- It's time for the C5 Corvette to get its first upgrade! The Corvette is amazing as it is, but the taillights look dated and faded. These LED halo tail lights are a fantastic upgrade to the look and safety of the Corvette. Today we install Sharp Light Innovations LED Halo Tail Lights. Special thanks to the President of Sharp Light Innovations for sending me these LED Halo Tail Lights! You can check them out here; sharplightinnovations.com/sho...

You're becoming one of my favorite car CZcamsrs. Really looking forward to all that you do with your C5 and future vehicles.
Thank you very much for saying that, Joshua! I really appreciate you saying that!
It is very hard to find channels where Modifications for those beautiful cars are described in detail! Most videos are older than 10 years. I'm glad you bought your C5. Greetings from Germany.
Thanks for the video, looks awesome !
I just ordered a set for my C5.... Thanks for the video
Best exterior mod for this vette? Take it back to quad exhaust tips.
Exactly! No clue why people ever go to just dual
I think he bought it that way. He charges to a better exhaust in a later video.
Na the stock quad exhaust sucks. I put Borla high flow mufflers with two 4 inch tips on my C5 Z06. Sounds better and looks better.
Looks really good, man. A friend of mine upgraded to the LED foglamps and side markers on his C5. Many times brighter and more effective. He's been looking for a set of LED tail lights. I'll be showing this vid to him tomorrow.
I'm sooooo glad for running into this clip! I'm a newbie in the Corvette Community......made the leap & bought my first 2002 C5 open air 2 top....white with torch red interior. 11,000 miles. Mint Condition....it still has that new car smell. I just bought it in July, it's completely stock..... I'm going to make my first mod. I only want to do little things here & there, nothing crazy. I think this is a good start for a first mod....I can't wait to install these....Thank you!
Welcome to the Vette community! Thanks for watching, appreciate the support!
@@DriveHub Thank you, great info & looks like an easy install I'll do myself. Do you have any suggestions on temporary mods? My dad passed away in March & I bought the car in July.....he was a crazy fan for NE Huskers, even though they can't pull a team together & go after the Nat'l Champs. Coaches & staff keep getting fired....no stability. Anyway, kind of took the wrong fork in the road with my dissertation here. I just want to make some subtle changes without it being permanent. If I ever do sell it, the next person might not appreciate any kind of Husker paraphernalia, so I have to be able to remove anything without damage. Floor mats, yes on order.....but looking for something really unique. Thank you.
Very nice! Mine should be in this week...
I need a set of these ASAP!
Excellent tutorial. You are correct, those transform the C5 rear.
Wow,your Corvette looks cool!!😎Love it!
I have my Corvette since 1995 and changed the look of my taillights just for $25:)
Halo light mod looks great 😎. Really freshens up the rear of the car. Wish i could get a C5 for the equivalent of $10k in the UK. Saw one at a car show in the summer, loved it!
Now im going to do these mods on my c5z thanks 😊
That made a huge difference!
I have a set of Eagle Eyes in my C6 and thing that an LED upgrade is one of the best things you can do for these cars. You are lower than a lot of traffic and my view is that anything that makes you more visible is worth the effort (minimal) and expense (not so cheap). Looking good is the side benefit!
I agree. The taillights make a night/day difference. Just need some coilovers on that bad boy.
They look great. Nice mod
Can you get these lights pre tented? Or would it be something you have to do on your own? Love the lights!
While you're in there I recommend also spacing the lights out farther than they are from the factory. The less-deep recess also looks more modern IMO. Previous owner of mine did this to the factory lights and I carried it over when I did the LED halo upgrade. I believe he just used some hardware store nylon bushings and then added weather stripping material around the periphery so it's fully supported.
I also added an auto-flash module (whatever they're called) that flashes the lights a couple times when you first apply the brake. Wouldn't call that a necessity but maybe it'll prevent a rear-ending someday.
The hazzard / indicators are flashing quicker because you need to either replace the flasher with the an LED flasher or solder in the proper resistances to your indicator wire. LED pulls a lot les electricity from the system, but your factory set up is made for the incandescent light bulbs.
I got these for my 98 vette. How did you fix the hyper flash when you turn on turn signals?
The correct Torx size is T15, not T45. I got a set of black gaskets from Corvette Mods in Ft. Worth for about $20 for the set of four.
fantastic!!
My dad has those exact lights on his white c5 Corvette with 18,000 miles 🔥🇺🇸🤟🏽🔧💯
awesome car man! I am fortunate enough to drive a c5 50th anniversary at 19 years old and i absolutely love mine. Drive yours well man looks great.
I drive the same car but I'm 20
Matthew Petty yooo nice Matthew, Honestly for its age it’s a pretty youthful looking vehicle, And runs like a charm! Good for you man
@@masonintrater Thanks man she's got 90k on her now. I put like 40k miles on the car since I bought it and I daily it.
Matthew Petty bro that’s hilarious I do the same thing, I got mine at 39k which wasn’t bad, but have to daily it because here in Canada the summers are short and gotta put her to use , plus a great chick magnet 🤪, enjoy it bro
I think you should do general car reviews too brother...you have the aura, voice, and transparency for it. I honestly believe your channel would blow up if you did.
Hey, thanks so much for saying that man! I actually do lots of car reviews on my channel, you can check them out here; czcams.com/play/PLJm29FHiwpYN_2w4bKqDfTE90BMJvQO7d.html
Playing with a C5 body is so much fun. Rear lights mod is a 5mins job as You said. But if You go to drivetrain You are not so happy about chevy engineering anymore :D
Why is that? Extremely easy to work on other than being low to the ground. If the drivetrain sucks why the hell it THE MOST widely used drivetrain in any type of
Aftermarket build/engine swap/hot rod etc etc?
Yea those look good.
What’s funny, is that soon enough, a better lighting option will arrive and then you’ll have to say, “I gotta update these OG LEDs bc they look like Tesla himself installed these taillights!”
🤣😂🤣
Just you wait until I find a manual C5 under $10 grand, then I shall copy some of your mods good sir!
I just picked one up for 7k 150k miles though
UnorthodoxMasterOfGames I got a C5 FRC 6-speed 134k Miles, $6800
Ronnie Jr What state are you in if you don’t mind me asking? I’m in Virginia and I am struggling to find them under $12K.
Cry Baby Wow a fixed roof coupe for that cheap? Awesome! If it’s not too weird for a stranger on CZcams (me) to be asking, could you post a video of your Vette? And congrats on the purchase
UnorthodoxMasterOfGames I live in Colorado but went to Oklahoma to get the car. It was a fun ride back haha.
The reason they blink faster is because of the power distribution between all the lights. More power is being distributed to the halogen blinkers in the front and less to the rest since LED's consume less power, so the car is making the blinkers blink fast because it thinks that a blinker light is burnt out. It's called hyper flash. There's actually a special harness you can buy that gets installed behind the panel under your ignition switch. Couple of screws pop off and the panel comes off pretty easy, harness just goes in-between the original harness in place, it's an easy install. I do recommend picking this up. Hyper flash has the potential to burn out your halogens much quicker.
Where did you get the led tail lights from I tried to look for those they only have them for the C6?
I went to the link and the have different options. Did you get the halo only option?
I was all for it till I see how ya wire up to the fuse panel , not a fan of loose wiring hanging out like that, but the lights r nice!
I like the original tail lights, but would change the front running lights as advertised .
i thought the quick flashing on the blinker was kinda dope.
I have a 2000 and the rear lights don’t turn on at night but When I break they do also the dash doesn’t turn on at night ????
Who knows where I can buy the harness separately? I have the lights but it didn’t come with the harness.
I like the two pipes. The four looks like too much!
Nice #ChevyGang
Idk I like the oem taillights. I just put some red led bulbs in mine and the quick flash eliminator and they look great.
Seen that, it's the way to go for sure. How did you eliminate the quick flash though?
@@drewmorg. there are a bunch of c5 specific hyper flash eliminator harnesses out there that are plug and play. You just plug them into the stock flasher relay and you're golden
@@james5274 Awesome thanks. I did some LED's on my sportbike once and the lights flashed too quickly and I did not like it.
Get those windows tinted and that bad boy will look perfect!
Yea around $300 just for the rear. That is one piece of course to do it right.
Oh, I thought this was going to be exciting watching you have to take the whole rear end apart just to put in the new lights. I guess the engineers at GM are not as demented as I expected. Lol
the same don't go for the flashers on the front
@@sspp3065 What a pain in the ass those are to change..
Surprised it didn't come with the center light. How much?
The center light is already LED from factory. These lights are $360!
I need these on my life haha. How much bud and we're can I grab them
Justin Tavella I’ve got these on my vette, no less then 250-300 bucks for these.

Wish they had a full circular diffused lens like C6, not a fan of the "burger" edge patterns
I'm really not a big fan of L E D..Does look good on your C5..Just when they burn out..It looks Terrible..I put them on my Harley and after a month..a bunch of little bulbs burned out on difdent sides of fixtures..and it didn't look good.
I installed a set of European Taillights(Amber) on my 1987 C4..There Different(I like the look)Kinda rare to find in the States...Good Video Guy 👍
Not too keen on making lighting changes that could burn up wiring and end up with no lights at all. Wiring harness issues could leave me with a car I can’t get fixed or drive at all.😬Honestly I’ve had my 2004 since it was a year old and haven’t even changed a bulb as of 2021 . I take the idea that if it’s not broke why fix it. I really don’t see enough difference to make trouble. Wiring issues that are created can be very expensive to chase down.😬
You want a more modern Vette why don’t you buy one?
T-45 torx ??? I think you meant T-15 didn’t you...
Man you need to lower that thing.
I don’t like the 2 Tailpipe exhaust look on this C5. I would never consider it on mine. 4 Tail pipes coming out looks best.
I love the twin Borla pipes on my coupe. An uncluttered and obvious mod on a pretty mag red car that needed some attitude.
Yep I did Borlas too on my C5 Z06. Looks better and sounds way better.
Halo lights = $360.
360 bucks for tail lights? ouch
My thoughts eactly. $ better spent on a short shifter
I can see $360! A set of 4. $360 each? Not for my c5. Newer rims money better spent
Someone has a monopoly on those tail lights
@@mjphoto45 360 for a set of 4 not apiece
I personally like my C5 stock tail lights over the led
I'd litererally design my own lights before installing these. They look like a sad rip off of the c6's awesome circular halos. The oval design combined with the cut out for the screw is god aweful looking to me
Factory tail lights look better
