In this video I show you how to install the Apple car play to your Ford Fiesta Mk6 , this is the android 7" unit that most people fit to the car, this has transformed my ST150!!
This is such an easy job to do to your car and for not a lot of money either. Having the carplay system now has opened up the ease of having, sat nav (waze), telephone, spotify all at my fingertips whilst making it safe to drive.

"Can you hear me? Yes" Lovely little conversation. I've just got a normal Sony bluetooth unit but the upgrade from aux/cds to bluetooth and being able to answer calls from the unit is such a quality of life improvement.
It’s actually good quality which I was amazed about more than anything! Better quality than the conversation at least 😂

When ignition turns on in cars with Auto Climate, the actuators start turning the temp and air output flaps until they find their limits, and then they move to the position selected on the Control planel. It puts a bit of pressure on the plastic gears each time it hits a limit. It could be that after years of that, one of the plastic gears has stripped or become a bit damaged - that sounds like what might be happening at the 7min 34 sec mark.

@@someone8476 I managed to break mine and wasn’t using it that much so replaced with an old crusty Sony one for cheap 🤮 to be honest there is so many flooding the market these days the model I got is no longer available and hard to comment on any other brand. I have been offered to review some but they are the screw into the dash ones and I have no interest in them 😂

cool video, helps a lot fitting your own touch screen. ive got a question about the capabilities of the thing, does it allow you to use CZcams music and google maps at the same time ? I saw comments stating you can run one app at the time which could be quite annoying.
Thanks mate, yeah only 1 app at a time, annoyingly I never really use it for CZcams, only Spotify and Waze at the same time

Hello there. Yes this has Bluetooth enabled on the head unit as my car did not have the Bluetooth working.

Hi Jan, mine was just plug and play to the original loom. I did have to add in the Wi-Fi and GPS cables but that was the only extra

I bought one with a rear view camera. do you maybe know how to install the rear view camera to get it to work? would be insane to get some proper help with it! :)
And another question, is the USB-Connection necessary for the CarPlay usage or can I directly use it wireless as soon as its installed?

Hey mate, that’s a pretty decent turnaround!! I think at the back of the unit there will be a port that you connect to camera to and then have to run the cable and camera to wherever you want to put it? Should be fairly easy apart from deciding where to put the camera itself.
The CarPlay basically works from Bluetooth, not on Wi-Fi or the USB lead so I have switched my Wi-Fi off and disconnected the USB lead.
I will be doing a review video shortly on it explaining all :)

okay so is the bluetooth always on as i start the car and the radio turns on? and if my bluetooth on the phone is active it will automatically connect? would be the easiest way to handle it instead of always going into the bluetooth settings and connecting the phone.
I would welcome a full review on the radio as i could use it to get the settings right on mine and maybe gain a little knowledge on the usage :)

No worries mate. Yeah so have Bluetooth on the headunit and your phone on and then it pretty much links to the CarPlay, can sometimes be temperamental connecting but not often. Only problem I found is if someone else uses the car and connects it forgets yours so you have to reconnect on the Bluetooth but no massive problems really.

Hello mate, how do you connect the steering wheel controls to this head unit? I have the same one but steering wheel controls aren’t working
I can’t actually remember exactly but you have to use the radio to communicate with the control stick but mine never worked that well

Brilliant job with the video, such a help installing mine. I am stuck at the same point you ended. Mine doesn't quite fit right. The clips don't catch and hold the unit in, there is a gap on the right (not a big deal) but the bottom doesn't go in fully, it needs about another 5mm so it's flush at the top and sticks out at the bottom? It feels like it stops hard against something but I can't work out what at the moment, had to walk away from it before I threw it out the door ;-)

Hi Luke, I ended up leaving these unplugged on mine as just using the car play part. I don’t even use the wireless adaptor or GPS as it works fine with the CarPlay bit and waze
@@DJLloydyref. GPS module: the Carplay protocol relies on the head unit’s GPS module to provide tracking information and it sort of mixes the two sources of location information (iphone and HU Gps module) to relay navigation data depending on what’s the strongest source. In your case, obviously it’s iphone’s gps. However, you might save some battery life if you plug in that gps module as well.

Ive hear those head units drain battery even if the car is off because the ventilator inside the radio keeps running, is that happened to yours?
Mine seems to be ok but it’s driven everyday pretty much, so the battery always charged. I have heard of these draining batteries since owning it though from a few people. I’m wondering if it’s can bus related or as you say an internal fan? I have never heard a fan though on mine?
When you plug your phone in for the use of apple carplay for example, does it charge your phone as well?
This model does not charge my phone however I may of connected it up weird 😭

I bought a similar unit for my 2014 fiesta but now it shows me distance in kilometres instead of miles. I went to settings but there is no option for Miles. Any suggestions?
Only place I know of is in the settings area for the heading but I’m sure mine was already correct

So this looks like the one in my car. But the screen icons and layout is different to mine. Maybe it's newer software? Also have you had issues with battery drain since fitting this?
I have gone into my setting to the boot up stuff and all off so it has to start from scratch each time engine turned off but still after a few days of not driving the car it's drained. Must be the head unit as battery has always struggle since installing it
Hello mate, yeah your video was what I watched which made me buy it but I went a bit more on the money side of things 😭 so my battery died within about 10 minutes of having it installed in the car without the engine running so I reckon they draw down on power, however not had the battery drain as of yet if left for a few days, and I hardly drive this car a lot, maybe 3 times a week on short journeys. Potentially you have a lead that is on a permanent live? Once headunit os off it shouldn’t drain the battery like yours? How old is the battery?
@@DJLloydy not sure. Maybe it is old. So you think I may have plugged something in the back of the new head unit that isn't used and could be draining
Can you remember what you plugged in? I am thinking it could be the actual wiring of the headunit not something you have plugged in. Maybe something is drawing down from a constant live? Electrics is not my thing so just wondering what it could be drawing down your power :( battery being old I guess should not matter either
@@DJLloydy I'm sure it was GPS, radio and then the large harness. I have thought about buying another to try out. Can you change the colour of your backlights?
But yeh your software is different to mine so wonder if it's had updates since
I plugged in, large harness, Wi-Fi and GPS and the 2 USB leads, I haven’t messed around with it too much to see if I can change back lights but it does look slightly different to other models I have seen on CZcams so maybe different software on there like you say. I am going to have a mess around with it over the next week or so and see what can be changed but it is quite limited on this one. I did go for the larger ram as well but don’t think that would do anything?

Hello, sorry not sure exact model but you should be able to put into Ali express and it should come up, just make sure it says car play to get the function
How did they hear you on the call. Do you have a car mic fitted ?
The unit has an in built mic on it already so no need to connect anything. However if you have a loud droning car you have no chance of them hearing you 😂
Just fitting mine now and can’t get it to start up? checked for loose cables in the back but all seems to be connected. any ideas?
Have you fully clicked on the isoblock at the back?
So i fitted mines and half way through went to test the unit and all worked fine, somehow after messing around with the cables it didnt boot up any more, turned out the stereo fuse blew so i replaced it and its working fine again. Musta had a short-circuit somewhere. But check your fuse if you're still having the same issue.

Hello mate, when installing mine I just plugged in the connectors at the back and it pretty much switched on straight away after booting itself up. I’m guessing you have checked for a loose connection?
Double check your stereo fuse hasn't blown, mines blew after installing the unit but replaced it and its working fine now
Hi, just bought one how did you get the CarPlay to work. I’ve tried screen mirroring but the CarPlay option isn’t coming up. Do I need to download a secondary app on my head unit
Hi mate, mine had an app called TP link or something like that installed on it already, when you bought it did it say apple car play on the sale screen? Some come with it and some don’t from what I could see when buying

Mine connects via Bluetooth to the car kit blink I think it’s called. Once your phone is connected via Bluetooth it kind of just fires into life

You will have to press the TP link button on the headunit as well but mine kind of just connects to the car now when I get in as long as Bluetooth is on

Hello mate, I will have a look at the weekend as need to have a mess around with it, I wouldn’t recommend if connecting a sub to it or an amp as don’t think they are as good as a dedicated stereo

I think they have changed the link now as sold out potentially, if you search Ford fiesta 7” android car play it should bring up similar models I hope

Hi mate, they have probably sold out I’m guessing, if you search Ford Fiesta mk6 android on Ali express there are different ones that pop up, you just need to look for car play model :)
