@Insert Name Here Yeah I'm from Mexicali (like hour and a half from TJ) and the Haitians are super nice people, very hard workers, some even started going to college here. The ones that actually went to the US did it the correct way and there was no problem.
@Insert Name Here for what I know the TJ city council just asked them to behave properly: no littering, sleeping on the shelters, receive medical care in order, no fights and respect restrooms for men and women. The very first night there was at 1000 sleeping in the street near the border gate already... drinking and doing drugs in the sidewalk etc. The Haitian migrants respected the indications from authority and made their paperwork to get housing and job opportunities, they're fully integrated in the society by now, working, studying and being productive. The major issues with the caravan was they did arrived demanding, they felt entitled to demand for transportation! They also left a huge mess at their pass and wasted resources given to them, food, clothes, medicine, etc. And the average Mexican started to turn against them, several videos of them demanding pizza and sodas, saying they won't eat what they were offered, demanding tacos al vapor, claiming that the food given to them was only for pigs and many other vicious stuff created a hostile environment. The people who are real refugees took asylum from Mexico already, some are already working, the ones at the border throwing rocks is not the same type as the ones truly seeking protection from violence in their countries.
AltoLox it’s not about being “afraid” it’s about the law. You don’t try to illegally enter a country. The ones from the caravan that applied for asylum and qualified for it in either Mexico or America got in, and the ones that did no do so and tried to illegally enter were not let in. It’s that simple. It’s like showing up to someone’s house and trying to break in. Not only is it rude and disrespectful but it’s also illegal. This is not Europe where we just let anyone in. You have to have a legal reason to come and a legal reason to stay.

I live in a Central American country, it's always weirded me out how other countries and a lot of U.S. citizens themselves want to see this castrated version of the U.S. In very few other countries in the world is defending one's boarder seen as a hot button issue or controversial. People wanna be mad at the U.S. while straight up ignoring that in Colombia and Brazil they've been killing Venezuelan refugee's on sight who are fleeing the shitstorm in their own country. It just seems so weird to me that the world seems to unanimously shit on the United States yet expect you guys to fix the worlds problems.

I live in Costa Rica, we're one of the most well-off countries in central America (by no means perfect) but because of our economy, and the appeal we have due to how peaceful we are compared to a lot of our neighbors to the north and south, to a smaller extent than you guys we do get past the "Hey it's your obligation to welcome droves of immigrants with open arms and no questions" bill, and questioning it gets you painted as a xenophobe. Don't get me wrong, a lot of immigrants come here and are honest, hard working people, but there's a number of immigrants who AREN'T that I feel it's naive to ignore that. I wish we defended our boarders better, and if people disagree they should practice what they preach and start leaving their doors wide open with a WELCOME sign hanging over it.
I have an extremely unique perspective on this. I have been tear gassed. Everyone who enters the US Military get tear gassed in Basic Training/Boot Camp. It sucks, but it is not as bad as people like to pretend it is. Getting shot at is bad. Getting hit with a bayonet is bad. Coughing from tear gas is suckie. Tear gas is effective because it makes your sinus burn so bad that you don't come any closer and start to back away. Since it has no long term issues and is non-traumatizing, it is a popular choice for riot control.
Exactly tear gas burns but it is used to stop riots and such. People act like we should not defend our self in this country. The left always spins things like this into a victim issue. Causing problems with kids around should have been more of a concern with the parents. What do they want to just let everyone come here violent or not?. To be seriously harmed by tear gas, you either have to take a canister hit directly to the head, or walk into the thickest cloud you can find and stay there, suffocating due to the cloud displacing oxygen. Riley is all emotion and no rationale. I honestly can't understand how people who run on pure emotion don't burn out, but then maybe that's why they seem to have such high anxiety all the time.

It's sad that you have to identify as conservative to express these opinions. This isn't conservatism, this is just being rational. I would be considered liberal by most, but I can't disagree with your reasoning. A lesson that both parties need to learn is that life isn't fair. It never will be. In this case, the left side is missing the mark. We can't just let people into our country because of poor or dangerous living conditions in their own country. There's tens of millions of people living under oppression and corruption, we can't just save everybody. It's the morally ambitious thing to say, that we should help these people, but the ugly truth is that we can't. If we start helping everyone and opening our borders to everyone facing persecution, even just from Central America, it will never end. It's not a pretty truth, but it is the truth nonetheless. I understand this may sound ridiculous and biased because I'm privileged enough not to live in the supposed fear or danger that these people live in, but life was never meant to be a fair game.

My sister was teargassed over a year ago. The resulting damage to her lungs led to her contracting pneumonia. She nearly died. Even now she suffers from lung problems as a result. Yea, sorry but this does happen. My gf's daughter in law started encouraging one of her 2 sons to become trans at the age of 9. Basically forcing him into the shit. Wearing dresses, tight pants, halter tops. We used to bring them swimming and things and he was always a normal active young boy. They live in Vermont, and around here, at least, it seems to be a pushed agenda. Child Protective Services are all for it and use him as a poster child for how wonderful and correct this lifestyle is. Completely disgusting in my opinion.

Shaun and Shon that’s how I try to see things, but being a member of the LGBT community adds on this pressure to agree with everyone else, because if I don’t I’m “bigoted” or my views don’t matter anymore because I’m “problematic”. I have friends I legitimately cannot tell my political views to because they would call me a traitor or a transphobe, when I’m not. It’s a very delicate balance.
I live in Honduras (Central America), and I absolutely agree with Blair. I'm a true believer in the say "dura lex, sed lex" which means "Tough is the law but it is the law", the result was expected people was warned they even had problems entering Guatemala and Mexico. This is what happens when people break the law, as sad as it may be but justice is blind and sees no gender, race or ideology. I live in a Central American country, it's always weirded me out how other countries and a lot of U.S. citizens themselves want to see this castrated version of the U.S.
In very few other countries in the world is defending one's boarder seen as a hot button issue or controversial. I have an extremely unique perspective on this. I have been tear gassed. Everyone who enters the US Military get tear gassed in Basic Training/Boot Camp. It sucks, but it is not as bad as people like to pretend it is. Getting shot at is bad. Getting hit with a bayonet is bad. Coughing from tear gas is suckie. Tear gas is effective because it makes your sinus burn so bad that you don't come any closer and start to back away. Since it has no long term issues and is non-traumatizing, it is a popular choice for riot control.

It's sad that you have to identify as conservative to express these opinions. This isn't conservatism, this is just being rational. I would be considered liberal by most, but I can't disagree with your reasoning. A lesson that both parties need to learn is that life isn't fair. It never will be. In this case, the left side is missing the mark. We can't just let people into our country because of poor or dangerous living conditions in their own country. There's tens of millions of people living under oppression and corruption, we can't just save everybody. It's the morally ambitious thing to say, that we should help these people, but the ugly truth is that we can't. If we start helping everyone and opening our borders to everyone facing persecution, even just from Central America, it will never end. It's not a pretty truth, but it is the truth nonetheless. I understand this may sound ridiculous and biased because I'm privileged enough not to live in the supposed fear or danger that these people live in, but life was never meant to be a fair game.

@Shaun and Shon I completely agree. I don't really associate myself as "an LGBT person" because that's not how I identify myself lol. I'm just a person, an individual like everyone else. I was just saying that the OP and Blaire are not, like, the only two LGBT people who aren't left-wing.
Shaun and Shon that’s how I try to see things, but being a member of the LGBT community adds on this pressure to agree with everyone else, because if I don’t I’m “bigoted” or my views don’t matter anymore because I’m “problematic”. I have friends I legitimately cannot tell my political views to because they would call me a traitor or a transphobe, when I’m not. It’s a very delicate balance.
The mistake that almost everyone makes is that politicians and the civil service are separate forces and shouldn't be seen as one.
I live in Honduras (Central America), and I absolutely agree with Blair. I'm a true believer in the say "dura lex, sed lex" which means "Tough is the law but it is the law", the result was expected people was warned they even had problems entering Guatemala and Mexico. This is what happens when people break the law, as sad as it may be but justice is blind and sees no gender, race or ideology. Poor kids but their parents brought them there, the fault is not of the agent for reacting, it was fromt he irresponsible parents.
