Am I the only one who notices that all these people are very soft-spoken and relaxed? I imagine living in a place like that would make me cozy enough to calm down too. Beautiful material. Wish I had the money or time to build my own, heh.
Paul Aulridge Jr That's a really good point, man.
Paul Aulridge Jr you choose your own path, if you want inner peace, and a connection with a permanent structure provided by the planet, you make adjustments in your everyday life, in your mind and you’ll naturally gravitate to that state. I have observed those that struggle trying to settle differences in conflicting situations fail to realize, if you can’t make peace when surrounded by stress, migrate to a more peaceful area, if that’s not within your budget, surround yourself and or arrange your surroundings in a more peace/zen inducing way first, as you strive to live in an environment that your internal spirit can fully relax, you will systematically evolve and the positive energy and benefits will strengthen you in health and awareness, and thereby provide the path vision and hopefully the reality. I hope you act on this and succeed in the endeavor.
“Serenity has a value based solely on the individual’s conscious perception of its benefits, and its realization costs exactly what the influential conscious would lead one to believe it costs, indiscriminately, no more no less. Sadly, so many believe its not within their means, when actually its been within their immediate reality since the moment life came into existence”
I N P Guru.
You make time for whats important. Take it a day at a time.
When you've spent so much money on a rammed earth house, you'll sound calm because you initially thought you'd spend a lot less.
@@tomconner9695 Very good advice.
Okay, this is the BEST short movie on Rammed Earth I have seen so far. It exposes the material, the relationship people have with the material and the larger picture all in 10 minutes. Amazing.
Martin Rauch architekt specialized in rammed earth buildings, his own house is a dream ... also on you tube, only in german though ...
I just came across an article featuring #Rammed Earth houses 2months ago. I haven't stopped following the subsequent video. I like the exposé on this short video.... The site of the spacious rooms is Breathtaking. I would also say no to Paints. Looking forward to develop this Culture here in my country #Kenya.
Could you recommend any firms that specialise in rammed earth that you know? I'm an undergraduate architecture student that would like to work somewhere that uses this medium
The format and quality of this video completely blew me away. For a topic that's so underdiscussed and undocumented, you guys made a 10-minute documentary on the techniques, the materiality, and the people behind the rammed earth. I'd watch this kind of thing for hours. Thank you for your great work!
*I LOVE every aspect of Rammed Earth construction!*
You can build your own. Save money. Do your own labor. See a lot on CZcams. This is what I'm planning.
About colors. I was thinking about used glass bottles. They come in various colours. If ground into fine powder or atleast gravel sized might be useful.
I really love these videos! Rammed earth wall are so beautiful and natural looking. The whole point is to have thermal mass, and not have to worry about painting walls. Earth, Wood, Glass, Steel, that's all you really need, imho.
What a wonderful video. Aspiring to build our next house in rammed earth.
Are you from India? I'm from Northeast India.
Me too planning to build my own rammed earth house, I need some real good dedication.
It requires so much to change, everyone is happy to talk about change and reducing footprint and doing things to improve our situation but there so very few who are doers.
Doers are those who are tired of the talk, they are fed up with nothing being done. They are the leaders, the changers and the movement.
Now I ask who here is a doer? Just go and do my dears.... Wait for no one, you are the change, no one else is going to do it, you lead, you be the movement.
The subtle colors make this house!!!!!!
I can feel the peaceful atmosphere in this house. Great human project!
I'm dreaming of this, I just bought 10acr of land in Texas, I would like to do this.
Somsong Charoenpon Howdy pardner! Welcome to the Lone Star State...
@@Ringele5574 please elaborate, it sounds like you explored thoroughly.
That is the dreams, good luck!
Your dream is about to come true😊
Did you build a rammed earth home? I have 6 ac in CO and I'm looking to do the same thing, just need someone who knows what they are doing!
Ооооочень круто !!!! Я сам живу в глиняном доме , такие дома просто идеальные для проживание и у них нет недостатков только плюсы
Yes - I agree, excellent presentation!
this series has been amazing! thank you for sharing!
This is incredible and cultural technique for all of us. And something that touches our bodies and hearts...
Another BRILLIANT VIDEO!
This is wonderful!
And your picture looks loveingly wonderful as well
You guys are amazing,.
This is the way
Gorgeous
All of these episodes have explained the walls themselves, but not HOW they are modernized. How do you modernize with these building materials? How do you plumb and wire a house like this?
And how do you meet earthquake code (BC and the entire Pacific Northwest is a subduction zone with the potential for huge earthquakes) with unreinforced masonry, which is what rammed earth ultimately is?
@@Pipsqwak i heard tht those rammed earth buildings are very earth quake secure ...
Beautiful 💕
Beautiful
Hard to believe a "Rammed Earth," house in Canada wouldn't need some additional heat in February!
It will be lovely if you could do wattle and daub video story. That will help people who want to build out of it. By the way i love your videos. Very eye opening. Keep spreading the earth building gospel.
thank you for the video, I really appreciate it. for a long minute she reminded me of that actress from roseanne Sandra Bernhard ,,
Rammed earth needs advertising. If your interested lets make a deal.
I agree natural non carcinogenic in our home..Our homes should be as close to nature as possible...
Keep up the good work 🙏❤️
Unless you do all the work yourself it can cost substantially more to have a ramned earth house built than a house made of traditional material.
Some if not all if that extra expense is offset with little to no drywall installation, taping/mydding/texturing/painting and reduced energy costs once fully enclosed....for the life of the building.
Not true; nowadays ya just wait and Government seizure comes into play. Then all ya gotta do is be high bidder
If people want to paint those walls afterwards .. just show them the door, it's not for them.
One May use Turmeric pastel for yellow, or mix little Lime with turmeric and it turns Red..so you have two natural colours...!
Natural dyes can be added to the pre tamped materials to suit the individuals taste
Beautiful, just wish it wasn’t so expensive.
Please explain further about the cost.
Only a ignoramus would paint a rammed earth house, I mean the natural walls, they are so strong and beautiful, I want one.
Seeing the title, I was waiting for the 'groundwork' of these buildings 😂 it never came.
How is wiring and plumbing handled in rammed earth walls? Do they embed conduit in the forms? And how would you handle making changes once the walls are done if you hadn't considered something?
Following
Why do they have to be in the rammed earth walls?
You have a ceiling, and floor to put things in, and a knock down wet wall built with sheet rock and 2"x4s"
How high of a wall can you build? Are the walls structural? Will they hold a roof system? Can you make rammed earth floor?
2:00 hey me'em, you have a concrete house!
A lot of horizontal cracking compared to cob, but probably a lot faster to build.
How does it fare during tremors and torrential rains?
I wonder how well would a rammed earth building fair against a 7-9 magnitude earthquake?...
It would collapse and crumble I think. That's the downside of earth building materials, otherwise they are great.
@@johnterry8958 agreed.
I have seen most rammed earth projects set on concrete footings, which as we know this kind of concrete probably won't last 100s of years compared to the rammed earth. Would the rammed earth become unstable once the foundation begins to degrade? Would it be much more efficient to use rammed earth foundations to preserve its structural integrity?
Stone
Cob is worlds better in SO many ways
People should have the freedom to live in any kind of house they want. I don't appreciate people stomping on my boundaries, my freedom. Please don't push your "values " on your neighbors.
could you help me have one in Morocco?
Rammed earth all the way
How is it insulated and thermal mass at the same time

Would it be possible to add a Earthship greenhouse to this type of build ?
I believe so
Hi,nice vedio,.please tell the composition of materials ,ratio of,sand cemnt nd clay ??
Is extra radon from rammed earth in homes a concern to be worried about?
Please is ram earth suitable for water logged area?
Do you have a division in Taiwan ?
I want a house like that !
what do we do to avoid scraping of walls due to rain?
Adding the small bit of concrete to the mix makes it a little stronger and quite resistant to damage caused by rain. It would need to be quite heavy rain over a long period to erode a rammed earth wall to begin with. Eaves/veranda's are an important part of design, they protect the walls from direct rainfall. If you absolutely want to cover or seal the wall for added protection there are several earth or lime based plasters or renders that will do the job and still allow the wall to breathe. Mineral paints (essentially water glass/sodium silicate with mineral pigments added) is also a good option for any earth or stone based construction.
This is really a nice explanation. Thank you Lucas :D
You also need to build wide overhangs so that very little rain gets to the walls.
Can we make stilt through rammed earth technology ?
How thick do the walls have to be to get the right thermal mass to keep warm in winter and cool in summer?
Depends on your climate and hardiness zone.
Walls in Houston, Texas might be thinner than ones built in Madison, Wisconsin.
I am planning to build one in the highlands of Bali. It is earthquake prone and months of heavy rainfall. How do I get advices on how to build it?
I like the concept, but I wouldn't like to be involved in the building process, in addition rammed earth building is way too expensive. I stay with wood and timber.
has the width got to do with how high you are going ? I would love to build that high
Yes, typically the higher the wall, the thicker you would want it to be to better disperse the loads.
Hmmm I dunno maaan. It all seems a bit too good to be true... am currently in Jamaica... and there are no Rammed Earth homes I've seen.... I wonder why half the world is not using this method.... I really hope this ain't a scam
Only few people discover the path to life.
Use your spiritual mind to think instead of the carnal mind, then your eyes will see better, hmmm 👍
👍
So what happened now? Do we have more accessible builders who can build environmentally friendly homes?
There is a LOT of wood being used in these structures. There has to be a way to make arches and vaulted ceilings. Otherwise your long lived house will only have its walls after a hundred or two years as the wood rotted away. There is something here for sure, but it is deeply flawed compared to so many other natural building techniques.
How much cement did they add to that earth?
They use between 5 to 10% depending on the builder and the soil type.
I guess you have to try a few test runs to get the right results in varying soil compositions
@@timtaylor9339 that's concrete in our books
Why don't you need to insulate it?
Painting over a travertine floor, a mahogany dining table, a granite countertop, a Cherry burl jewelry box is an act done by shallow minded nearsighted preoccupied consumers.
Mhmmm. That thing is a mansion of virtue signaling more than environmentalism. If you cared about the environment, you'd build smaller.
@@RandomPlaceHolderName I have covenants in my subdivision so would build smaller if I could.. not happening ... sigh
@@stevepailet8258 Yeah, ive dealt with a few town councils that dont allow anything below 1000sqft. Ludicrous. Good thing we didnt impulse buy a plot of land...

The houses are great, if the residents could go further and de-clutter..😁
Damn, bit*h. THAT'S what your controlling little mind was compelled to actually comment on. There is effective therapy for this which would help you to access ideas of larger magnitude.
One statement - why not enforce building code that required... "Insert industry that you work in.".
Kk
Am I the only one who thought this was about building the foundations
this guys is saying "walk the talk" it's talk the talk walk the walk
Both are ways of saying the same thing really
Is that all you observed in all the beauty and ideas they sharing.
😍👌
What is the fucking price? That's what people wanna know
It must be nice to be so rich and white. Thanks for making such a difference in the world.
its insult to injury to call this "alternative building" when rammed earth has been around for thousands of years because things are defined as alternative are really really bad: alternative media / alternative music / and lets not forget feminism
Feminism is about equal rights for women, with many women in many countries not having similar rights as men. The label of alternative building is correct because it's an alternative to conventional building. Nothing is being insulted here except your bias.
“Why not force everybody to have to use my company to build their home?”🤔 7:58
Our education lost values sadly .
