Sincerely doubt there will be anything new. They gave us great Voyage album, show in London. Perhaps this year´s Eurovision from Sweden are going to give a nod to the best pop group ever.

What you have to remember is that, these ladies weren’t in a competition, they were singing a duet!. It wouldn’t have sounded so fabulous if only one of them had sung it. Two very different voices, one light, one dark. Perfect blend!

WOW!!! This was so incredible! One of the best musicals ever!!! And this duet is beautiful! The ladies really nailed it!! I was lucky to see this in London around 1986 (or may have been earlier 1985?). I still think it's a musical in the top -3. together with Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables (and maybe Cats). For some reason this musical was never really set up in the same way later. I saw some other tour versions of it, but the London version was the best. It should have been all recorded on video and available.

Great performance by both! It wasn’t the first live performance though. There had been performances of this on Barbara Dickson’s own show and in the European Chess tour, both of which were in 1984. This was in 1985.
The TV appearance wasn't live as such and the only date on the Chess European tour that Barbara did was Stockholm. But you're right - this was May 1986. Thanks for the correction!

Barbara Dickson is CLEARLY better. Technically and tonally streets ahead of EP. Plus Dickson is the real deal. A truly great singer plus a great songwriter and a musician who plays acoustic guitar and piano
I saw that show. I love Barbara's voice. I did meet Elaine. Yes she has a good voice. Jimmy Jewel introduced me to her. I found her to be quite rude. Elaine was condescending >> Not Barbara.

I'm disappointed to hear this but from other things I've read and heard about Elaine, not entirely surprised. She is known to be a diva about her voice, making demands in hotels for how the air conditioning should be, and never going anywhere without a scarf round her throat to 'protect' her vocal chords, refusing to be anywhere where people are smoking. Given the very high praise Andrew Lloyd Webber has given her it's easy to imagine that it went to her head.
I would protect my voice equally if it were my livelihood. ❤

You can't compare their voices. Every voice is unique. If a small person stands next to a large one, then the larger one will attract more attention.

Dickson is quite simply a much better singer - she has a beautifully rounded tone, unforced vibrato and superb diction. She overwhelms Paige here by force of her vocal ability and talent not because she is a couple of inches taller!!

You can't compare the singers. Elaine Page has a different pitch than Barbara Dickson. Barbara Dicksons pitch are Vibrato. Elaine Pages pitch is Mezzo-soprano.
You're not making much sense. Vibrato is 'a rapidly repeated slight change in the pitch of a musical note'. Barbara Dickson is also classed as a mezzo. Of course one can compare the vocal abilities of Dickson and Paige and quite simply Dickson is the more gifted singer
