Cornbread
3 packages cornbread mix
2 eggs
1/4 cup oil
2 cups milk
Broth
chicken- back and leg quarters
onion
carrots
celery
bay leaf
herbs- rosemary, thyme, sage, parsley
chicken bouillon
peppercorns
1/2 tbsp chicken seasoning
Dressing
cornbread
2 3/4 -3 1/2cups broth (adjust depending on how dry your cornbread is)
chicken meat
2 eggs
salt/ pepper to taste
1/2 tsp chicken seasoning
1/2 tsp chicken bouillon
onion
1 celery rib
1/2 bell pepper
herbs- sage, thyme, rosemary
2 cans cream of mushroom or chicken - Jak na to + styl

This looks similar to what my mother passed on to me. We just make our own cornbread from scratch. I am considering this recipe to take to my granddaughters for our family gathering. I don't cook like I use to anymore. Now that I'm in my seventies I have pretty much passed this chore to the younger ones. Thank you for this video. A very good presentation. My grandma made the best stuffing/dressing but never with chicken, except the gizzard, it was the best, then at a Thanksgiving dinner last year I tasted it with chicken in it, didn't even realize that the difference was the chicken was mixed in, and my oh my...so happy I now have a recipe to make me some, because I sure didn't get enough at my new friends house, thanks so much. I will try this. The dressing recipe you did last time was amazing. I made it for Thanksgiving last year and it was gone that day. No left overs! I have made it as a main dish a few times since. Camorra I made this dressing today and OMG. This is the best thing ever. I did use my own cornbread instead of the one you used but everything else was the same.. so glad I have an IP because that broth was gold. This will be in my thanksgiving dinner forever. This looks so delicious! I've made my cornbread dressing basically the same way for the past 40 years from my mom's recipe. I've never put in a creamy soup before, going to have to try that. Our feelings are the same about Martha White mixes. They seem to have a bit of flour in them. You didn't add bread crumbs, as I've had to do with Shawnee Mills and Morrison's cornbread mix. Maybe that's why.

like the idea of adding the broth last to check the consistency. Too much broth can make it pasty and change the texture in the end. I will try this method!

@@CamirrasKitchen So I made the dressing and it was absolutely perfect. I wasn't ready for the stunning surprise of the fresh herbs in this dressing! At my local supermarket they have "poultry herbs" in 1 package that contained all of those you used. I purchased 2 because I wanted that sage experience you spoke of. It was next level. I don't make dressing because I wasn't consistent but now that I have a recipe for ME, with the chicken inside, I will make this again and again. I have started commenting on your recipes because they are exactly as you make them. The seasonings are perfect and I don't know how you do that. I'm a salt-a-holic and this is seasoned to perfection. I do believe you about that good foundational broth; it makes this dressing sing. Your broth is almost identical to my recipe, but I never add meat to it. I buy chicken stock and add all the things you did, but also include garlic and bell pepper. Then I strain it, and use the liquid for the broth. People sleep on oregano, thyme and bay leaves, but they are essentials in my cooking. I also include celery leaves with parsley and sage for the stuffing veggies. I've never tried eggs, but I'm going to this year. I don't use cream of mushroom, and I usually use a sweet cornbread mix for the contrast, and I use homemade or store bought bread cubes for the texture. I like a fluffier consistency, very similar to stove top. But, I know yours is hitting! The people at your table will be so happy this year. 😊

You can, I just use the herbs in poultry seasoning instead. But you can add a 1/2 tap

I use the same mix for my dressing. If you’re adding enough of the right extra stuff, you won’t even taste the cheap cornbread!

Real southern cornbread dressing does not include cornbread and muffin mix. It includes homemade cornbread and homemade biscuits

well its a fine line haha! so if the milk simply smells a bit spoiled I'll bake with it. It can last for a while in this state b/c it will become more acidic. once it starts smelling like a dumpster, clumping, and changing color its DONE haha
