The first 5 minutes of the series and it’s already 100x better than the movie lmao
Not a high bar tbh, even dragon ball evolution is better
Earthbender in Last Airbender Movie: It takes 7 guys to do the dance of moving one rock 🪨
Earthbender in Netflix's Avatar: Fights like their Animated Counterpart.👌
@.lumapak5397 The earthbending in the opening scene was mid compared to what we see of Bumi
@@BrysonRyennThat earthbender’s skill is probably mid compared to boomi’s skill, so its fine lol
@@BrysonRyennOf course, Bumi has been a master for nearly 100 years
22:25 Dante Bosco (2005 voice actor for Zuko) actually told Dallas James Lui (2024 Zuko) to make Zuko his own character and give his own portrayal. As the episodes progress you can feel the hints of 2005 Zuko in 2024 Zukos performance
The reason why zuko says, "It can't be." It's because at this point , they thought that the avatar died during the attack on the airbenders, so it wouldn't be an airbender. He's just surprised that he's an airbender.
In the cartoon Zuko expected him to be old, but that never made sense to me. Wouldn't everyone assume the airbender avatar was killed in the genocide? Why would Zuko expect that avatar to still be alive?
That's why I think Yue was supposed to be the next water avatar, the avatar spirit wasn't their to strengthen her weaker body, which was why the moon spirit filled that void with her own strength.
It's crazy that people are expecting this to be a shot for shot adaptation. This is actual pretty good for what it is, especially when you look at other live action adaptations.
Seriously, i dont think they could it done it better, is a very well done adaptation
Yeah it's crazy people would want the story they fell in love with to be presented the same way in this version. Bonkers. Absolutely bonkers.
@@Buggy_D_Yonko I mean, that's how it usually is with some minor changes and deviations. When I watched the first episode and saw some differences I was like "Great show, way better than the movie....but I don't remember seeing this in the cartoon" and I was slightly bummed about it. But even though they did their own thing different from the original, they did it great.
Agreed of course it's normal to be caught off guard by some things and compare it to the original, but i reactor said it perfectly. " if you go in wanting to find flaws, that's what you're going to find"
No one's expecting it to be 1-to-1. What we're expecting is for them to UNDERSTAND THE HEART OF THE SHOW. Clearly, due to them omitting or changing things for no reason & making them less impactful, they DON'T.
Ngl bro the first episode legit made me cry, idk what it was I was super high and i had such low expectations when I watched it and the first scene happened I just got overwhelmed by how good everything looked and how fire they made the cgi look, shit made me feel like a kid with how excited I got

Aang is so adorable and cute, the actor Gordon Cormier really captured the essence of the character, kudos to the cast and crew for show love and dedication to this live action series, and be thankful that this is not made by Disney Plus, otherwise they would make it 10x worse than the crappy movie
Long ago the Avatar fan base lived in harmony, but Everything Changed when M. Night Shamalahn Attached, only the TV Show Master of film could stop him, but when the World needed it most, it ended. 16:53 when Zuko said “Can’t be” he was most likely talking about the fact that he had NO idea the Avatar was only a 12 year old boy instead of an 100 year old man

I'm so happy with the show so far. If we don't get the next two seasons I'm be actually upset.
this zuko look like a young shang tsung from the first mortal kombat
at the time it wasn’t called Sozin’s Comet they named it that after Fire Lord Sozin wiped out the airbenders and started the war

episode 1 was solid! I'm on episode 2 right now and really liking the show
Sheeesh peak. The firebenders coming down as fireballs is cold. N they bending looks wild
They did good on the cgi🔥
This ain't Aang, this ain't Ung, this is Ing!
The bending fights do be looking good doe
Im not 100% certain about this, but maybe the "Im sorry" from Katara was so flat because it came pretty much hours after having just met Aang. If the show runners are taking a more "mature" or "realistic" take on the show it would kind make sense that she wouldn't fully understand the implications of what Aang has just learned.
Conversely, by the time they arrive at the Air temple, she has spent more time with Aang, helped in the fight against the fire nation, and can now *directly* see with her own eyes how devastating the situation would be for Aang.
I dunno if it was intentional on the part of the actors or directors, but seems like a possibility at least..
Nah it was just flat. Even if you weren't even planning to hang around this random stranger, if they said their son died your "I'm sorry" would be a bit heavier regardless. Especially because she follows it by relating it to her mother. (Though the way she said it was a bit rough for me. She said she knew what it was like to lose someone you love... but he lost his whole fucking people. So relating is probably not the best approach but it worked in this show because they said so. lol)
@@Axxidous not me? lol id say sorry but i wouldnt really care because i have no clue who they are lol.
@@Axxidous it works for some people. Some would feel offended thinking "how dare you compare my situation with yours" and some would feel nice or better knowing that other people struggler or went through something similar. Yo the haters missed out heavy on this one. I hated listening to some of the reviews because all they do is complain about what they don't like and avoid praising whats good about this adaptation. I swear one reviewer was complaining about how Katara and Sokka found Aang because it was a little different from the original, at that point its just hating for the sake of hating 😂😂, im glad i watched this enjoyed it the whole way through ofcourse there were a few things here and there that could have been included but i understand why they didnt, its clear to see they're telling the story how they want to structure it and so far the changes are seemless nothing feels forced or out of place
The devastation that is followed by a fire attack hitting someone is priceless
I saw the first 3 at work really liked the bending/the fighting and the fact they actually kill people
Gordon Cormier as Aang is a 1st Child FILIPINO - Canadian Actor From The Live Action Series on Netflix Version AVATAR: The Last Airbender AKA " AanG ".
This was a great series and great first episode imo
Main message from this episode was most definitely give up your childhood
Stick with it y'all!! Just finished it
The dialogue from a cartoon may translate differently in a live action setting, maybe thats why yall didn't like some of the dialogue
First episode was fire🔥
Best reaction so far, as OG avatar fans. I was laughing the whole time with yall lmaoo. This adaptation might be a lil better than the One piece one imo, and I am a died hard One piece fan(one piece is the greatest story ever told in my eyes and luffy is the GOAT of all protagonists). I only watched the first episode so far but I am just amazed at how well they are doing the characters and story. One piece was good too, but there were just some parts that were ehh, but so far I have no complaints on Avatar besides the intro not being the same lol. They are doing sokka so well! I love how they are juxtaposing Zuko and Angs ambitions at the end. And they are finally doing Earth benders JUSTICE!!!
Earth Kingdom is only season 2 I think.
All the changes they made was very off putting at first but then I realised they couldn't just make a carbon copy of the original show. The live action still has the same essence and the characters are representative of the original. Overall well done to the creators of the live action.
I just wish they gave us Aangs air scooter instead of him having the ability to fly😂
@@johnnyirons222 He used the air scooter before he floated on the air tornado, but ur hate boner was blocking your view I guess
One piece was amazing for the fact they basically copied the og with a few changes but it felt natural in order to translate it to live action but this show feels like they changed it just to be different and they didn’t focus on how those changes effect the character development. Writing is the weakest part of this show which sucks cuz they had a great blueprint to follow but tries too much to be different without giving real purpose to the changes. Not a bad show tho 7/10 in my opinion
@@johnnyirons222patience
I disagree. In what way couldn't they follow the story we had 1 to 1 while still adding scenes like Sozin's invasion?
Also are the characters representative of the originals? Aang doesn't seem to have that childish nature here and Zuko(ironically) has more emotion than his character did at this point in the original.
I am four episodes in, and it’s not bad. Granted, some actors don’t feel convincing, and the lines are sometimes flat. But overall it is not bad whatsoever. The ones who are hating just hating just like they did with one piece.
We really aren't.
Your critiques is what makes it bad for me none of the actors are convincing, I hate the speeches after every little thing, like just show us you don’t have to talk and explain all of the time. It really gives off that kids show vibe while watching this but it’s burning people to a crisp. I see why the OG creators left this. The airbenders vs firebenders scenes episode 1 was really good tho
One piece was good because it had GODA himself working on it… they had a chance to see Mike and Brian’s (creators of avatar) vision and they shit on that chance like wtf?????
@@tkotakeover "its giving kids show" when its literally an adaptation of a "KIDS" show. u just grew up.
@@neilgcu did you forget the part about burning people to a crisp this doesn’t have an audience everything is surface level they’ve said multiple times they’re trying to appeal to a game of thrones audience will explain all the burning flesh but you have to make up your mind is it going to be a kids show or an adult show or a show for all ages right now it doesn’t know how to do that
dude got roasted
me: oh this damn sure not a kid show dude
I don’t get why people don’t just give them a chance to recreate something we all love. Of course it shouldn’t be exactly the same and it’s different enough to be worth paying attention for fans of the original show. If new fans watch this first, then they will have even more reason to watch the original for its slightly different narrative and character growth. I think it’s a good thing for both types of fans. Also, I think the child actors will only get better if they continue recreating the whole series
Where yall those avatar merch?!
I have to admit: I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode. It wasn't what it could have been (I still hate that they've fundamentally changed a lot about the characters personalities) but it's also not what I thought it was going to be. *But then I watched the second episode...* Now I'm nervous again 😭
I don’t think you’re being fair, you’re expecting it to be exactly like the animation and that’s just not possible.
Hi there @@MindfulJA3 . I don't expect it to be *exactly* like the show, but I do expect it to be good. Unfortunately, the folks in charge have made so many poor storytelling decisions with this remake that isn't possible. I personally, think this show would have been much better if instead of removing the fun/goofy parts (in what seems like an attempt to make the show more "serious"), they just made the *already existing* serious/dark parts of the show even more intense. There are also a lot of plot holes in this version of the show. The main one being the fact that Aang hasn't learned any other form of bending yet. They have covered Seasons 1 & a lot of Season 2 from the original already, so how do they expect to remedy this...? The only solutions would be for Aang to learn bending inexplicably fast (which isn't realistic even from a fantasy POV) or for them to extend the story by creating new storylines that didn't exist in the show. The latter of which is exactly what the GOT showrunners did when they ran out of source material (something that isn't the case here btw), and we all saw how that went: horribly. I actually really want this show to do well, and maybe it will in its second season (if it gets one). But in my opinion this first season just isn't hitting the mark. 😕
It’s a good first episode. But also i’m still hoping they change there mind and also react to ninja kamui 🙏🏼

i love how they just give Aang the ability to fly even though that ability wasnt a thing until late into Korra... oh and the common fire nation soldier can fly
its not flying, its called falling with style as Buzzlightyear will explain it.
I think the explanation for the fire nation is that they were all buffed from sozins comet. I don’t know how i feel about aang just flying around because of the lore around what it takes to achieve weightlessness but I’m not mad at if
@@Snzn18 He was straight up flying in the scene where he was looking for appa 12:36
@@bigeent.5160 How Aang is able to fly is different from the one from Korra. Aang in the live action is more of just propelling his body with Air. Kinda like how in the animated show where aang can lift himself up with the avatar state but here in a more weaker version of that and it don't really suspend him in the air long enough he can use it to ravel a long distance like an air glider would

Nah this show was tufff. It’s not the OG but it definitely did it justice
I agree, the dialogue was too rushed
Honestly my biggest gripe with the adaptation is the earth bending. It doesn’t feel like it flows. Also I’m not sure that the martial art style Hung Ga is being used as the basis for earth bending. They don’t appear to be
The acting other than sokka and zuko is straight up high school talent show type shit
Airbender would of won if they were ready and if the fire nation didnt have sozins comet they could also siphon air out of people lungs and smite fire by removing air from it avatar yangchen could do it
Well, I don't hate the show. But for me, there are some moments that are completely unacceptable. The first two episodes, especially the very first one are great! Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native.
Does anyone remember the phrase, "Show, not tell"? In this series, instead of showing at least in flashbacks or fragments the events that in the original significantly affected the relationships and the characters themselves, they just mention them to us in passing. They mixed completely different stories with each other and got a mess. They changed Bumi, but here it's more realistic: "Your friend has been missing for 100 years, of great importance to the world. In that time, it's up to you to survive, build and defend the city, and go completely insane from the frequent loss of lives." You, as the leader already have a huge responsibility for this, not just humanity. Okay. It's justified, but crossing father-son and Jatt episodes is not a good idea. In one city, what came out was just a mess of events.
The element effects aren't good enough, nor are the graphics in general. When Katara used magic unsuccessfully, it watered down. But at the same time, Katara remained dry. I do not understand, whether it is an idea such - the effects of the elements only from firebenders, or not inspection. And there were many like that moments.
Graphics. Animals. Appa and Momo are personalities in the cartoon, and here they are rare blank slates in the frame. I understand Appa is hard to animate, but why all that super detailed fur? Momo, same thing. They don't look alive, they don't even look like they're there.
Actors. They don't finish. Especially Katara. Your mother was burned alive right in front of you, and you're a zero along the line. Not a tear. Even Sokka cried harder than she did. Aang not enough too, and so is Zuko. Most here lack emotion and feeling, as if they were just scripted text being repeated. There are so many moments where I personally sobbed, but no these kids: Aang is 12, Sokka and Katara are 15/16. I don't remember exactly. I don't demand emotion like in a cartoon. But can we at least breathe some life into your roles? I don't believe in it and don't care either.
The finale is blurry. Spirit World. Oh, my God, how could I forget? Who would think to let Katar and Sokka's souls into that world is good idea? I know what it was for, but it was just a memory, that's all. Before Korra, it was purely a matter of the Avatar and the Spirits, the first humans don't count. It's unjustified and empty. Adding an evil spirit a reason to be angry to justify his move in the script and this perennial tormentor. Are you serious? He took not only the souls of the people of that village and Aang's friends. But many others, including the past Avatar's lover.
The finale is empty. In the first series already showed the horror of war, in the last series not impressed. Neither the scale as in the original, nor something fresh. Also, the picture throughout the series is gray or dark. I was not annoyed by Katara in the cartoon, but here... Where are the feminism and strong-spirited women? Why is the girl from Kyosha Island almost the princess of the village and what's wrong with her character? Very few bright and intense moments. And I've only listed the bad moments, but there were some good ones too.
Mad people going in to this show looking for things so shit on
What zodiac sign are you guys?

Great 1st episode,
If you compare everything in this series to the movie, there is no competition, the Series folds the movie easily. Have you seen the bending in the movie? Yeah this Katara talks like a modern teen more than just a young girl without modern day influence. Like a kid that doesn't take seriously the harshness of the world they're in. I still woulda liked someone more darker tan for the Waterbenders cuz her hands are whiter than mine are. LMAO But she otherwise looks Katara-esque (looks different but has a similar feel) and her voice and acting are fine. But the way she talks is so detached of of serious emotion. She kinda comes off less passionate and more like a kid who doesn't know what they're doing (Yet, hopefully). It's a nitpick.
I understand what Jerry means about Zuko tho. It makes sense but he sometimes comes off as whiny and pouty, like a victim more than and aggressive person. But I think it just depends on the scene.

Naaah OP live action was way better adapted avatar writing was as nowhere near the original it messed up so many things but visually it's very good I give you that better than opla in this regard
Honestly one of my only problems is I feel like they are going to go the route of shows like she Hulk or movies like Captain marvel in which they seem to think Women characters have to be strong automatically without training. In this episode Katara was able to water bend after getting a little training with aang. I hope they don’t just make her good without having to work for it
I watched an interview and the actress said they made Katara master waterbending much faster because they only had 8 episodes. And thus would need her to be able to start training aang earlier. So unfortunately we don't get to see her training , it's more implied than shown 😢
@@Lxmxn97 like everything else in this show. Implied and not shown.
@chasingfelix3609 Yeah, but I'm not too upset about it. For me, the 1st season of any show is basically a throwaway. But also, they definitely should have fought to get 16 episodes instead of 8 .
