Hi, my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent comes from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work, but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I would only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people consider this the lowest time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly, what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving, and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I have been living full-time in my self convert van.
Last week I was losing stuff like crazy! I dropped a big tube of toothpaste, heard it land on the floor, and it simply vanished. Later I found it in another place. I lost my driver's license, it returned to me stuck onto another card I had searched closely. The fingerless glove is stil MIA. In the van, things go on adventures "into the void," and eventually turn up in my dimension.
I knew that was you! Was walking my dogs along the beach and through the campground- wanted to say hi but didn’t want to intrude. So I’ll say hi now! 👋 Also, I was just telling a friend that I don’t understand how I can lose so many things in such a small space 🤣 Safe travels, and be well.
I saw a person way behind Emi, it must have been you then I saw a dog kind of running. It scared me for a minute. Lol

A card reader I put in a zippered pouch and attach a lanyard and mounted on a hook... I like to make everything accessible .

It happens sometimes we have good and bad days. It is best to distract yourself by doing something like camping. Allow yourself to decompress; eventually, it will come to mind where you put your memory card. The food looks delicious, and the Kitty is having a blast. At the end of the day, something positive comes out because you save $7 on your winter camping rate. Which is a good sign you find your memory card.
Yes, that particular park campsite is gorgeous and winter is the best time. I walk there everyday with my dog. I saw a herd of deer there the other day as well. Maybe one day I will spot you and say hi. Luv that chair and soft cover...that and sitting beside a fire, with a full stomach......that is bliss. MO

One thing this year has taught me is it is ok to change :) Being a minimalist helps me so much... less stuff. I hope you get a tiny home one day :)

So all of these campers in Canada seem to hv a lot, not living in a van full time and Canada lets u park overnight at Walmart multiple nights, PNW USA not so much and I don’t know of any free camping sites in Oregon or WA.
So she must spend summers in her tiny home then?

Hi Emi, even when bad things happen, (loosing your card, two cuts on your fingers) you can still laugh over it. Love your new camping chair with the soft warm cover. I’m glad Iceco choose you to give it too. We don’t have deers in PEI so I found enjoyment seeing them in your campground. Hope your card shows up real soon. Be careful throwing anything out until you do.

When I was younger my mom wore fake nails and after making us five kids our lunches for School . . . she realized one of her finger nails is missing. 😮 One of the older siblings found that fake nail in their tuna salad sandwich! Take good care of that cut, Emi. I sliced off a lot of thumb and nail using a mandolin. My nail grew back, but the tip of my thumb looks rather deformed! LOL Be safe!

The nice part about not using raw meat is that you can reuse the marinade or put your cooked veggies back into it while you cook the rice. I'll have to remember that - thanks for the tip!

Sucks when you lose something, but I’m always glad to see your posts. Your videos have grown over the years. I don’t get to be in my van far as often as I would like and just wanted to say your sharing brings me so much peace. Thank you. I know your luck will turn around.
I'm glad you showed the chair, I thought all they sold was fridge/freezers. It did look super soft & cozy with the cover. Be nice to know later how often you use it and how it holds up over time. I've gone through so many fishing chairs, it's time for a good sturdy one. That was so sweet , she was playing hard to get with that young buck.

Everything nowadays is collapsible... I use collapsible bowls and containers... and even a collapsible kettle.
