      Hey Gavin, we just wanted to make the most of the favourable wind direction to get past Portland and further west this year, So just generally making less stops in places we've already been, because it's all too easy for a quick stop to turn into a. longer one with us 😂⛵️
      We do have to anchor alarms, I think it was setting the potential swing distance incorrectly by me which triggered the alarm in the middle of the night, and then it's just really hard to settle again 😔😔

    • @CadohaAdventures
      @CadohaAdventures  Před 3 lety +1

      Well yes, when I checked our first fuel filter on the engine it all still looked good, so the dipper is taking what developed at the bottom of the tank, but it was still quite disconcerting to see. We put a lot more biocide in the tanks and have been running the dipper every time we're in a roll.
      Thankfully, so far, the samples are getting better and better ratios of fuel to sludge and we're keeping a video diary of how this plays out for the entire season, so we can all get a clearer idea of potentially how effective the dipper and chemicals are, or not?

    The only thing with crab and lobster, is that I hate the idea of boiling something when it's still alive. Is this what you did, or do you have a more humane way of cooking it?
    I'd love to know. I used to work in the aquatics business, so have had to kill my fair share of diseased fish. Methods ranged from bash on the head, to overdosing with anesthetics,

    Enjoyable video as always. Anchor alarms are a pest until you realise that the distance you need is twice the rode length. I got this wrong my first years of anchoring and lost a lot of sleep. Also remember the alarm is often set when already a rode’s length from the anchor. I invested in a golf distance range thingy this year, my wife and I never agreed how far away we were from land and other boats - now we know 😊. Another tip for a quiet night can be an anchor sail. I intend to make or buy one this year: sailingfortuitous.com/riding-sail/ have you come across this yet? Never seen any live aboard using them but from everything I read they help the anchor, reduce chaffing and better sleep.
