Yeh that was a big reason for getting this. It's obviously not the best quality with this sort of price tag but functions fine, does all you need and looks very OEM
I've got to give it to you, that is very cool and as you say looks OEM, and very high end at that. The latest computer screens on top of the dash these days look totally Aesthetically ridiculous and un necessary. Really impressed with your care, detail, and respect over the car as the last 20 yrs has seen a great revolution of Sports Hatche's but the fiestas and focus's are special, as well as the mid 90's Peugeot 306 GTI 6 another brilliant country road hugger and many others to mentjon . Keep up the good work. Brilliant video.

I have to say I've always said if I were going to modify a car and update the inside ide want it to be subtle but really nice, the way you've done everything so far in my opinion is class and very well thought about, none of it is over the top, I think if ford were to do another anniversary edition they should come to you for inspiration.

How cool would that be of one day Ford decide to celebrate the Fiesta ST brand by bring back a special Mk6 Fiesta ST200 or something where it comes with 200bhp, only 200 made, in a modern couple of colour choices, but same interior as 2006 but with some modern touches.
@@DriveWithAndy yeah that sounds awesome , ide definitely purchase, I feel all manufacturers could do the same, a modernised version with the classic shape. Ide also love to see a ford escort RS modernised too. Might be showing my age here 🤣
@@falconknowledgey oh yeh any old Ford I would love. Love a MK1 Fiesta or MK1 Escort but made brand new so all the mod cons but the old look. I'm sure it could be done private but cost a bomb
So just for people to know, my one took 3 HOURS to download the satnav albeit I have naff tinternet in my area. Very happy with the unit though and as Andy said, it looks the part, is louder than the stock Sony and for £80 or so defo an improvement 👌cheers Andy.
good comment Tony and thanks. Intersting youve mentioned that the sound as i feel its louder. No beter in sound quality. Although i think this new head unit can deal a bit more wattage than the standard unit did so i want to get slightly better speakers at some point as the standard speakers are rubbish, no base at all

@@DriveWithAndy Just installed the double din today, got the same problem with the clips and probably wouldnt have known what to do without this video. A small question did you also struggle connecting the pins in the back? It seemed to me as though there wasnt enough space for the clip to fully close, managed to nudge it into some sort of correct position though and it now looks great
@@jackbelli5229 ah really, it's so strange as loads have installed this since my video and said it went in no problem. Glad my video helped though, it's not a buggy to remove the screws, as long as it fits and works 😁👍👍

Yeh it's pretty straight forward with plugging. Just the original wiring loom goes into the new wires at the back and the radio cable. Then the GPS as well

@@MartinAlmond yeh mine took about 2 weeks to arrive.
Yeh once you do the hotspot and download the maps into the built in satnav it's a great thing to have as means if your not bothered about traffic info or using your mobile data it works offline. But then you can use your phone as a hotspot and the heat unit uses it for Google maps which is awesome

Hi so yes I do think the head unit has a very small drain on the battery so let's say you leave your car for a week without running it you may notice it starts slow. I've just had a better battery fitted to mine and then for times when I wownt be driving the car for days I have a battery drain charger that just ensures the battery doesn't drop.
So for Bluetooth you can use things like Spotify or Amazon music and once connected to your phone you can control the music on the headunitb

Once paired that's it. If you leave your Bluetooth on then it connects each time you start up the car. You can see as the Bluetooth icon is indicated along the top of the screen

i havnt used it to call, not sure if you can just call via the screen or if the calls can be answered and spoken through the unit. Not usre it has a mic. have t try it out and see.
Sound quality for music is no better than standard with this unit. Just wanted soemthing more modern and fun in the car and for the price i think its awesome. One day when i have spare money i want to upgrade the soeakers in the car as they are a bit rubbish as standard
@@DriveWithAndy Oh ok, it looks like the mic is on the bottom left hand corner of the stereo, so I'm guessing it might be a bit weak, other then that it really looks awesome, it looks like it's supposed to be in the car, and I like how it works with the column controls as well.

You shouldnt have too much trouble as the main loom from dash plugs into the loom in the head unit. Then from memory it's plugging in the left right audio cables and Ariel

Which one did you get? On Ali express it's showing h1, h2 h5 and h6? But the cheaper ones look abit different to yours
@@davidcourtley9787 they may well of changed now. Back when I got mine I got the cheapest one as didn't need storage space as just wanted a nicer head unit that had sat nav and bluetooth
Hi Andy, I went ahead and ordered this despite being a bit more expensive than I thought, quick delivery though, it has just arrived. Will probably fit it over the weekend, just wanted to ask you something. I am looking at the small connector that came with the unit, AUX cable I am ignoring, I can see where the black connection guess in the rear of the radio and also where the white small connection goes but where does the medium size white connector go in the rear of the radio, it does not seem to fit. Hoping you can remember 😂 Martin
Got it installed and fitted easily, looks good. Only issue is that the aerial adaptor for some reason does not fit the cars aerial, so will need to buy another one of those, not sure if the Ford aerial fitments are any bigger, but other than that, really good.

Just need to look at the aerial adaptor as the one supplied does not seem to fit, I thought that would have been the easiest thing. Hope you cars ok and love all the video's, keep them coming.
@@DriveWithAndy Sorry to keep asking questions :-). When you installed this, did you have to swap any wires around, I remember I did with a Skoda I had. I only ask as I have been out to look at the aerial problem again but I have a flat battery, probably just coincidence with the cold weather but just wanted to check about the wiring. Thanks Martin

thats what Ive been looking for, you could add a usb and an aux port at the coin slot i guess, did you have to solder new cable management, or was it plug and play with the original cables?

@@neurontechno oh yeh I didn't show. I had mine go to the left behind unit as there is a gap into the glove box so out it behind that and then ran the wire up the left hand side to bottom corner of front windscreen

Mine was just the standard 6 CD changer but I'd of thought the Sony system would also be a straight swap as the dash is exactly the same

As long as it's the facelift Mk6 Fiesta it will fit the same. So a 2006-2008 model.
I would like to try another touch screen system but not got the finds as yet. But for the price I am happy with this and seems to of got popular since I made this video

The installation of the wires is pretty easy, just a matter of plugging in the old/standard car wire loom into the new one. But if your stuck I can send a pic I did showing the wires via my Instagram

@@kostas411 I think this one comes with a USB connector that you can out in the back. It's a cable so you could out the cable through into the glove box and plug a USB into it

Do you need WiFi for the gps to work? Or is it just for the first time when you’re downloading your apps, and then it works anywhere?
Just for when first downloading apps and updating the Google maps offline mode. The built in Nav just uses the gps and works great. Then you can do offline Google maps but if you want traffic you need to connect via a hotspot on your phone

No issues, little bit of messing to get it right but pretty simple really. I did put a pic up on the video showing the wires going into the radio

2gb and 1gb refers to memory. Not storage. "how much you put on it" isn't related to that number. Unless you mean how many applications you intent to use simultaneously

Hi Andy, just bought the stereo, need a bit of guidence if you can remember. The kit comes with 2 harnesses.
One has the RCA plugs with a 20 pin connector. ( not using ) The other main harness + power connector, also has a 20 pin connector, and an 8 pin. but both 20 pin connectors are different. the one that fits correctly is the RCA one.
Or is it I only have to plug in the power jack to the stereo, and the other end into the cars quad lock connector, and thats it ? Appreciate any help. Thanks.
Heya. Ah sorry I don't remember. I just had to have a mess with the plugs to make sure it turned on and audio worked. From memory there was a loom that just plugged into the original wiring harness in the car behind old unit. But apart from that I can't remember exactly how the wiring sat. Sorry

One other niggle is the volume on its lowest of 1 is like 5 on a normal car so you can't ever have it as subtle, it's either off or on

No facia, it's as seen in the video. Looks OEM which is what appealed to me. Functions well as seen in the vide especially for the price. Just have to wait a while to get it, mine was 3 weeks

Ok so what I can confirm is someone else has used their apple phone to connect via Bluetooth and play via the Spotify app on the phone to play the music through to the car. I'm pretty sure you should be ok, as end of the day the headunit just needs a hotspot setting up to connect to an internet connection. That's what I did on my android phone to download CZcams

On the standard built in Nav? Mine is mph, can't remember if I set this or not. It must be in settings somewhere.
The radio is same as standard, must be area as both this radio and even our newer car with DAB looses signal in the same spots around here

Oh god the maps took ages to download. No joke maybe a good hour or so. I thought it had froze but it just took ages.
For the clock, I had to do this today. You go to the Settings, then Android Settings, then youl find the clock, date etc
Sorted the clock - maps will need to wait 😂

nope, but weirdly it has stopped a few times. But then when i turn the engine off and on the next day the beep has returned
Yikes I was just about to buy it but then yu said it’s hard to put in not sure I’m a handyman as much as you to screw it like yu said
It probably looks worse than is. Just a Philips screw and un did the top two on both sides, nudges back a couple of mm and then tightened the bottom two screws so it didn't move.
As said the other lad I know who bought this said his slotted in no probs at all
Hi Andy, I’m having abit of trouble fitting this. I’ve tried fitting this twice now and both times it has blown the fuse, the stereo fuse is 15A, do I need a bigger fuse or is there anything else I could try? Thanks.
Hmmm that's weird. Sorry but not sure what to suggest as this is the first I've heard about fitting this and it blowing a fuse. I didn't change what was in the car for the radio fuse. Sounds bad but may be best to post up on some Facebook groups

@@sakuranbo4151 I was plugging in the rectangular cable - think it’s a blank space for the additional cable adapters used for amps and auxiliary ports etc… leave it unplugged if u don’t need them.

Curious to see how this will work with aftermarket door speakers and a sub, doesn’t seem to have an rca output on the back...
Yeh I would like better speakers as the standard ones are a bit dull, not very sharp and deeper tones are not really there, needs more base and also sound deadening in the doors etc.
What is an RCA Output?
@@DriveWithAndy On most single and double din head units sold in the uk, there will be a red and white cable output on the back of the radio which carries the signal to your subwoofer in the boot, but this radio doesn’t seem to have this output and uses some kind of proprietary connector.
@@Ajsski99 oh I see. I think you can buy something to splice those wires into a plastic connector which then plugs in the back of the unit

I want to say iPhones work but not 100% sure. But I do remember when I first bought this there was only one other I knew who had one and back when I was setting it up they said they used an iPhone to download the offline Google maps etc

I wish there was, only real thing that I don't like about but weirdly about 10-20% of the time it doesn't beep. Probably cheap software

@@user-sw6zd7uv2r for that you would need to run a cable from around the globe box either under the floor or ideally around the edge of the roof lining and have it come out above the rear window to install the camera.
Or if you look up Nextbase dash cams they do a duel edition that my mum has and that had a rear view camera that looks to the back and that's great for ease

Is it DAB radio ? If so does it work off of a factory set Ariel or do you need an special DAB Ariel to get a signal ? Also do you have to disconnect the battery to fit the new radio in ? Does the new radio need a code ?
It's been so long since I got this I can't remember about the code. But it would of been in the instructions I'd of thought when I got it. But I'm thinking it didn't. Just normal radio but I think you can connect it to have DAB. I didn't disconnect battery to fit it. Thing is I bought this mainly just for looks. Rarely use the radio or any features

Yes shame about the DAB but have been using my cd player but willing to sacrifice CDs as I have a Spotify account so this would be handy for downloaded Spotify tracks on the BT function. As for the maps. I think I'd prefer to use the Google maps than the nav function as with Google maps is probably more advanced. I guess I'd have to download the area I was going to on Google maps though on the home WiFi before setting off.
I don't have a Fiesta ST. I got a 2007 fiesta so doesn't have air con or volume and radio buttons on the steering wheel. Have you got a video on how you made your back lights red and blue ?
Unfortunately my car doesn’t support this double din as it can only fit the 2006 fiesta and I have a 2005 😢
Hello, do you have troubles with battery with this installed? Did you manage to fix that?
So I do think it may of affected my battery. I replaced the battery about a year ago and seems to of been ok since but before that I found I had to do a battery drip charger at the weekends.

Andy, please can I ask, where did you wire the backlight cable into to get the backlights to come on? I have just installed this head unit and mine do not illuminate? thanks.
Hmm that's strange, have you tried a few variations of the cables before re installing?
@@DriveWithAndy the cables all seemed to only go in one place, the manual has a trouble shooting section and mentions making sure the cable labelled ILL is connected to the headlights?
I'll take it out again later and double check.
@@CarlFreeman ahhh really. Well that kinda makes sense as when I switch on my headlights it illuminates and on the main menu the graphic of the car the headlights come on.
Check the white plug goes into the right section of the white plugs
@@DriveWithAndy it seems it's a small 3 pin split connection labelled rare use that wasn't connected, with red and orange wires. I have connected it and now the backlights come on with the headlamps. Strangely the unit now stays on when the ignition is off, I have to use the on off button. Thanks.

Hmm must be that a wire behind wasn't plugged in. But can only guess. Been nearly 2 years since I installed this so do t remmember
Right I’m getting closer to working this out it’s to do with the Canbus setting, can you tell me what yours is set to please? It’s in the factory setting password 8888 first on the list, mine was currently on NO CANBUS, which I guess why the steering wheel controls were not working, but if yours are I just need the right settings fingers crossed, been bugging me for ages!!!!
How’s it holding up after almost 2 years of usage? Does it still work as when you purchased or have any issues arrived? As I know some headunits tend to shut off after a couple years of use..
The issue I seem to have, but only me, is when you answer a call sometimes the radio volume goes up and only way to stop it is shut engine off and on again. I.T. style

As when I did mine I chose China and took 3 weeks but then a lad messages me saying China was a lot longer but Poland was 2-3 weeks. So things must of changed since I bought it. Might be stock availability

@@DriveWithAndy Well in Croatia, we need to pay 25% vat+ 10 euro "customs fee" if items is from China. We don't need to pay any vat if item is shipped from EU. Btw does your radio turns off when you turn of engine? I read that it is not good for android radio, as it should be in stand-by when off. My current old FORD 6000 CD radio turns off when engine is off.
@@Anton008 when I then the engine off the stereo does then off as in no radio showing. But when you turn the engine on there is no start up screen so maybe it does not fully turn off as you said

It is a direct fit. I've heard most fit ok, but a few were like mine were it wownt click in and had to do the remove screws and adjust the sides a mm or two

I can not confirm 100% but personally I don't see why not as I assume you just don't require the function where you program the buttons

This is the Mk6 as far as the UK knows them as. It is confusing as it should be the mk5, but when Ford facelifted the MK4 from the round lights to the more aggressive lights they called it the mk5 so then this shape became the Mk6 🙂

Mine is 3 years old now so not sure if the software is the same but mine keeps the stations once you do the auto tune

Hi, I've recently ordered it. The problem is that the ventilator on the back never turns off (even if I take out the car key). I checked the aliexpress comments of that radio and they recommended to unplug the "low use" cable on the back, but then the radio doesn't work at all (except the ventilator 😅). Anyone had the same problem?
That may explain why even though I've turned off the faster start up it's still draining my battery if it's drawing power to run a fan
same problem, im worried that my car will not even start one day, huge disappointment, i hope there is a solution to this
@@SabianBeats yeh I have had my battery die in my and I charge mine all the time, soon to be replaced. I am not sure it is the head unit. Needs to be checked. I am actually thinking to try a newer version of this style of head unit as the one I got is quite old now and the software has changed since so I would be interested to try another

no, wish it would just turn off, but this is how it stays when engine is on and you have pressed and held the on off button
@@DriveWithAndy Ah i see, i have a very similar unit, it has the same functionality, is missing a bootup logo change like yours and when the engine is off or when stereo is turned off, it just goes black, would be nice if i could have the time/date displayed like you have
and then when key is cycled on, it powers up immediately and can do the usual shenanigans

Just red. But got to say seen the red with the standard green and works and looks great with my blue lights. With a couple of the bits inside already red like hazards and Speedo dials it works well

Sorry I can't say for certain, I think iPhone works but only going off when I bought it I spoke to someone about setting up an internet connection to download Google maps and the other guy used an iPhone to set up a hot spot. But apart from that I would not want to say. Sorry

@@DriveWithAndy it's so hard to try find a compatible android stereo! Got the 2002 pre face lift model, so similar shape to yours but everything seems to be fit for the mk6 2005 onwards I believe it was? Didn't know if anyone has got one or knows a stereo and compatible bracket for this!

Hi, I bought a similar radio but mine has a CD/DVD drive. I linked my phone with the radio and tried to play cartoons for my kids but it doesn't allow even when the car is not moving. Is there a way of enabling the radio to play videos while driving, I want it for my kids.
That's odd, so does it play whilst standing? But as soon as you drive it turns it off?
@@DriveWithAndy It only plays CZcams when not moving, when it moves it stops. It doesn't want to play CZcams or any video when I link via the phone even when it is standing.

Bought this radio and have an issue with it bowing fuses when the battery is reconnected. Think its got a dodgy connection.... After waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive, not impressed.
That sucks, no idea why it's blowing a fuse. Never heard this happening as loads run this head unit now. I hope someone can answer this for you. Best bet is to post on Facebook in the Mk6 Fiesta groups and see if anyone has an answer

How do you do that? Use hotspot with conecting WiFi?...when you whant to use the phone hotspot to the radio unit the WiFi must off.
You can only use that with data .
Is it not posible that the radio unit use WiFi from the house.
So most of the time it's just radio. But by the odd chance I want to mess to do something internet based I just turn my hotspot on and my details are pre saved

i had the girl from modsnflocks make them for me. But i think you can do them yourself, im sure aliexpress and ebay sell the knobs. May need to search for swapping them over though as i didnt do them

I'd say for the money it's decent. It looks good both being a touch screen and also the surround looks OEM. The satnav works well. Has Bluetooth for handsfree which works fairly well. Works but now and again has sound issues. But as a whole I still like it. Eventually I would love to spend a lot and get a higher quality one

Not as far as I have found. But weirdly it has stopped now and again. Probably just cheap so doesn't always beep haha. In a good way. But yeh I wish you could turn it off 😞

@@timmyrichmond2977 yep it was as simple as pull your standard unit out and use the original loom to plug into the loom the new one comes with. The new one comes with more cables than you need as it has various extras like USB or Left and Right cables etc.
For the screws it seems I was very unlucky as others have messaged me saying it has gone in fine.
I am fairly sure a lad used his iPhone to set his up like downloading Google maps and just used it for his music. But not 100% sure
