I don't really think so. Most LGBT people simply live their lifes and people don't even notice they are LGBT if they don't bring that up. However, this can happen because you can no longer incarcerate them because of their sexuality. Do you really think that the LGBT people who get murdered in muslim countries are even remotely similar to internet tumblerinas?? They are just normal citizens thate are caught having a relationship, and yet the countries where gay people are more silent and less extreme in their requests are the ones in which they get murdered. The western LGBT community is often very over the top and stupid in their ideas, but this is because most of them feel the need to bond with a community where they are accepted. This will happen less and less as society becomes more accepting, because LGBT people, like Blaire i this case, would grow in an accepting place already.

How can any of us be "tolerated" when they refuse to return the favor?

      @rebel1281 Před 2 lety

Exactly! It’s like now they want to make straights the “minority” and harass us about LGBTQ+ everything. Obviously, I can’t speak for the community 100%, as I don’t share the same experiences and I am well aware most people of the LGBTQ+ community are really sweet and cool people, it’s just that it almost defeats the whole acceptance aspect of the movement. LGBTQ+ wanted to be accepted (which they have every right to be! They’re human like all of us, and deserve the same rights), but then why shun our straights now (the exact thing you were fighting to change when it was vice versa). Anyways, I hope you all have a nice day/evening/night ❤️

I am more than that, and if my sexual orientation needs to be discussed, I happily will discuss it if appropriate; it just doesn't have to be an obvious thing that everyone needs to know. But what if you want the right to marry (you have that right now, but it could be taken away?)- maybe being flamboyant is a desire to rebel against laws that limit what you can do? It wouldn't persuade someone to have your beliefs, but does it bond people together, like an act of bravery?

My biggest issue was why are gays so damn hypersexual, yet want to be as 'normal' as possible. You ask a lot of questions and those are also the reasons why people dislike gay people (mainly the tumblr ones) who are loud, force laws to call them xir and say it's transphobic to not want to sleep with a trans person, even though it's called a preference. I myself don't associate with the community for this reason> i am not embarrassed to be gay, but I am embarrassed to think so many act out that way . It pushes us backwards, really...

Mika, I know, it's like they are re-introducing community shame on themselves, because their ridiculous behaviour is ostracising them all over again, but by them, not by straight people. We're OK with your choices, who the hell cares anymore who people chose intimacy with. We're not OK with the insane behaviour that has been offending good people such as yourself, and alienating our sense of tolerance and community. This desperately needs to end. I think it's the same for feminism too, it's like a revenge for past grievances that is illogical and detrimental for us today.

But the truth is that people who dislike Pride the way it is now will not like gays more if the parade was a bunch of men and women in office suits walking like priests and nuns. We will always be abnormal to those people, they would freaking hate their totally modest plumber and carpenter married neighbors because they're two men. Even if they don't hang a pride flag and seem to be as ordinary as possible, they will still be hated because they are two men who love each other and have sex with each other.

    story time
so at my college there is a lounge for the lgbt community and it's flaboiant as hell during the day and actually over all a nice place to be at night.
so a preacher comes in trying to talk to us, being respectful, understanding that the church had done the lgbt community wrong, and he came in to honestly learn about the community and understand. he wanted us to let someone who was calling him a homophobe and spreading rumors about him, know that he wasn't and he actually wanted to learn more about the community. when he walked in the lounge several people got up and walked out of the room, once the preacher left most of the room started talking about how because he is a preacher he doesn't belong in here and they were rude about it.
I feel like the way they acted could have possibly put lgbt rights even more behind, it really saddens me that they were so disrespectful.

As someone who attended a gay pride event outside of the US, it was way more fun because it was take enough that half the city was able to participate and have fun. Hell couples were able to bring their kids to watch the parade because it was so tame. I think because of the way the event was conducted, it built a bridge between the LGBT community and the rest of the city populace rather than reinforcing existing stereotypes and stigmas about gay and trans people. I am a gay man and when I came out I really thought the gay community was going to be my people. Much to my surprise I had WAY less in common than I did with just everyone else that I might come across in my life. No one ever bullied me or bothered me growing up either. I was always well liked and taking to old friends. They all knew but never pressured me or bothered me. I also agree that it makes us look bad when pride events are basically an outdoor club. It doesn’t have to be sexual it should be about real pride.
I once accidentally went to gay pride as a teenager because I won tickets and had to go before they expired. I was so ashamed of my community because they were so disrespectful to families and anyone else who just wanted to go to the them park. It was purely sexualized. That’s not how I represent myself, or want to be viewed. I have been in a 10 year monogamous relationship. Being gay doesn’t mean being sexually perverse. LGBT people don’t represent me and I don’t want anything to do with them.

Okay, I'm going for a moment here so forgive me for using broad brush terms when speaking about ANTIFA, oh shit sorry, i meant Westboro Baptist Church, damn, okay, I'll get it right "Acronym Community" Blah! Close enough. Just know that I do not mean 100% of the community. There are some good people, but NOwhere near enough.
As a 50 year old American man who just happens to be gay and survived the 80s, which just about wiped out my age group. I can't believe still, to this day, the G's in the acronym that's starting to mimic ANTIFA, have learned nothing from history. Still crudely having unsafe sex with as many men as possible. Oh yeah, there's Prep now. Sorry, forgot about the miracle medicine.
Thank god I was never into the open relationship thing. It's bad enough when you had a close tribe of friends that were always together, odds are you broke off a relationship with one, only to see him hooking up with your bestie the next day. So on and so forth till you've all slept with each other, and their ex's, yet still remain friends. I mean, it is normal for one friend to step on the "bomb" and the others take the shrapnel, right?
If I were a heterosexual, I wouldn't be very accepting nor tolerant. Hell, I'm gay and can't tolerate it. I know, at this point you're thinking, "This dude is gay, and a homophobe. Either that or it's internalized homophobia" Neither of which is true. Just because a person doesn't want to be associated with a certain group of people, due to nothing more than lack of interests or commonalities, doesn't make one homophobic. Just smart!
The majority of the community is heterophobic, a lot a L's are G-aphobic and same goes for the G's being L-aphobic. And shit, every letter besides 1 in your loving, accepting, tolerant acronym is B-aphobic. The hypocrisy is maddening!
Here's a tip, find someone who compliments you, who shares some common interests, passions, values and goals. You would be shocked at how accepting others are of a married gay couple living a normal American life. Raise an American flag on your property. Leave the fuckin rainbows for water droplets to refract, reflect and disperse.
The community says, "but you can't live openly gay and have all neighbors accept it" WTF does truly live OPENLY gay mean? Please tell me. Maybe fly the rainbow flag while simultaneously fucking in the front yard? Our lives DO NOT revolve around our sexuality. Do we fuck? Hell yeah. In the privacy of our home. Yes people in our neighborhood know we're gay. Being gay is what we are, not who we are. What we are has very little to do with how we live our lives. It's about doing and being good to others. Put out what you want back. Like respect, tolerance and understanding for others who may not understand? I mean "The community" screams for these things, yet are actually the least tolerant, least understanding and accepting? Laughable! Just ask the B's how accepting they are. If they can't be accepting or tolerant of the 3rd letter of their acronym, B. How the hell do you think they can accept anyone else?

You aren't alone Blair. I swear to god I've never been so embarrassed to be a lesbian as I have in the past five or so years. I have no idea what the fuck is going on but people have lost their damned minds and I want no part of it. I tend to *partially* agree with your videos for the most part and I enjoy the parts where I have disagreement, it makes me think and everyone these days is so against being challenged and thinking, but I can't disagree with any of this. Frequently I do find myself wishing we could sit down and discuss. I'm interesting in a deeper understanding of some of your past points. Anyway...
Seriously, why are American Christian bakeries more important than Islamic murders? Why is one religion constantly cited as being 'the worst' and another is protected? You know what racism is? It's when you treat one group differently solely based on their perceived race. HMMM? Why are our major lobby groups tacking ridiculous 76 gender bullshit in with basic ass employment rights, causing employment rights to be passed over because no sane person is going to vote to force 76 genders on everyone else? Where are peoples priorities? There are lots of places one can still be fired or made homeless because of their status as trans or gay. Gey people are still being murdered for being gay. Pulse wan't even the only gay/lesbian murder that year so why the fuck are we more concerned with where people change at the pool, making sure late transitioners can compete against women in sports, literally coming for peoples children and getting those damned lesbians to learn to love girlcock already, dammit you fucking transphobic cis scum? Lgbt people these days deny science worse than anti-vaxxers and chemtrail freaks.
Seriously though, I just took a fuck load of lgbt heat for stating how I legit don't care that youtube recently starting age restricting lgbt content. My twitter is a tire fire rn. Like, do people know what crazy shit people are saying/doing out here? Queer Kids Stuff, anyone? Being bi is GREAT! Way better than being a boring straight, kiddos! Jfc. People like Tyler Oakley and Tegan and Sarah will be minorly inconvenienced before they get their restrictions lifted but yes, I'm GLAD CZcams cracked down on this child-brainwashing shit. People like Milo and Riley are spouting straight up classic 'unlearn your sexuality' homophobia to teens (who last I checked are also still children until their brains stop growing around 25). Do I care if Milo's stupid videos get restricted? No. No I do not. Cry more, MIlo. And this type of shit is exactly what youtube intended to target. Good for them.

Personally I don't believe in labels, it's quite restrictive on a person since many people confine their interests based on their labels and preferences. It also limits their friendships and thinking because of that. If I love a person I love them for who they are underneath, simple as that :) doesn't matter what gender or background they have.
It would seem that a lot of bisexual people are being ostracised from the community, which is an irony in itself since it's supposed to be inclusive and supportive. I have a lot of bi friends who say they leave the community because they feel unwelcome and prejudiced against. The community is just crumbling on itself with all its contradictions and prejudices.

I came out when I moved to the US (LA) for a decade. Initially I was happy to hang out with all the gays in the community until I started seeing how much bad attitude is involved. In my whole life I have never seen such hatred for everything different. The racism, body negativity, exclusion, sexism, all that from a community that is all about “acceptance” and “tolerance”. I have cut ties with most of the people I met and hanged out with, it was just waaaay too toxic. The constant back stabbing, vindictiveness, I sometimes felt I was in a real life version of “Mean Girls”. Even though I agree that not liking black guys for example is a preference, I had so MANY gays in LA associate it with something “dirty”, even had guys telling me they would seriously be upset (not the word they used) if they knew I would hook up or be involved with someone black. It was a disgusting attitude.
