A good cooks measurement is what looks like it is setting up the way irlt should.
I can't recall a time my family uses measuring cups or measuring spoons. I guess because as my cousins use to say....Your Mother was a Saint and God sent her here to Feed Us All. Best cook ever.
A recipe is what tastes good to the cook. And usually most everyone enjoys it.
Most of these ingredients my Mother taught us to cook with. Some she said would nit have been to the taste of some so leave those out.
Cooking us not hard. People makes cooking hard by over thinking everything.

Actually; all it takes is common sense to season food you've been cooking for years. I guess you would need to measure if you don't know what you're doing in the first place. I measure by common sense, something a lot of people simply don't have. I loved the way she prepared her homemade dressing.

Thanksgiving dinner is tomorrow at 1:30. I am about to make my cornbread now. Mom always made baked cornbread dressing. About 20 years ago, I started making stovetop-style dressing, but from scratch, not using the boxed kind. Everyone really enjoys that one. This year I need to travel a ways and won't have stove access when I arrive. I I am making baked dressing this year.
I used your video as a fefresher course on how to do it. This video was perfect!

Finally! Someone who makes cornbread dressing the way I do. The only difference is that I sautee fresh sage in with my veggies. My veggies pieces are smaller because I use a chopper. Sometimes I will put in boiled egg and/or cooked pork sausage depending on how I'm feeling...lol. But everything else is the same. And my folks love it. Happy Thanksgiving!

Excellent...my mom made the best dressing or the best anything as a matter of fact. She was just a great cook...all the women and men on my family can really cook.
One thing my mom did was she would add her vegetables in the cornbread mixture. So they were already cooked. Just a little tip to save a bit of time. She would cook it half way take it out give it a stir and all more stock, cream of mushrooms, celery, chicken soup to keep it moist as it finished cooking. Turn off the oven and let it rest. The heat will finish making it solid...not dry! This is a great recipe you have. Surely reminds me of my Mom 🥰

I allow myself to have a vegetarian meal for Thanksgiving. I eat macaroni and cheese and potato salad, both of which have eggs. So no turkey, but I will eat items with dairy products, such as eggs and milk. I will make this dressing for Thanksgiving that’s coming up this November. But I will just use 2 cans of cream of celery soup or one can of cream of celery soup and one of cream of mushroom soup. For the stock, I can just substitute veggie stock. And no addition of meat. I start off with the vegetables and after chopping up my veggies I start on my meats that I use. The cornbread is the last thing I work on cooking because you need to add your meat and veggies to the dressing and mix it all up together with your stock and your meat (gizzards and liver's if you prefer.I never add soups to my dressing. I think this may have been the way my late grandmother made hers. I just remember my Papa saying the difference between her dressing and everyone’s else’s was that she “mixes everything wet”. And lawd that dressing was good lol. Thanks for posting

I am way late to the party but,😊 I love that you season the cornbread. I can totally see how that would add a deeper layer of flavor to the dish. I MUST try this.🥰

@@Aprilinthekitchen The dressing was amazing, perfectly complemented my roasted turkey w/thyme. Only thing I changed was adding cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage instead of the chicken at the end. Putting sausage in stuffing is a family tradition 😄 I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are blessed w/plenty of leftovers!

Thank you so much for the simple recipe it was wonderful and flavorful. My husband is from Louisiana and I was a little nervous because he is all about the dressing; It saved Christmas. my mother in law is usually the one that makes the dressing but, she was unable to make it to Texas this year d/t a winter freeze. Once again thank you 👍🏽

Thank you so much for sharing your corn bread dressing! I am excited to give it a try tomorrow. I did a dressing similar to yours and I could not remember all the ingredients, until I watched your video. I like how you add your spices without the traditional measurements, that’s how I cook. Great job! Blessings to you!
