Although I have been singing since I was a baby, I never necessarily considered myself a "singer". I use the sân fâyé (word sound power) of my voice to honor my ancestors as part of my spiritual practice. This is a song that I created by translating the lyrics of Psalm 19:14 into K'rassa (Balanta language) while playing over a Nyabinghi "heartbeat"/fundeh rhythm using my Conga. Psalms 19:14 is ...

Congrats on your MatriClan and PatriClan results! 🇬🇼🇸🇱 I’ve recently took African Ancestry on my mother’s side of the family and found out I share genetics with Tuareg people in Mali 🇲🇱 and did my PatriClan test and 23andMe hinted that I share very close genetics with the Ambundu people in Angola 🇦🇴 and see if they are consistent.

I just found out My Y DNA links back to the Balanta people of Guinea. Nevertheless, my paternal grand parent was the son of a slave merchant named Captain Rowan Hamilton Ward. This slave merchant must've not been fully caucASIAN: "It must not be forgotten that hundreds of thousands of Guinea Negroes were imported into Europe from 1440 to 1773 and that today not one of these pure blacks remains. Negro slavery lasted in England for 330 years (1442-1772). Where are all those hundreds of thousands of pure blacks now? Swallowed up by the white, some of whose descendants in the Southern States, boast of their pure Anglo-Saxon stock. It is a very great error to think of the Europeans as a pure white people". -Joel Rogers, '100 Amazing Facts About the Negro with Complete Proof:: A Short Cut to The World History of The Negro', 1934
