- The front and rear engine mounts on the Volvo XC90 are vacuum mounts, with the rear being a particularly tricky one to do.
In this video, I removed and replace both mounts and the vacuum hose on my 2005 Volvo XC90 D5

Thanks a lot. Your video made me do the job within an hour. Yes the space is very limited especially on the rear mounting but it's very doable with your help.
Glad it helped. It's one of those jobs that is spoken of as a complete nightmare - but if you approach it methodically, it's actually not a lot of fuss at all.
Certainly with FWD models, too - it's the prop and angle gear that make it hard on the XC90, due to space issues (and the DPF etc. in later models)
Great job, nicely done! Thanks for all the info you provided!💯
Excellent! Thank you.
I've done the front, side, gearbox and top mount this lunch. I gave the rear a miss for a bit as I thought I'd attack that on its on on a separate day. I've had a horror engine mount job before on my mercedes M275 engine as the access is just non existent.
The metal ring on mine is coming off too, but the vacuum is still holding when I suck on it.
Hi, are both motor mounts bottom front and rear the same or identical? I would appreciate the answer.
Are both motor mounts the identical?
thank you!!
Hi, what does it mean when the wire around the motor lower rear and front motor mount is loose?
Did your brakes seems hard to step on when you had the leak? And better after changing?
Must be a fairly old XC90. My 2012 is far more limited for space at all at the rear engine mount. The electric turbo control system and the dpf pipes/brackets and sensor are all in the way. Seems much more crammed from beneath too.
I'm the same did u manage to get yours done 2012 d5 200bhp
@@douglaswallace7765 No, fortunately, my mounts were ok. I noticed the lack of space to get to them whilst checking them out doing some diagnostic testing on a suspected vacuum leak.
I replaced all my mounts apart from the rear 1 at the moment and there is less vibration I feel
Does anyone know if the mounts are the interchangeable between the petrol and diesel engine models? I can only find the petrol engine mounts online :(
Could you tell me how you removed the rear engine mount once it was disassembled? I took it apart but couldn't get it outside. The only way seemed to be between the cardan and the steering box. but it didn't come out. Thanks
DO you think its worth/easy to change the front sway bar bushings while in there?
Are corteco mounts working fine, because there are very mixed information. Thank you.
What diameter are the new pipes?
From memory, I think it was this stuff that I had left over from another project: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391514668063
So 3mm I.D.
thank you
