    Easy and quick diagnosis using a cheap but effective vacuum tester.
    Leaking mounts can cause loss of power or boost and limp mode and increase engine vibration at idle.

      8 years later Mine IS nowadays on 182.000 and same problem 😅, one question, when you say vacuum you mean negative pressure right?, i am still learning english, and how they interact with the boost controller?, i got a limp mode trigered the other day accelerating at the hightway, i think It was because of one of this two cause It trigered bost controll valve + cps Signal too high which i dont know about yet i checked timing and it 's alright, thanks a mill beforehand i am watching many videos of you and other lad named spanner to keep Up with the s60🔝

      Whilst you're waiting for your pump, see my latest video which shows a temporary fix if your mounts are knackered and you can use the same trick to see if it helps cure your boost loss.

    Great vid Rob. I have a S60 D5 2.4 TD which splutters and judders at low revs (it’s fine after 2000 revs) had numerous diagnostics done and every time I get the same result, no fault codes so not sure what the fault is. Thus my question, could this be a vacuum issue?

    • @Gasthauz
      @Gasthauz Před 4 lety

      Jay Southall Hello Jay, did you get the low rev sputtering sorted? I just bought a 2.4 D5 and the whirl flaps (of is it swirl flaps, can never remember) is shot. I understand they augment low rev operation. Did you get those checked?

    What is the solution to these vacuum assist mounts. I have these mount installed in my 08 buick enclave which started vibration at lower speed and it appears the mechanic crushed the front line while installing condensing unit. Can i replace all three with after market that does not use vacuum?

    Hi Rob, I have the same noise problem. I have changed the 5 engine mounts (D5 185hp) and my car continues to vibrate and make the noise. Both engine mounts (corteco) have vacuum ok. What else should I check?

  • @gasgiant7122
    @gasgiant7122 Před 4 lety

    Great video tutorial Si, but why do the engine mounts need to be “vacuumed” ? Could you blank the pipe off and fill the mount with silicone or something else, just can’t get my head around as to why they designed them like this?

    • @sirobb
      @sirobb  Před 4 lety

      This style of mount provides additional damping for the D5 although it isn't used on every car model and D5 version.
      Every type of mount deteriorates and needs changing at some point so there's no real difference.
