I know and love every inch of these redblock engines. These late model turbo iterations are some of the best, simplest, easiest to maintain and tune, most reliable motors ever made. I've owned seven Redblock cars over the years with a combined mileage of well over 1,000,000, and have never, ever been let down by any of them. Always got me to my destination and did 40k plus a year in exchange for just fuel, an oil and filter every 5000 miles or so and a set of plugs twice a year. I currently drive a mint 2.3 turbo petrol estate with 85k on it (identical to the one in this video, but in MUCH better condition!) And 2.4 TDIC diesel estate which is mechanically superb at 280k, but is awaiting a respray due to extensive sun damage to the lacquer over the years. Both drive beautifully. Just the best cars.
I can't understand how someone who owns one of these trusty Volvos from the late 80s and 90s can leave them to die. These era Volvos are like labrador dogs, trusty, happy and always giving back if you treat them well.
When you use it, it stays useful and beautiful. But if you leave it quiet in oblivion, it withers and dies. This is a lesson of life: don't stop loving or your heart will be a Volvo forgotten in the backyard...

Ive had an 850, 244, 240 very clean wagon with 120k miles, 245 wagon year -79 which had holset hx35 super turbo rebuild chassis with adjustable coils and 300hp. When i first drove my moms 850 wagon just when i get my licence i was instatly in love. Volvo has been allways very good to drive and so damn trustable. Maybe i get my first 740 soon. My parents had an 740 limousine when i was kid and it was awesome.
This is an ideal FAMILY VEHICLE, for nice long drives in the countryside with all the goodies including the family dog, hitting the road early on a SATURDAY MORNING !
You are right, because the new generation Volvos are the same as other European cars, forget about new Volvos, I had four deferent Volvos during last 20 years, I know well about this brand, new Volvos are faster and fancier, that's it, they are not as good and as sturdy as bullet proof old ones.
@@Ebbsilen Yeah it hurts.. seeing Swedes or Americans put big turbos on stock blocks because muh undestroyable engine and then complain when it blows.. Then again we do the same here to VW's, Mercedes' etc. while in other countries these cars are sought after and expensive.
Help me with a thing...a friend of mine bought a bmw e46 from sweden and had a 220V snuff in his car...for what is the snuff?, and is it functional? cause his is not
Sitting on wet grass, in a puddle, the cancer is right through it. Insane amount of work to restore, the body. I have three 97's, it's enough keeping them, looking good, without the rust.
Lol did you come to get some break pads? I'm not sure what was the point of taking the brakes apart and putting them together. I thought you will try to start and drive it :D
Looks sad to me. I've got a -87 model and it no ways is in that bad cond. It's still drivin well with almost no rust anywhere and i even live in goddamn Finland where the winters are extreme.
They use to be good my 3 years old volvo have over heat issue all cooling was vanishing after engine start, reapear after switch off engine No mechanic from UK was able to fix it ,I returned it to leasing

@@DrumToTheBassWoop of course they do
After all that excitement and close-ups of interesting parts, I felt sure that we'd get to hear the dream machine running but no such luck :-(
Volvo 940 с этим двигателем - одна из последних,где ДВС установлен правильно,продольно.

Poor Volvo, in such a condition, this Vovols are soo beautiful and trusty! I love Volvo and it hurts me to see this one.
Уже в 97году щведы делали легендарные машины,а в Союзе только-только приступали к выпуску 2110х
Man, I hated having to work on machinery in weather like that.
thats so sad. with so much accessories and its just sitting and rotting away
people destroy these thing on purpose here
RifleRud I met a man with a 240 wagon turbo 5 speed with 77k miles just rotting away in his back yard.
Молодцы.
Best car from Sweden the volvo 940
Trust me. It will start!
Engine start and test drive ?
Save this Volvo
Tom the raton 77 I think it’s better to salvage this car. There are many parts which can be used in better preserved Volvo‘s...
It will be a waste of money
@@supertimmy2003 you won't get parts for them, hard enough to get parts on modern volvos then trying to get them for this
With the rare m90 gearbox aswell. Very nice
Is the m90 rare? I got like 4 sitting in the garage rn lol
What kinda maniac leaves a friggin *TURBO* 940 to sit!?
Those things are worth gold if they're somewhat well maintained where i live.
2.3 turbo hell yeah
I finally donated my 1998 Volvo V90 wagon, it sat in the garage for 5 years. I got a nice tax write off...
Le tu viste que arrancar y de volverle la vida . Era lo que todos esperábamos..

Where do you keep finding these cars? 😀. What happens to them? Some need to be rescued!
what engine does it have?
Question what does he do with all cars when he starts them?
I think, when they are in a good condition, he will sell it to new owners, some of them are going to the junkyard or he will keep it.
