Things like this is one of the main reasons why the majority of the gaming public don't bother engaging with gaming news. They just buy the games they want to play.

There's a difference between race swapping being good and good writing being good. IMO, you're doing a shit job at adapting a character when the only recognizable part about them is the name.

Thinking back to GTA4 and the expansion "The Ballad of Gay Tony", this was easily the best expansion of the game, and the protag being gay had nothing to do with the story being fucking amazing.

Race swapping/diversity etc in media isn't woke, I would argue what people call woke is lazy race swapping/diversity in media. Arcane for example has tons of diversity and is based off an existing medium, pretty much beloved by all even none LoL players like myself. Velma also has tons of diversity and is based off an existing medium but is universally hated and disliked.
It's not diversity/race swapping most people have an issue with, it's a bad show that goes out of it's way to piss off it's own audience by rubbing it in peoples faces in diversity and preachiness that is woke. The reason there is such a big overlap between unfun media and diversity is because they know by adding diversity into their terrible media they can use it as a defence and the critics will give them good reviews no matter how terrible it is. Don't like our badly written show? You must be a racist! All criticism begone!.
You are spot on mate, I'm tired of all these badly written movies, games and TV shows that shove a political agenda down people's throats. I'm also tired of the lack of creativity, the race swapping of already established characters for no reason and the lack of quality. I would love to see a show set in Africa or Latin America or the Middle East because I think there are so many myths and historical events that we could explore. Or what about a good old fashion buddy cop movie set in 80s Miami? Or maybe a cyberpunk setting in retro futuristic Japan or something in Ancient China? Now that would be interesting, I just think there are so many things we could be exploring rather than the same generic playing it safe crap or meaningless political crap. If politics is in the story and it drives the plot and characters forward in a organic way then I say yes. One of my favourite movies is the Power of one, it deals with racism, discrimination, equality and integrity in mature manner. I also love the fact that it has a great message about doing what's right and helping people in need. If you haven't seen the Power of one I highly recommend it.

With respect to GTA, I think it's fair to speculate if it's going downhill. Some ppl are definitely taking it too far, but it's not a guaranteed good game either. They've (Rockstar) retroactively screwed around with GTA already to add takes on social issues, which doesn't really work in a game where you are literally a serial killer criminal.
Like someone joking about a drag queen, or adding a "cops and crooks" game mode, or something is NOT worse than shooting and robbing a civilian.
The other most recent time Actman tried to do another "hot takes" video like this where he ended up promoting starfield, a game which turned out to be trash.

Honestly i mostly want rockstar to grow some balls, GTA 5 felt kinda tame in comparison to their previous titles , Especially on the social commentary stuff, I really hope they also make the story much more serious compared to GTA 5, something like GTA 4 would be awesome

It's hilarious to try to call out GTA on this. Tommy Vercetti from Vice City and Toni Cipriani from Liberty City Stories are Italian. CJ from San Andreas is African-american. Victor from Vice City Stories and Luis from The Ballad of Gay Tony are Dominican-American. Niko from GTA4 is Serbian. I've probably missed a few there, but white protagonists are actually the exception, not the rule.
Rockstar's just doing what they usually do with GTA protags. They try to make a good one that fits the setting. Usually, they do a pretty good job of it.

As for my example, you're right. I could have explained that better.
Over the years I've seen complaints over diversity in games held up under the mask of "realism". You can see examples of this in this very video. It's "unrealistic" for a woman to live a GTA style life of crime. It's "unrealistic" to have this many black people in this given setting, etc.
Listening to such "complaints" over the years I noticed how one sided the cry for realism is from people like this. Namely, it's never aimed at a male protagonist.
If the playable character is a man, he's allowed to be practically a superhero. Yet when it's a women the role suddenly has to be grounded, she can't be on par to her male counterpart. She has to have clear limitations, she has to struggle more, she has to be weaker.
So when hearing people complain about women or too many non-white people, etc, in a video game I roll my eyes because these are video games. By their very nature they're unrealistic. So the whole "realism" issue just becomes a shallow mask to hide their own hatred for a particular group.
But like I said, if they can explain in a rational manner why a woman lead and some extra black people in a fictional setting is bad, then I'm all ears. It's been years and I'm still waiting...
As a white Guy, that was a great video, the moments with the black guy were pretty tiresome but they were short enough to not ruin thé video too much for me ! :)

I agree with you in theory on the parenting portion (I'm roughly 12 minutes into your vid). However, if any of my kids said "Hey mom, get your husband in line", I would have picked up the console, and calmly walked into my closet, locked the door, and inform my kid they didn't have to write the book report anymore. Then I would thank them for the new console they just 'gifted' me. If my kid would say the same thing to my wife, he wouldn't get off so easy.

Moral crusaders raging about GTA has always been a better advertisement for the franchise than anything Rockstar could ever create themselves.
I will say, I love the gadget stuff that Musk posts on Twitter buuuuut yeah I don't listen to anything else he says cause he crazy. GTA is a fantastic series.
I have one issue w/ this video - Actman thinks he's got Tim in this big gotcha moment when Tim seems to be telling his audience to just stop it w/ the bs. That if any of it were actually true he'd be right there screaming about it from the roof tops - that if it were true, he has financial motivation to report it.
I do think playable female characters always fall into one of three generic stereotypes. The bleeding heart healer, the stealthy agile operator or the bad bitch. You can do a strong female character right, but how many times can you literally just describe that character as a 5'2" 100lbs latina with anger issues? How many times can you say, "She experienced trauma as a kid and overcame it," and that is literally all of the character development she receives? I absolutely love Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2 and those things describe her.... but she is so much more. She's on the very edge of being dangerously deranged, but her delusion is the only thing that allowed her to survive in such a fucked up world. She still knows the difference between what's real and what's not, what's right and what's wrong, but she doesn't have the tools to process losing Roland without losing herself. So here you have this little badass who can look the person who got her parents killed dead in the eyes without blinking and now she's showing her weakness and screaming for help in a way only a little kid can. For just one moment you get to see the little girl who is terrified that she might have lost the last thing that was holding her entire world together and it's completely heart breaking.
Men can tell an entire story without ever looking at you or trying to say a word. Just looking at how a guy physically reacts to things and people around them will give you a pretty detailed view of their personality. One example is that a lot of tall guys naturally hunch over so they don't draw as much attention. There's a Kevin Durant meme that shows that to an extreme.
Hell, I think that fake story would be a really big deal if it was true bc Rockstar has a way of subverting expectations so thoroughly that they go out of their way to create that sort of outrage just so that they can make those types of people look like complete idiots. Either way, that would end up being a massive story where they get people to make themselves look stupid yet again or they may have become yet another studio that has traded the plot for virtue signaling. Identity isn't something that is immediately relevant in Rockstar games. Most of them tend to be the story of the character trying to figure out their own identity. In RDR2, Arthur is trying to figure out if he's the monster he believes he's become or the strong, reliable and good hearted man other people believe him to be. From there, he tries to live up to being that person other people see in him while coming to terms with the wrongs he has inflicted on others. In that regard, portraying a trans main character is something that would be right up Rockstars wheelhouse. I just don't believe they would do it bc they never really take what I would consider political stances. They go out of their way to make fun of people who try to make everything political regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum. And that's a topic that immediately becomes extremely political on several different fronts.
Change female to male and your comment still makes sense. You'd be naive to think there arent hundreds of games with male main characters that are pretty much the same.
One thing you pointed out is how race-swapping isn't inherently bad, but when woke people do it to signal how progressive they are and ignore writing a good character/story, it does hurt the franchises affected. (And is one of the reasons most people hate "For a modern audience" and the increased censorship)

GTA is many things. And Woke ain't one of them.
People seem to think that women shouldn't have any agency in stories now because they fear it may undermine the male characters. That's a valid concern, and something we've seen in most of the woke pieces of media in the world, especially Marvel.
But it's gotten to them so badly that even if the playing fields are even, all people, no matter what gender sexuality or other trait, are on equal footing, people say it's woke.

I mean the wife was partly at fault here, she undermined her husband's authority in front of the son by contradicting the decision that he should turn off the game. If he didnt do that then the child would always not listen to him and go to the mother to contradict any decision he made in the future.
The game devs came out in interviews and said that they wanted to "stop fratboy culture" and remove "transphobic" content from the games, they also mentioned that they no longer want to "punch down" in their games.

Hey, I agree with that commercial Dad. I grew up being beat with a belt when I was a little shit and didn't listen to my parents, kids these days have it way too easy and get bent out of shape when their phones are taken away. Plus, how do we know that father hadn't already tied those things in the past? Clearly this was a growing issue, and this was the only option left that did not involve knocking the kid out of his chair with a backhand. His last father clearly didn't teach him any respect, and his mother clearly doesn't care about her son's future either.
Look it might seem justified to you that your parents hit you but just think for a minute. If a child is old enough to reason with, reasoning of the best course of action because hitting a kid will probably enrage them and they won't listen. if the child is too young to reason with, they won't understand the reasoning behind why you're hitting them. It's a lose-lose scenario.
