Hey! I discovered your channel in either eyar 11 or year 12 and I just wanted to simply thank you! I never thought I'd apply to York, I didn't even know about it honestly. Now I'm sat here, in year 13 having been accepted at York for Law and going next year. You were my inspiration and I just wanted to thank you
Dylan bro a long time subscriber here (since the GCSE days aha) your videos never fail to impress me giving so much insight and detail especially when I was thinking of studying econ at York too!😂
We both studied in York, both have Masters from there. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Facilities were great, and the lecturer's were fantastic. I lived off campus, Langwith College, wife lived on Campus, Halifax College. Exams in Central Hall in winter though, hands became numb with the cold 🥶
@@crickettoday9891 wouldn't be able to tell you sorry, I finished my Masters in 2011, I'm sure a lot has happened there since in the last 13 years. A 2:1 Degree at least was required when I was there for a Masters, you can check to see if that's still the case as placements would depend on numbers and I suppose those with a higher grade would get priority. It may also depend on nationality, in my Masters there were only 3 English, the rest of the class was made up of Chinese, Indian, and a few Europeans. I, along with the other 2 English, probably got the place to make up the home nationality placements 😂 at least that's what we suspected at the time anyway lol
If you could please also do a video or a short Q&A session regarding the online MSc Computer Science program offered at york so it will help to make a informed decision Thanks
I'm doing this right now. From what I've seen and heard, studying online is totally different that in class and is just a cash cow for them. In summary, there is little to no support for the programme. They will just give you a book and tell you what chapters to read. No lectures, just a 1-2min video here and there. Students are so dissatisfied a group of 95 of them filed a formal group complaint which had nothing come of it, just dismissed. Honest opinion: go anywhere else. Also, if you don't know, UK computer science masters are mostly theoretical. That's how they offer it for people with no experience. So basically you'll graduate with no practical skills, just theory. I wish I had know this before. My advice is to apply through US universities instead. They actually provide lectures and practical skills.
I hate it when people reviewing a university (most usually a female student rep) says to freshers, ''This university has such a family feel to it, *everyone* here is so friendly and nice, it is like one huge community with a great vibe''. Then when you're actually there, it's absolutely nothing like that.
York's awesome....there's all kinds of people and all kinds of social activities. The lake and wildlife is peng (especially Longboiiii). Even the 'blitz' concrete accommodation is fine. Most people after a couple weeks don't care about the standard accommodation. If you got good flat mates you're fine. I'm a first year, and honestly I think they are doing an amazing job of trying to cope with the current circumstances ✌.
Langwith on East Campus is the most sociable on east, and is self-catered and really modern. James is the most social of all the colleges probably though
Thanks bro! And just in garage band. Later down the vocals and added the bright effect to it and that was it (made in my room I’m not that experienced tbh)
@@ainemetcalfe8432 if you want to be right next to the nursing building then stay in Alcuin, Vanbrugh is over the road as well so could stay there. I wanted the separation between uni and home so I decided to stay on east campus as I study on west. But it depends on the person, also depends on if you want an en-suite or double or single bed as well. I have a video up on my channel about how to choose the right accommodation if you want to take a look x
i didnt watch the video but i went to leeds and if ur a shy person who doesnt wanna go on nights out then maybe york might be better... i kinda wish i went there bc the vibe here didn't really fit me
Leeds has more of a reputation for partying and York has more of a reputation for being studious. That being said you can still have a great night out in York and choose to be more academically orientated at Leeds. If you are going to choose York then a quieter college might be Alcuin and a more rowdy one is Derwent. If you like creature comforts and an en-suite bathroom then any of the colleges on East Campus might be the way to go. Hope this helps :-) (I’m second year PPE at York btw)

Reportedly, this discrimination was first exercised by other students and then exacerbated by the university staff who reviewed the case. Against xenophobia: monitor, report, share. Never permit it.
