have to shift before you, perhaps later, come back to it again. Still for spawn camping king of the hill maps or long runs on payload defense or 5 CP maps the big earner really lives up to it's name.

The Big Earner is probably one of my favourite Spy weapons in the entire game.
This weapon adds the benefits of chainstabbing due to the speed boost on kill and makes you able to reach and keep up with the faster classes like the Scout and Medic or after backstabbing someone you cloak and get out of there that you originally couldn't do with the other knives, but the only downside is having 100 health which opens you to be one shot by a Soldier's rocket, Demo's pipe and a Scout's meatshot making getting into the right position much harder.
Overall, a great sidegrade to the stock Knife that makes you catch up to enemies but makes you more acceptable to one shots from a lot more sources and what's make this one of my favourite weapons!

I love using it too, even if I mostly stick to Medic in comp...
The main problem I see running this with the Diamondback is that the Diamondback is best if you stay alive, while the Big Earner is mainly about getting an extra stab before you die in 1 hit.
The speed boost in no way requires you to die, what do you mean? It's a very nice escape and chase tool. Unless we are talking high level HL then I understand
Spy in general tends to die instantly after getting a stab. The 100 health makes that even worse. Kunai gives you a lot of healing, but Big Earner just lets you run a bit faster which doesn't add enough survivability to really be good with Diamondback.

First off, the speed boost is enough to get away while cloaking after a backstab.
Combine with DR and you get even more speed boost

which is why the diamondback should be paired with the kunai
One of my favorite knives to use, for it's surprise factor of being fast as a scout and getting those bullshit stabs. The surprise factor is pulling it out in the match after stock or spycicle and then zooming across the whole map for he demo who doesn't turn around. But dying to the spam or getting cucked by your small hp is the the downside.

When I started playing spy, I used the YER and C&D which worked out pretty well for me, then I started branching out.
The big earner back in the day was the first and go-to knife for me and I had lots of fun getting chain stabs. I also paired it with the diamondback and the Clutch Ringer to make myself a nuisance to the other team.
Now that the DR is getting nerfed, I stick to the L'etranger to prepare for the changes for the ringer. I still enjoy the Big Earner anyway and it's chain-stab glory

I watch all of these videos and I don't even like to play spy all that much.... But I keep coming back.

The big earner can be useful for when your trying to slip away from danger but then I can't see any other any uses.

its pretty good at backstabbing people who know you're a spy, most people don't really know what to do when the spy is running so fast

You know I was waiting for this video :D. And about the Big Earner, this is my least favorite knife in the game because with the lower hp you can die most of the damages like a pipe. And Big Earner doesn't gives your hp back like kunai so thats why I dont like the Big Earner :(
It makes chainstabbing a lot easier and funnier but still dont like him. My top knifes:
1- Conniver's Kunai
2- Stock Knife
3- Spy-cicle
4- YER
5- Big Earner

I personally love the big earner, I think it's lots of fun, yet I never use it. I always find myself using stock or even the kunai. Even then though, every time I use it, I have a great time.
Normally when I backstab someone, I die in less than a second. With the big earner, I can run away.

The Loadout I use diamondback as my gun stock knife or if I want to big earner or spy sickle when I use the dead ringer then then I just use the spy kit in regular sapper

Yes, you can use the speed boost for chain stabs, but a lot of times I use the speed boost to run away quickly after a stab.

a Woolen Sleevelet l'etranger and invis. Since it's ugc and no razor back, killing the sniper is all I do, all game. And sometimes the med aswell

I've seen some 6s scouts run this knife when they offclass to Spy, why might that be?
in 6s you tend to use spy as a one off suicide, so the chance of getting multiple stabs is pretty big seeing as you'll probably die / not be able to get the backstab if you're seen anyway so the -25hp isn't as big
Yeah, In 6s, you are going to die, and if you get to stab the medic, you might be able to get the pocket or something with this knife, makes sense.

In my opinion the big earner is the best knife because usually if you would get into a bad situation you usually die anyway.

enforcer and big earner don't go well with dr (at least not enforcer), they're better with invis

My favorite Spy loadout:
Primary: Diamondback
Melee: The Big Earner
Watch: Invis-Watch
Sapper: AP-SAP
This loadout offers an aggressive playstyle (which is perfect since I always play KOTH) while also keeping the on-hand Cloak and the Diamondback allows me to snipe important targets after gathering crits to eliminate important targets from any range or at least force them to retreat. The downside to this loadout is that it's awkward to use at close range outside of backstabbing.
Also I just love the AP-SAP's voice lines

The big earner to me is my least favorite of all the spy's knives. While the kunai makes you extremely brittle, but rewards you with a lot of health after butt stabbing someone, the big earner just make you weak, but it's fine because you get some cloak back and you're speedy for a few seconds. It's upsides are great and all, but the -25 max health isn't just rough it's also unnecessary. It needs a down side that doesn't feel so troubling when being used like 10% slower movement speed when equipped or something.
