    ABOUT
Today, we´ll read an article about a postcard written by a crew member of Titanic just weeks before it sank. Now the postcard is up for auction and could fetch $15,000. First, I´ll read the text to you in slow Russian so that you can clearly hear every word. You´ll also see an English translation of difficult parts. Then I´ll read the same article again at normal speed so that you can practice your listening skills.
This article is brought to you by my course News in Slow Russian that includes around 500 articles like that. If you want to improve your Russian through reading and listening and learn to understand native Russian speakers no matter how fast they speak, News in Slow Russian can help you with that. If you find this slow Russian podcast episode useful, give me a like and subscribe if you’re new here. The hardest part for me listening to people speaking a different language than english is the speed. Watching this I can fallow just fine for the slow parts. I think it's because I'm a native english speaker and to me english is spoken reletively slow compared to most other languages.

Thanks! No, I think it´s just a coincidence that the character from the movie was also called Jack

Привет! Does anyone here know what CEFR level you'd need to understand most of this text? It's still a bit hard for me 🥲

I am on my way to A2 level and I have understood nearly all of it (generally I just didn't know most of the highlighted words before watching it), although I know big amount of vocabulary outside my course and my native language is slavic as well (this helps a lot).
That said, I wouldn't be able to speak that well, like in that example.

I wish there was an account as good as yours that translates everything into my native language... While understanding English is no problem for me, it's still hard to learn a foreign language via another foreign language. Nevertheless, I love your videos, they're very helpful!

Thanks! Yes, learning a foreign language via another foreign language is no joke but oftentimes it´s the only option available

Очень забавно что на английском первый рейс корабля связан с понятием девичества/девственности. Это как бал дебютанток 😃

На английском и судно же это "she", а не "it"

Создатели Титаника "накаркали", назвав этот трансокеанский лайнер непотопляемым кораблём. The creators of the Titanic jinxed their ship by calling this transocean liner an unsinkable ship.
