    A friend bought a new truck which came equipped with an unnecessary snowboard rack but it didn't come with the key for same. So I brought over my Covert Companion and got ready to unlock between four and six locks on it. The friend wanted to watch but honestly, I'd consider myself a newb at this and have only watched the videos. Within five minutes I had picked all four of the necessary locks using a raking technique. Thanks.

      And that my friend is why you install motion sensor cameras no bigger than a silver dollar that will send you a text alert immediately there's no such thing as too much security a guy broke into a TV news reporter house on Sunday night while she was out with dinner and Friends when she got back home she was tired and she locked her door now here's the problem she didn't pay attention her two little dogs would know where to be found and she shook it off as you know whatever Lucy went to sleep somebody was in the bed but it was too late for her to react all she knows is a big black guy was in her bed covering her mouth unzipping his pants because she knew what was going to happen next her being a white woman he been a black man she's going to get f***** she tried to resist but all that did was gotten her beaten severely the guy with ballistic because you put up a fight didn't want to give it up she should have known that he was the aggressor and he was determined to have none consensual sex with her one way or the other it's sad it's very sad he beat her to death had she not resisted I honestly believe that she he would have let her live but he was like a conquering army he wanted his spoils of War he had already done that to a previous woman and he let her live. The moral of the story is don't think that your home is your Castle second of all put a f****** alarm in your apartment or whatever that's the moral of that story that house that she rented it's been torn down now and made it into a memorial Park because there was no way the landlord could rent it out to somebody else because most people are not f***** up about moving to a house and which somebody violently died they need somewhere to stay and they are living there in a minute. I saw a couple moving to a house that was full of cockroaches all over the damn place I went by one day to look at it and saw the roaches crawling around and then when I walked through there again at night time somebody done moved in. So you see my friend most people don't give a f*** her organs were donated I'm pretty sure they kept private how these organs became available in a very violent fashion

    The ordering of the tools is different from LPL's assembly video, and that triggers my OCD a little but it's also reassuring to see that the ordering doesn't really matter. I might play around with the ordering because currently my companion jiggles a bit.
    It would be nice at the beginning, while you're introducing the tools 1.2.3.4.5, to also have a number edited onto the video showing the corresponding tool.

    I don't know that it matters so much for the covert companion based on the typical use case for it but these and the Genesis picks with handles seem to bend and stay bent easily compared to the same thickness sparrows and peterson picks. I'm not sure if the steel isn't as good or if maybe the shaping is tempering it. Laser, EDM and even machining can sometimes heat parts enough to ruin hardening done ahead of time; but, I don't know if that's the issue here. I've had some luck heat treating the Genesis set with the handles using a small butane torch (enough to extend the usaility quite a bit) but it's tricky controlling the temperature of something so small. Even when I manage a nice consistent straw color they still seems to bend and stay bent when other picks don't. It could be more about springiness than hardness which would be more about the type of steel, I think. I should mention that this is my subjective, inexpert assessment. If I had a strain guage or whatever and was flush enough to not sweat sacrificing a few new picks I'd try to quantify the difference. I'd say for the Genesis set with the handles, it's a bit of a problem as the new picker, especially, is going to abuse them pretty badly and sparrows picks would probably stand up to that a lot better for a similar price.

    • @dm4800
      @dm4800 Před rokem +5

    I finally bought one, Ive been watching LPL for years and have been so intrigued with picking lock. I got it all set up and pin picked a rifle cable lock today as my first lock picked, i picked a few times and now i am already down what seems like an addictive habit of trying to pick eveything in my house. My wife’s journal has no secrets now!! I still know nothing at all about picking locks compared to LPL or others on youtube, but i highly recommend buying either this set or another one from covert. My covert companion just arrived, I do like the small form factor, but maybe starting out the hobby I would have been best to go for a full size set, using the picks can be difficult as naturally they want to fold over on your fingers so the companion it’s self dose not act like a handle you can push up on, locking mechanism would be great.

    Almost every lock I have to pick is behind a box meant to make cutting the lock difficult without also cutting through the steel protecting the lock. This means I have to kneel down and look up at the lock and work with my hands in a tight approximately 5” x 7” area so there isn’t much freedom to work. I don’t know if I’ll be able to single pin pick with this tool in those specific scenarios but I would bet one of the wave rakes or comb picks or the knife tool would open most of the locks I encounter.

    • @someguy3861
      @someguy3861 Před 3 měsíci

      I suggest the Riv-Pick in that case. Longer, better feedback and it just has two hooks and two rakes. The knife tool can usually be subbed for a shallow hook anyway.

    i look at that tool by 'Covert Instruments', and think; that's gotta be some very thin sheet-metal, that bends, and ruins very quickly. i've seen it in poorly made lock-picking tools. you can't have that many tools on a single item, and expect the sheet metal not to be thin. therefore, i would conclude, that tool isn't worth owning at all. you can't dispel the logic here. you can obfuscate and deny, but that doesn't solve the issue of quality.

      It must be rough, feeling the need to posture like this 😆 Keep practising and hopefully you'll develop the finesse required to use delicate tools.
      The tools are robust where they should be (e.g. the comb picks) and flexible where they shouldn't (e.g. the utility shim) and it's a very satisfying bit of kit in my experience so far, especially with the expansion kit to add tensioners.

      I look at your post and shake my head, have you looked at a Swiss Army Knife, your logic dictates you cannot have that many tools on a single item. Ergo the Swiss Army Knife is made of flimsy sheet metal. As the saying goes, looks can be deceiving. All you are doing is looking. Do you know the length, thickness, or width of the item? Have you actually seen the construction Have you actually seen the item? Have you read any of the reviews about this item? Have you watched the video of the LASER cutting out the individual tools in this item, if not go to czcams.com/video/j4ZpXCTSsCg/video.html at the end of the cutting part of the video you can see the material has the letters AMS printed on it, AMS is a materials Standard specified by the SAE. Which precludes it from being thin sheet metal. So you have no factual proof or evidence that
      1. you cannot have that many tools on a single item. 2. The tools are made of flimsy sheet metal.
      You have only your opinion based on what you have seen in poorly made lockpicking tools. I do not know how long you have been following the lockpickinglawyer, and in all honesty, do you think for even a second he would produce an inferior product. Therefore I conclude that your knowledge of the item in question is considered insufficient to pronounce judgement on this item. In conclusion, I will quote you, "you can't dispel the logic here. you can obfuscate and deny, but that doesn't solve the issue of quality." In this instance, quality refers to your unsubstantiated statement.

    $68 to have this tiny piece shipped to Australia. Get stuffed. One star. Wouldn't buy.

      Travis,
      This is due to the USPS shutting off all forms of shipping to Australia aside from Priority Mail Express International due to COVID-19. We are working on getting separate carriers set up for better international service and rates.

      They are not responsible for the high shipping rates, buy locally but don't trash these sellers because of the shipping charges. I just passed on an item that would have been shipped to me in the US from Australia because of the shipping rates and the time it would have taken to get it, not the sellers fault.

      How is this the seller's fault? Should be telling the USPS to "get stuffed," and apply the blame to the correct organization.
