This. Game. Changed. Everything. I remember my buddy got it first. He got it for Christmas. Called me on the phone, and told me about it. It was the first game that actually KEPT STATS. No game before it had actually allowed you to play a season, keeping actual stats along the way. (PPG leaders, AST leaders, 3PM, etc.) That was literally the most awesome thing to ever happen on a sports game, up until then, for us. Fantastic memories.

Still love this game...Even after all these years. In fact, it's one of my favorite games on the NES (along with Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Tecmo Bowl, Tecmo Super Bowl, TMNT II - The Arcade Game, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Double Dragon II - The Revenge, Double Dribble and others). I have the physical copy, in addition to it being modded into my NES Mini because it is soo good!

I remember playing this game at my friends house. He was using the Bulls in season mode. He told me he didn't care if I won, just not to foul Jordan. Well, I fouled him. Plus I broke his wrist. My friend went into a rage and kicked me out of his house.
My father bought this game as a gift for me in 1997. I was 10 years old and we played this with my friends all summer vacation. My chest ached while watching the starting animation. I understand that child is dead. How my time passed, it seemed never to pass in those ages.

Getting three pointers in this game isn't as easy as in NBA Jam. Good job on getting the threes with John Starks, my favorite player from the 90's Knicks even though I'm a lifelong Bulls fan.
@@LightStreak567 There's an exploit where if you shoot from a spot at the top of the key with a good shooter you make it every time. Once you found the spot and if your team had a shooter like that you'd rain in 3's the whole game and put up over a hundred points with one player no problem.
I had liked this video i dont know im here again. I used to play this game hours and hours. M.J., Pippen legend team was in Chicago Bulls.. Jazz also had Malone brothers. This game was awesome. I remember players in team could get injury too. Tactics, you can even choose team shooters etc... How they programmed it in those just tetris game times ?
NES had THE BEST selection of games both in terms of variety and so fun and entertaining ....Today's consoles like PS4, XBOX, 360 and XBOX ONE kicks out games which are glitchy and full of bugs along with the fact the PS4, XBOX 360, and XBOX One games are weak when it comes to the depth like they make the games today where all the focus is just all about graphics....NES on the other hand tended to be focus on the game storylines and putting out complete games that didn't have bugs and glitches. Sure NES had pretty bare bones graphics but the tradeoff is the games played without glitches and the games had deeper storylines and were loads of fun. And since the "miniature NES classic console" was released everybody has access to the games again. Best gaming console ever. Today its all about graphics are also glitchy and buggy and also little depth and storylines plus overall depth. NESwas and still is the best ever! The miniature NES classic brought the games back (before that a small portion of the 800+ was available for purchase and download (with the WII using WII points and then they shut it down earlier this year however there is the NES classic loaded with a bunch of the original NES games...Awesome!

I can not think of a basketball game, which was similar to this one. The only detail I remember, when you shoot the three, magnify the image. I was always a player with blue hair shoot threes, and the names of clubs and players were not right. If you win a tournament, there would be a girl and the player with blue hair would be declared the best player. Game was a Chinese copy of the Sega Mega Drive 2 and the Super Nintendo.
Am I only one who noticed the HUGE bug in this game where it loses the season stats and everything each time you power the console off? I enjoyed the game itself enough - but all the extra stat stuff was what games like Tecmo Bowl extra cool... I tried everything on the basketball game, including different copies of the game and different consoles. I also remember that pace of scoring was very off compared to the actual time a game was played, which would really skew the un-savable stats... lol

best nba ever. I played this game in 1995. An i was fan Bulls and Jordan, but played for Charlotte Chornets.
I played this in 2002, i was always behind others.
I remember subbing in the best shooter at the free throw line and Pete Chillcuts and Craig Hodges 99 shooting rating.
