Hi, my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent comes from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work, but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I would only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people consider this the lowest time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly, what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving, and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I have been living full-time in my self convert van.
When Miss Kelly is not well, none of us feel well. Prayers that it's a food allergy and you and your vet can sort it out!❤

For those of us whose pets are just like our children, it can be incredibly stressful and worrisome when they get sick. I could tell that you were obviously extremely worried even though you wanted to appear cheerful. I truly hope Kelly is feeling much better with the meds until they figure out what's happening. And that you both take some time to relax. ❤
Please ask the vet if it's ok for Kelly to drink water from the creek. She is in a very controlled environment, so it rules out a lot of things. If Kelly is eating bugs, that could be a problem, but the most likely thing is when Kelly drinks water from open sources of water, she is getting pathogens into her gut. I wish you the best and for Kelly to get better soon.
I wonder if she's picking up something when she drinks from streams? Or those pesky mice? I hope she recovers soon!❤❤❤

Protozoa Giardia in the streams she drinks from. Years ago rare but now very common. I never let my dogs drink any outdoor water on our walks. Very treatable once diagnosed. Lots of terrible diarrhea otherwise. Back when my dog had it, fecal had to be sent to lab for expensive test. Well worth cost. Regular fecal tests vets do won't detect Giardia. Ask if they're testing for Giardia.

I’m a veterinary technician and I am shocked they would say to leave her diarrhea for 2 months!! I would definitely make them do some tests and find out the cause.
I am just a boat driver and I was also shocked. That’s a Vet that I would avoid in the future.
Completely agree. A pet owner must educate themselves about their pet's health. There are a ton of great veterinary articles online now, many written by DVM's.

My dog had blood in her stool. A stool sample showed a microorganism, giardia. Giardia can come from drinking unfiltered water. Has this been ruled out for Kitty? I hope you find a good answer, and she returns to normal soon!
I'm wondering if she might have picked up something while drinking water from a stream as she sometimes does. Whatever it is I hope it clears up soon. Best wishes for Kelly.

Here in texas we were advised for people to stay out of lakes, oceans and for pets not drink or be in lake, ocean water the past 2 summers. In one of your recent videos kelly was drinking from lake water when yall were out walking. Just wondered if it could be contaminated water. Praying for speedy recovery for Kelly.

Have vet check for worms. Eating mice can give her some nasty worms like tapeworms. ❤😢 Easier to check if you take a fresh stool sample to clinic.
Emi, when you and Kitty were out walking yesterday she was drinking out of that puddle or stream. I used to watch a lady on CZcams that lived off grid for a long time. Well she moved to a tiny apt closer to town. She went camping alone. She was way up on a mountain. It was beautiful. Well she filled her water bottle and used the rapidly flowing stream and waterfall water up there. She said I know this beautiful water is good water. Well right after that she got very sick. Abdominal pain, upchucking and running to the bathroom. None of the Dr.s could figure out what was making her so sick. They figured it was the water. They found something, some kind of bug or something from the water she drank. She was horrifically ill for a long time. I lost her website quite a while ago. Eventually she found out she had cancer too. I need to see if I can find her. I dont know if they ever found out what was in the water she was drinking. I know they told her that a lot of animals were going to the bathroom in those streams, and dead animals and such in there. Just occurred to me when you said kitty was ill. I hope they can figure it out and get her all better. Might not be the water. You cannot really stop your pets from drinking it. God Bless.

My cat almost died last year, we went through a lot getting him well, but I zoomed in in your cat food and it looks like the same stuff I have to give to mine now. Very expensive, but I, like you, love my cat so much and will pay the extra to keep him well. We all love Miss Kelly also and want her to get better.
As far as treats. I used to put some of my cats healthy dry food in a separate small container. I gave it out as treats and he ( and all my past cats ) got just as happy and excited. I don't think they care about what it is, as long as they get it. Lol.
Kelly looks happy and healthy. You take such good care of her. I hope it's something simple and she is over this soon.

I would discourage Kelly from drinking from streams and lakes. The water could be giving her diarrhea

A pancake with cheese, otherwise known as a quesadilla! I know what you mean about getting vet appointments, and it is so good that you’re staying on top of Kelly’s issue. My cat had similar symptoms and I let it go way too long and I had to put her down due to colon cancer and I miss her so much (she was a calico, too). You’re giving Kelly her best chance at getting healthy!

I give my cats colloidal silver as an antibiotic all the time. it's way less expensive than going to the vet for infections and they seem to like it. I hope Kelly is feeling better soon.😻💗

Hope all goes well with Kelly. On anther note, the sticks you use for the tripod for the Dutch oven. Home Depot sells metal rods that would be easy to store. Unless you like searching for the perfect sticks.

Vets, like Dr's... usually leave space for emergencies. Blood in the stool is something to be looked at asap.

Hi, I noticed Kelly drinking from the creek. Can you be sure that animal feces or urine didn't contaminate the creek with nasty microbes that could make other animals sick? Please tell her Vet that she could have picked up bad germs from the creek water so she can be tested. Good Luck with her care, her health. She's so special. Love you both.
Oh no, that's not good. Maybe Ms Kelly-Cat ate something from outside that caused that in her stooling. I hope her appointment at the Vet went okay with the labs Emi🙏🙏🙏😄

I often wonder about her drinking from the streams. They use to be pure, but I'm afraid the humans have messed that up.
Emi, I’m glade that they are checking her stool for parasites. You might want to Google “Giardia in Cats” because her symptoms are similar and she has been exposed to outdoor water sources. Sending my thoughts and prayers for a quick and diagnoses her speedy recovery. ❤
Emi, hope Kelly's fine. Be sure to get a copy of the blood test for your records down the line so you can compare what has changed in the future. Especially since you go to more than one vet. And especially for the BUN AND CREATINE those are the kidney values you want to keep a note of.

I lost my precious kitty a week ago ….so I know the stress you are feeling. My kitty was 9 years old and was never sick a day in her precious life…..I miss her so much! I took to her to the vet asap when she showed unusual behavior but to no avail …we could not save her! My prayers and wishes are with you and miss kitty.
