What else, Mary Jane from Spider man 2? I dont really play a lot of modern games but have there really been so many not even ugly but mildly attractive women in games recently? It just feels like a thing people belive and repeat without thinking about it first. There are so many other things wrong with video games, a majority being monetization, to complain about before "woman who was a 10/10 is now a 7.5/10". Or do the people making this argument really want to prioritize more hot women at the cost of making the game actually fun and fairly priced

This makes me so mad because Yasuke could be a REALLY cool character in the new Assassin's Creed WITHOUT needing to be the protagonist. He could've been a friend of the protagonist, a member of the Brotherhood, he could've been a mentor of the protagonist or something like that. Instead, he was chosen simply because of the colour of his skin. Really fucking disappointing, but then again, we're talking about Ubisoft here.

However, as a yellow person, I CAN say that I just lloove it when a banana, bleached to his or her core, works as a proxy for a big Western corporation that self-claims to be "woke" and helps it exercise its ideology over the uneducated, unwoke Asians.
Sachi Schimidt-Hori of Dartmouth College... The only thing remotely Asian about her is her name, and even that name she begged to differentiate by changing her surname, which is forbidden by the law in Japan.
They travelled to Dartmouth in the "far far east" to consult about "Japanese History" because, of course, Dartmouth is so famous for its academic authority over "Japanese History." As if there were not hundreds of universities in Japan.
Either they could not find a professor in Japan who agreed to the ideology, or they couldn't be bothered to fly to mainland Japan; it is ridiculous either way.
It is not even my culture they are appropriating, but it maddens me so much, as I know that the next in line would be mine.

Why would I wanna buy Assassin’s Creed in Japan when I can just play Ghost of Tsushima? A decade’s worth of repetitive empty sandboxes, horrible business practices and scandals have given me more than enough reasons to not wanna touch this game.
Besides the fact you NEVER play as historical figures in AC, the fact he’s the “samurai” likely means you don’t even have the choice to be stealthy. He’s purely the combat character. And I don’t think a pure combat protagonist should be in assassins creed. Should just play as the Japanese girl only and have Yasuke be your main ally
its not Crazy wanting good Looking Woman in Videogames
Once again I find it so odd that if you’re going to virtue signal to me a black man. Why not set it in Africa and use some African lore.
Because it would take actual effort, actual research, and an actual nuanced understanding of African culture as well as history to make something like that. Instead, you get nonsensical slop that you're not allowed to criticize because if you do then you're racist and sexist or whatever
They are unironically too racist for that.
Because it's part of the broader "hatred for Japan agenda". Because Japan has rejected globohomo for decades, the west wants to make Japan "Diverse and Inclusive", as in open the floodgates to immigration from 3rd world hellholes.
Japan sees itself as homogeneous and monocultural so one way to push the envelope is making media which depicts history revisionism. "AKshuzlly Japan was always diverse".
Don't believe me? Go listen to interviews from people in charge of making this media, they'll tell you clearly that's what they want, they don't even bother hiding it.

"Yasuke" was most likely an African Christian on a mission with the Jesuits and Valignano. Valignano saw the chance to convert Oda after he took a liking to the man, which didn't work, similar to the tenure of Castiglione in the Qing court. And when Oda died after the assassination fiasco, "Yasuke" was cleared and went back to the Jesuits, and he was never heard of again. He could have perished in the Christian persecution afterwards by the Tokugawa, or likely moved on with the Jesuits to China, the Philippines or back to Africa, or died during the travels to disease which was common. He was never an actual samurai, though a story with "shinobi"-esque gameplay would be interesting. It isn't impossible practically, if Castiglione can master Chinese arts, surely he could learn Japanese customs and combat. Ubisoft already branded the Church as the villains in Assassin's Creed, and you can already assume how they're going to twist the story. But fiction is fiction, even if I do not agree with it, even more so if they try to justify the persecution afterwards. What I do not like is that they Americanized "Yasuke", as he would have probably had a shaved face and short-kept hair, but I understand the target demographic.
All of this doesn't matter, though, the pricing of the game is absolutely outrageous.
Is it factual that Yasuke was returned to the Jesuit mission? AFAIK, we only know the new guy in charge, after Nobunaga, didn't want to keep a black slave around, comparing him to an animal. They could have very easily just sold him off to slave traders, out of Japan.
Personally i don't have a issue with the character itself but I'm nervous about the writer who apparently is following sweet baby inc.
Just don't want any propaganda or pandering in that game. Just adress what needed to be adressed and move on.
As for the prices though....
NO
@@dkosmari there are several japanese sources on both how they met and how it ended. There are also portugese letters to the church on how nobunaga took intrest in yasuke as well as him escaping. He wasn't a slave though....in fact a number of nobunaga focused sources mention him as a bushi ( aka warrior ) and part of his enturage. It is also said though that nobunaga gave him guards to protect him so the slave bit is exageration.
He is never mentioned in the samraj family or land scrolls though so people calling him highrank samraj is just misinformed. At most he were a landless lower rank one ( given rank by nobunaga ) but I don't think ubisoft is gonna swallow that pill if you catch my drift.

They finally broke me. Every new AC game that's come out since 2015 (with the exceptions of Origins and Mirage) have disappointed me, but I kept buying them because I'm just too invested into the series, the lore, and the historical playgrounds they build, but they finally broke me with this one. I knew this game wouldn't be good since it's apparently being made by the Syndicate/Odyssey team, and those are the 2 worst mainline games in the series in my opinion. Valhalla displayed a blatant disregard and disrespect for the time period and locations it was trying to depict, Opting for the typical "Hollywood" style Vikings rather than any degree of authenticity. And now they've done this... Even ignoring ALL of the other problems with the comedically fictional depiction of Yasuke, Assassin's Creed has NEVER made you play as an actual historical figure before, and for very good reason. It completely defeats the purpose of an Assassin's Creed game. You're supposed to be someone who "works in the shadows," typically someone who's so good at their job that they aren't even mentioned in the history books because their very existence is a secret. I remember when they said that they decided to remove the crossbow from the first game for historical authenticity. I just... Idk guys. Pretty much everything I enjoy has either been destroyed, or is in the process of being destroyed. At least we've got Shadows of the Erdtree to be excited about. At this point From Software is the only big studio I have any faith in. Once they fall, Idk what I'm gonna do.
This is why the Lemon Waman is our oshi
If anyone's wondering, the Japanese upload of Shadows has something like a 1-to-5 like to dislike ratio. People, regardless of culture, tend not to like when you appropriate their history to shoehorn in your extreme political values, rather than respecting and trying to portray their history for what it is.

The people crying about a black guy in a video game is mind boggling to me when this guy was actually one of the most interesting characters of the time period. Do people just immediately assume it’s “woke” culture because it’s not possible for a black slave to have been made into a retainer of a Japanese daimyo?
There are like 15 AC games, none have an actual historical person as a MC. ALL have main characters that are either natives or otherwise from a group that one would expect to find in the area at the time. They literally took the SINGLE black person in recorded Japanese history and made him the MC for their ONLY asian game ever. Why would people have a problem with that? Real mystery.

He's a literal footnote on Japanese history, and it's obvious the only reason they chose him is because he's black. And that the only reason they sought a real black man was to defend against him being black, because every other AC protagonist is fictional.
All this for a dumb agenda about a skin color? Damn, political agenda pushers like these really are a wild breed of stupid 😂@@disalazarg
There's like 3 paragraphs about Yasuke in history.
Fact: he arrived in Japan with Jesuit missionaries.
Fact: Oda Nobunaga liked to collect foreign things, and heard there was a tall black man that arrived with some Jesuits; he went there and nabbed him from the Jesuits, to be his servant.
Fact: 15 months later, Oda Nobunaga was betrayed by one of his generals, and got surrounded. Nobunaga ordered all his personal guard and servants (including his mistress) to commit sepukku with him. They all did it, EXCEPT for Yasuke.
Fact: when the traitorous general walked into the building, and found only Yasuke standing, Yasuke threw the short sword (that he was supposed to use for sepukku) to the ground and surrendered. When asked about what to do with the "slave," the general compared black slaves to animals, and "dismissed" Yasuke.
That's it. Everything else is either speculation, or total fiction.
We do know a lot of non-Yasuke facts. The title of "samurai" was reserved only for nobility. Nobunaga never stepped into a battlefield during that time, he was a dictator, not a warrior anymore. Peasants and slaves were not trained nor armed for combat.
You could say it's disrespectful to Yasuke to portray him as being part of the aristocracy that actually held him as a slave (and "disappeared him" afterwards.) I'm surprised the black activists didn't pick up on that, turning a victim into an oppressor.
Ubisoft when criticized about bastardizing history in older games: "We take INSPIRATION from history! This isn't real!"
Also Ubisoft when criticized about bastardizing history in new game: "He WAS a historical samurai guys (which he wasn't)! This is real (which it isn't)!"
And no need to be dishonest about it, you know why people are "freaking out" over it. When you see him on the screen you know it was because of an ideological decision. Same thing when other related things to progressivism happens in video games and movies. Like literally everything in The Last of Us 2, NORSE mythological characters being black or brown in God of War, the censorship of attractive costumes that accentuate the female form in Stellar Blade, the entire third act of Baldurs Gate 3 when it was opened up in the last year of development and "consultants" were allowed to come in, female custodes in Warhammer 40K, literally almost anything pushed out by Amazon and Disney and Netflix, and the list goes on and on and on and on. No one is "freaking out" over anything, it's just all so tiresome at this point and such a known quantity that even the most novice of noticer can pick up.
this isn't just a twitter matter. this is the most blatant and non defensable attempt at far gone politcal correctness shoved down fictional media. it's such a forced textbook attempt at casting by the inclusive trope archetypes, all they are missing is the wheelchair kid with glasses. it's not just western gamers riled up, the japanese are pissed too. after watching disney and AAA publisher bs from afar for so long, they finally feel the woke has come after them for merely being of their own race.
they finally have their turn at this supposedly historically based series, and they get disrespected by the most historically incorrect take on their culture.
long time fans, including the most reasonable japanese fan know assasin's creed is about a fictional character working behind the scenes of histrory. even ignoring the blackness for a second, there shouldn't be a historical person as the MC. it also makes no sense the one man that stands out the most in all of their history is somehow an assasin in broad daylight. it's also laughable that the girl wears the most black "ninja" robe in broad daylight witih a hood up, in a period and culture where women can't be walking around armed to the teeth. the japanese aren't happy this is considered historical about them, instead of giving them their own man on the cover of the game. and they are even less happy that the twitter and "journalist" woke army is first lying about them liking this game, and then next calling them racist for being disappointed at this treatmen
Kkk meeting in the comment section if anyone is interested

Are people forgeting you can be black and Japanese..... i feel like people are just calling themselves out. Every time someone sees a black person or a woman where they dont think they belong, they scream "DEI"
You can not be black and Japanese
Genuinely curious, could you explain how someone could be black and Japanese at the same time back in feudal Japan? Japan was notoriously xenophobic and extremely homgenous to the point that beheading missionaries was common practice.
Can you be a non-white and be a white supremacist? If so then count me in!
I can be a non-black black supremacist too right? My words certainly carry just as much weight as theirs.
@young98-cc5ls yeah surpise surpise, thousands of black slaves were in japan in this period, and some were surprise again graped, meaning Japanese black children it wasn't pretty, but it happened
@joshbetts7618 how many brothas are in your neighborhood btw?
Lumi: "i like beautiful women characters"
