This is THE overview of the most prominent ethnic group in Guinea-Bissau, the Balanta. Their name means "Those who resist". They migrated to West Africa from the Nile Valley some time ago....these are all attributes of my paternal ancestry that is the BALANTA.
Thank you/Abeneh to all who made this possible.

I ADMIRE SO MUCH THIS ETHNIC GROUP WHICH I'M A PART OF IT, BY THEIR COURAGE, DETERMINATION IN THEIR POSITION AGAINST PORTUGUESE REGIME. THEY HADN'T ECCEPT ANY KIND OF PROMISE FROM SUCH REGIME, SO THAT COULD TURN THEIR HEART TO GO BEHIND THEM AND KEEPING IN THE DOLOROUS PUNISHMENT. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK U SO, BUT SO MUCH BY THIS INITIATIVE, PLEASE KEEP ON WITH IT, YOUR PEOPLE WILL FEEL HOW GREAT AND SO SPECIAL THEY ARE, SO THAT THEY CAN KNOW THAT WHAT THEY DID FOR G-BISSAU IS TO PROUD AND CONSIDER..."ABENNY BIAFA, N'GHALÉ KI NA WAGNA KI FAYE".

I just tumbled on this video. I am a South Sudanese (Dinka), google this tribe and you will discover that Balanta and Dinka shared one ancestor. The Dinka language is similar to Balanta language. I was listening to Balanta video where a Balanta old man was doing dome offering to a deity at a shrine... I was so so surprised to discover that the processes of offering and words use when talking to ancestors were so similar. Though, I have never been to West Africa (leave alone Guinea Bissau) I have heard some few Balanta words from the old man. This is amazing. Dinka called God "Nhialic" and Balanta called God "Nighale"...the writing is different but pronouciation is the same. The Balanta, like Dinka and other tribes, are Nilotic (people of the Nile). The famous Nilotes are the Dinka, Nuers, Luo (people of Barack Obama's father), Masaai etc etc...most tribes in East Africa (Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Tamzania) are Nilotic people.

Thank you sir for taking the time to give us an introduction into the past. Our history is so deep and this connects the dots for me because it confirms the fact we came from Egypt/Sudan, to Guinea Bissau in which my DNA shows I'm related to Pharaoh Ramses III through my Paternal side whom ruled those areas. Also makes sense in why we are the People Who Resist!! He was a Israelite that took over the throne of Egypt and won 3 significant wars!! We don't play! Love you all!! Blessings!!

Great video brother! Just one correction, balafon and bombolum are not the same instrument. Balafon is similar to a xylophone, whereas bombulum is a drum with far reaching bass sound that is used most often to communicate important events between different “tabankas” (villages), such as a death of an elderly person, or even played at their funeral proceedings.
    Mantenhas! ✊🏾💪🏾

We all have 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents, 16 great great grandparents and so on. The average 30 year old of African descent in North America, the Caribbean, Central/South America and Mexico would probably have had at least an 8th great grandparents born on the continent. We have 1024 8th great grandparents. If only half of your ancestors came from Africa, that's still 512 people. Africa Ancestry DNA companies are only telling you where your one direct maternal and one direct paternal ancestors came from. That still leaves 510 people who could have come from other places in West Africa. Blacks who have been in the diaspora for centuries, have ancestors who came from every group of people in West Africa. I'll claim them all. Not just the two for who a direct maternal or paternal dna test can match with a present day West African population.
